Selena's eyes burned with anger as she addressed Renjiro. "Your Majesty, these human mercenaries were hiding during our battle with the Dark Wolves, using a spell to hide themselves. They were spying on us. Clearly, they had ulterior motives."
One of the mercenaries, a rugged-looking man with a scar across his cheek, quickly shook his head. "No, we were just passing by!"
Renjiro wasn't convinced. His gaze swept over the group, noting their ragged state and the nervous way they avoided looking directly at him. He had a good idea of what they were after. Just like the Dark Wolf Leader, their target had likely been the unicorns or them or to be exact Elf Girls.
"I've heard that in the human world, a single unicorn can sell for over hundreds of thousands gold coins," Renjiro said, his voice cool. "Even then, they're nearly impossible to find. If you managed to catch even one, you'd be set for life."
The mercenaries' faces paled.
