The night was deep and quiet when Crassus finally returned to the packhouse. For the past two days, he had barely seen Estella. Meetings, and overseeing security had kept him away, but no matter how drained he was, there was one thing he needed to do before resting—check on his mate.
His feet carried him instinctively down the familiar hall, past the well lit corridors of the his residence, until he reached Estella's bedroom. He turned the doorknob carefully, and stepped inside. The soft glow of the her bedside lamp cast silver patterns across the room, illuminating the delicate figure curled up on the bed.
