As Ranjeet assumed his office his priorities were clear to him, his ministers and his administrative officers.
People First
He focused on food, clean water , health and education. And that brought fights. Because after his father's vigilance ended many corrupt insiders controlled ration shops. Food quality deteoriated. People even were paying mafias for drinking water.
While I got lost in vendetta innocents suffered he thought.
Well all that was about to change now!
Next Morning
"ARE YOU F*CKING OUT OF YOUR MIND"?
An exasperated Guru was standing in front of chief minister as Jeet quietly smiled.
" I guess this is about water rules", he quipped calmly.
Guru just raised both his hands in question.
" Did you talk this out with others", he asked.
" I have a cabinet meeting today", he smirked.
" So how the press got hold of it", asked Guru.
" I leaked it", was the calm reply.
" What are you up to", Guru narrowed his eyes.
" Look", he switched on a small TV.
" ALL THESE ARE LIES", Rash was screaming. " THE GOVERNMENT IS FOOLNG US".
Guru was shaking his head as Jeet smiled.
" What do you want", asked Guru.
" A revolution ", said Jeet. " For their rights. If done correctly it earns them their basic needs. Basically forces our hand".
" You are the devil of first degree", said Guru.
Jeet shrugged.
At the cabinet meeting
" A power cut and rationing in water", said Mr. Gupta ; one of Jeet's ministers.
" Are we ministers or common public", said Ashish Yadav".
" Ranjeet they need answers for your actions", said Vinod Shinde a senior minister.
Jeet sighed.
" I was just planning on it. Somehow it leaked in media. I am sorry. I would never take a decision before consulting my cabinet", he said.
Just give the b*stard an Oscar thought Guru.
" So where do we stand now", asked Meeta Khusre a female minister.
" Damage Control ", said Jeet. " We all have generators in house and water storage too. A couple of hours of power cuts and a decreased water supply won't cause a dent in our wealth".
" And standing in front of public we look like heroes as we set these examples ", said Guru.
" Mrs Oberoi won't back down", said Jeet. " And our government is more important to me than these few bucks spent in our favour".
There was a murmur in the ministers.
But in the end all of them agreed. Jeet was right. They didn't want their seats in jeopardy.
Government and the ministers have agreed to a power cut and a reduced water supply in their homes to provide healthy drinking water and more availability of electricity to the public.
In addition to this cabinet adopted a few government schools where one meal a week was provided from their own house. Media praised the decision. And Jeet shone like the bright sunshine☀️ that he represented for the people who elected him.
Singhania Villa
" I still hate him though", said Kash as he munched fries while sitting in Chanchal's room.
" H.he is a g.good l.leader", she said weakly.
" Politician babes a good one", Kash made angry faces. 😤😠😡
Chanchal shivered as she remembered her confrontation with him that day. He held her hand strongly. She just stood there frozen as if hypnotized to listen to those insults he was throwing at her.
" S. Sumeet t.threw Rash out", she said weakly.
" About that", he smiled. " You can still meet her in my house", he whispered.
" Do you have a death wish", she asked.
" Ohh trust papa I can manage", he said.
Chanchal was still scared.
Meanwhile at the Liar
" This power cut will affect those gambling points negatively ", said Zeeshu to Sumeet.
" Hmmm we most certainly cannot get a generator", he asked.
" No", said Zeeshu. " We will need to show business. It's just a run down restaurant ".
" The morning timings will not affect us", he said.
" He is cutting water in the morning. Power cut comes at night the busiest time for our business. Morning is for cleaning without water", grimaced Zeeshu.
Ranjeet has released the timings of water and power cuts.
" Hmm let me have a visit there. Mostly run down lower middle class places around if I am not wrong ", he said.
" Right", said Zeeshu.
"Get Rashmi Oberoi there", smirked the dragon, "to see the plight of those people.
Zeeshan stared at him for a long time.
" WHAT", asked Sumeet.
" You can't do one thing in a straight manner", hissed Zeeshu.
" Listen lover boy ", said Sumeet. " This is a war. I gave you choice and you chose me. Now I give orders. Got it".
" Absolutely dragon but I hope you don't cut your nose to spite your face".
A run down chawl in the city.
" Madam who else to approach but you", said a resident.
" Yes madam municipality taps are our only supplies her. In the mornings it will be busy with bathing washing and refilling drinking water. A water cut will kill us", said a woman.
" My school is also in the morning ", cried a school girl.
" THE NERVE", blew Rashmi angrily. " He is cutting your lifeline. And standing as a hero with all shing halos above his head.
"Hypocrites are like that", came a deep dark drawl.
Rash turned.
He was standing there in flesh. The Dark Lord Sumeet Singhania.
" And what are you doing here? Came to collect your mafia tax", sneered Rashmi.
" Oh no I just smelled an outsider", he smirked. " An alluring but meddling one. This place is my business. GET OUT".
" If you are talking about your illegal gambling houses that make poor poorer I am not interested in them", said Rash.
" That's a first", said Sumeet.
" You have this high ego and a wrong notion about yourself that people agree to your whims. Guess what", she whispered. " It's wrong".
Sumeet chuckled.
" I was the one catering to your whims in that hotel room", he said.
" And it entails to", she questioned.
" My prowess in bed", he smirked and touched her
Rash smashed her foot on his.
" Oouuchh", cried Sumeet.
" I was drugged. It was a mistake ", she said. " Already you have hurt m y Chi Chi a lot. I shall not be a co conspirator to it. Go to paradise and find a groupie", she huffed.
" Sumeet bhaiya", came a voice.
Both of them turned to find a boy of about 8 years.
" Raju", said Sumeet.
" Power cut", he cried. " My exam tomorrow."
" Don't worry we have inverter start studying", said Sumeet. And at that moment the chawl lit up.
The boy thanked him and ran away.
" You", said Rash.
" Darkness is necessary. It helps you reflect on your thoughts and actions Mrs. Oberoi", said Sumeet.
" Like the one in which you separate two friends", she quipped back.
" I didn't. Your marriage to him did. She is scared. Of him. Of you. She is this beautiful fire fly. She lights me up. And I give her life. Sunshine kills her", he said. " So keep away and let us be happy".
Sumeet walked away leaving behind a stunned Rash.
She stood somewhere in middle of two opposing forces. Sunshine and the dark Lord and both of them were determined to succeed.
