Chapter 7 - ice

A few days later, while Batman was elsewhere, Alex was roaming around Central City in the dead of night, wearing his Omen costume. He was using his version of Ryu to track down common petty criminals, stealing from them to fund the gacha system—or, as other people might call it, an addiction. He had already spent over two million trying to acquire more power, and what did he get? Gojo's glasses and face bangers. Honestly, not that bad… but still not satisfying.

There was no way he was going to use his own money for this kind of activity. His late mother had once told him, "Never gamble with your own money." So, technically, he wasn't. He stole money—and then gambled with it. It's not like his mother ever knew the true power of gacha gambling anyway.

He also made a vow: he wouldn't return to Gotham unless he had either a Domain Expansion or Infinity. He was afraid of meeting Batman again—like everyone should be. The man wasn't called the world's greatest detective for nothing. If he ran into Batman one more time, Alex was sure the guy would figure out his identity and ruin everything.

He wasn't a full-time hero anyway. He only did this stuff for the thrill, the chaos—for laughs. This was like his second life. So why not have fun with his powers while doing a little good? If he had Reverse Cursed Technique that could work on others, maybe he'd try healing people in a hospital or something but that was even he gets it.

After all, this was the DC Universe—a place where everyone seemed to have magic. Honestly, the magic system in this world was so confusing, he didn't even try to understand it. But it didn't matter. He believed he could unlock RCT naturally, without relying on the gacha system to do it like he just need to come closer to dead and survive like gojo .

Alex stood up, looking down at the glowing lights of the city from where he perched. From here, the world looked so peaceful—like nothing bad could ever happen.

But he knew better.

As Ryu locked onto a target for me to have a little fun with, a smile crept onto my face.

Clap!

In an instant, I was standing in front of an abandoned warehouse. I tilted my head slightly, staring at the building in confusion.

Why are there so many abandoned warehouses in this world? I thought. Like seriously, why do criminals always set up their base of operations in these places? Is there some kind of plot armor in this universe? I really need to look into that.

Alex narrowed his eyes as he made his way toward the building. Raising his left leg, he kicked the door.

It flew open without resistance.

He had already activated Raio Technique.

His eyes instantly landed on Captain Cold—the infamous rogue, either an evil-doer or anti-hero depending on the comic arc. He wore the classic blue costume straight out of the comics.

And standing to his left… none other than Mr. Freeze.

Two ice-type villains? Alex thought, a grim look forming behind his mask. Great.

Mr. Freeze—the notorious Batman villain. Just the sight of him brought back more problem . Alex didn't want anything to do with Batman right now, and Freeze being here only made things worse.

Behind the two villains was a stash—stacks of cash piled up on the table like a payday waiting to happen.

Cracking his neck, Alex stepped forward slightly.

Alright… let's finish this quickly.

The moment Alex stepped into the room, both Captain Cold and Mr. Freeze turned toward him, their expressions shifting from casual to deadly serious.

Captain Cold squinted. "You're not the Flash."

Mr. Freeze adjusted his visor, a chill mist swirling from his suit. "Another wannabe hero."

Alex didn't mind their words—he barely heard them.

Cursed energy surged around his arms, a dark, electric aura visible only to those with trained eyes.

"Nah," Alex said in a low, smug voice, "I'm a hero… for fun."

Clap!

He vanished in an instant.

The two villains stared at the empty space he'd just occupied, eyes wide in shock and fear.

Then—

He reappeared right in front of Captain Cold, a sharp snap echoing through the warehouse as his fist came down mid-swing.

A cursed-energy charged punch connected cleanly with Cold's gut.

The impact was devastating.

Captain Cold was launched backward, smashing into a pile of crates with a thunderous metallic crash, debris flying everywhere.

Mr. Freeze didn't hesitate. He raised his cryo-cannon and fired a burst of sub-zero energy.

Clap!

Alex vanished again—dodging just in time. The frost beam flash-froze the floor beneath where he had been standing.

He landed on the other side, skidding back in a crouch with a smirk tugging at the edge of his lips. "Okay… that was kinda cool," he muttered to himself.

Another icy ray came at him fast.

Clap!

This time, he reappeared directly behind Mr. Freeze.

Freeze's eyes widened behind his visor, a flicker of shock lighting up the cold blue of his lenses—

Then pain bloomed through his back as a surge of cursed energy struck like lightning.

Freeze was sent flying, crashing into a concrete support beam with enough force to leave cracks spider-webbing across the surface.

Captain Cold groaned, pulling himself out of the wreckage, ice already reforming around his hands. "Alright… no more playing."

Mr. Freeze rose as well, limping slightly but still functional. "Agreed. He's fast. But not invincible."

They shared a look. Then, at once, they struck.

Freeze launched a wave of frost across the floor, aiming to lock Alex's legs in place, while Cold fired a barrage of precision ice bolts.

Alex stood still, completely unfazed as the attacks came hurtling toward him—ice shards, freezing mist, and the killing intent of two seasoned villains.

He didn't flinch. Didn't blink.

"I mean… credit for trying," he said with a shrug.

Then, casually, almost mockingly—

He raised both hands.

Clap!

He vanished again, reappearing behind Captain Cold this time grabbing the back of his coat and slamming him head-first into the floor.

Mr. Freeze tried to retreat, desperation creeping into his movements. He fired a final burst of icy energy, aiming to slow Alex down—maybe even freeze him in place.

But Alex simply clapped—and vanished.

In the blink of an eye, he reappeared behind Freeze.

Before the villain could react, Alex drove a cursed-energy charged punch straight into his back.

The impact sent Freeze flying forward, slamming into the concrete floor with a heavy crack. He didn't move again.

as he was Unconscious.

He turned toward the table stacked with cash.

"So anyway," he said, walking casually over, "thanks for funding my next ten pulls."

He reached out toward the stacks of money piled high on the table, fingers inches away from payday.

Shwwww.

A shadow dropped from above. A black shape, silent as death, landed just in front of the table.

The cape unfurled. The silhouette rose.

Batman.

Alex froze mid-step.

The Dark Knight's eyes narrowed behind the cowl, voice like gravel.

"That money doesn't belong to you."

Alex tilted his head slightly, his face still hidden behind the mask. as his breath caught slightly.

why is he here

Of course. Plot armor incarnate.
