Cherreads

Chapter 46 - Chapter 46

"Wait, no need for money. If you all buy it now, how can I promote it later?" Jia Fuhai didn't want to start this trend, or else everything would be sold out in no time, and then there'd be no point in the promotion.

"Yeah, try to understand," an elderly man standing nearby also chimed in to persuade.

"Alright, here," the young man said, reluctantly handing over his business card. "Once it's out, make sure to call me. I can even help you sell!"

He left, looking utterly disappointed, thinking about when he might get to taste that cake again. The texture and taste were simply irresistible.

If it weren't for the strict food inspection regulations in this area, he might've suspected something was secretly added to enhance the flavor...

Sigh, what a disappointing day.

...

Chen Xiaofeng, phone number: xxx

Jia Fuhai glanced at the business card, which only had a name and a number. He pocketed it, relieved that nobody caused too much of a scene—everyone here was either wealthy or powerful.

He continued distributing the cakes.

Many people ate them on the spot, and after tasting it themselves, they finally understood why others had been raving about it. The praise wasn't exaggerated—it was completely justified.

Good or bad food can be recognized in just one bite.

It wasn't just the kind of sweetness that floods your brain with dopamine.

The cake brought out the flavor of honey and bread to perfection—a multi-layered sensory experience for the taste buds and the mind!

It was even better than those pricey, highly acclaimed bakery cakes claiming to have generations of tradition. This was pure heaven!

Soon, everyone was urging Jia Fuhai to hurry up and get the cakes to market. After all, if they starved to death waiting, it would be entirely his fault.

Jia Fuhai could only smile and promote the brand while assuring them he'd try his best.

This promotional event made him realize his shortcomings.

Packaging? He didn't have any.

Business cards? He didn't have those either.

Fortunately, the taste of the cake was good enough to make up for all of it.

It was his first time handling something like this, so he couldn't have anticipated everything.

Meanwhile, Zhao Xiaoming's mother had also received a cake. Remembering how she only got a small taste yesterday, she immediately tore open the package and started eating.

She planned to have just one to satisfy her curiosity—after all, yesterday's small bite left her craving more!

She thought, "I'll eat one and save the rest to share with my son." Her husband? Well, husbands don't have as many rights in this house.

But as she took one bite, she was transported back into a world of honey.

It was like she had become the queen, lying in a golden palace of beeswax, enjoying the honey offered by her loyal subjects.

Unconsciously, she stood still on the street, mindlessly devouring cake after cake. The ones meant for her son disappeared one by one, and she didn't even realize it.

"Hey! Don't block the way—I'm here for cake too!" A man's loud voice jolted Zhao Xiaoming's mother back to reality. She looked down and saw that only two cakes were left. She was close to tears.

How was she going to explain this to her son? He was such a well-behaved child, and here she was, competing with him for food. What kind of mother was she?

Still, she licked the corner of her mouth. "Delicious."

No wonder her son couldn't resist. Even she couldn't stop herself.

She stared at the remaining two cakes, conflicted. Should she eat them or not?

If she ate them, she'd feel guilty towards her son. But if she didn't, she'd feel guilty towards herself...

In the end, her maternal love won over her taste buds. She begrudgingly placed the two cakes back into the bag.

"Son, I'm doing this for you. You'd better rank first in class, or I'll deal with you!"

In the park, many similar comical scenes unfolded due to the irresistible cakes.

...

As noon approached, Jia Fuhai looked around at the now-empty park.

...

What just happened?

It was just before noon when he had planned to save some cakes to take to the supermarket for people to sample.

But to his surprise, this usually quiet community had attracted a massive crowd by lunchtime.

Jia Fuhai didn't realize that while he was busy distributing cakes, the community group chat had exploded.

By now, many of the residents who hadn't tasted the cake yesterday had their chance today.

One bite was all it took, and soon everyone was talking about it in the group chat.

Because there were limits on how much cake Jia Fuhai could give out to each person, nobody dared to demand that he sell it outright. After all, he was generously giving away free samples to promote his brand, which was already great.

And one person had already tried paying for more, only to be persuaded otherwise.

Given the rule that only a certain number of cakes could be given to each person, everyone began calling their friends and family!

Even the property management staff were dumbfounded. Usually, this community had strict entry rules, allowing only residents inside, with guests needing to register.

But with residents bringing in so many friends, it had become overwhelming.

By the time noon rolled around, a large crowd had gathered at the park, and Jia Fuhai had unknowingly given out all of his cakes.

"Hey, handsome, are there any cakes left?" Zhao Xiaoming finally made it to the front of the line, his big, pleading eyes staring at Jia Fuhai.

In his heart, he prayed desperately: Please, let there be some left. Please!

He had found out that the cake he ate yesterday was one his mom had picked up. Today, there were more to be given out.

But his mom? While others had received ten or more cakes, his mom had only taken two?

He was great at math. How could she do this to him?

When he questioned her, she dodged the topic...

Luckily, he could come get some himself today.

But just as he reached the front of the line, he saw nothing but empty boxes and tables.

His heart sank. He was devastated.
