Chapter 120: Clash Between Legendary Beasts

Next was Charizard versus Mewtwo, but Mewtwo's appearance destined Charizard's defeat. It can be said with certainty that Mewtwo is currently the strongest in Ron's team. Under the guidance of the other Mewtwo, it had begun to incorporate Origin Destruction into each of its moves.

Once Mewtwo fully masters integrating Origin Destruction into all its skills, it will be promoted to a Level 2 Legendary Beast as defined by the system, and it will be able to go toe-to-toe with veteran Legendary Beasts.

With a single Psystrike, Charizard lost the ability to fight. Ash had lost three Pokémon, and a five-minute intermission was called.

Ash was already feeling the pressure. He had lost three Pokémon, while Ron had yet to lose even one. Clenching his fists, Ash muttered, "From here on out, it's all up to the Three Legendary Birds."

"But Ash, do you have a strategy to deal with Ron's Mewtwo?" Brock asked.

"Yeah, that Mewtwo is just too strong. With the power of the Three Legendary Birds, maybe if they all go in together, they'd have a chance," Misty said. "Which means, in the battles to come, you can't afford to lose even one. Losing even one means defeat."

"I know," Ash nodded, taking several deep breaths to adjust his condition.

Five minutes passed quickly. Ron and Ash returned to the battlefield. Ash called out, "I'm counting on you, Articuno!"

Articuno made a grand entrance, its elegant figure soaring through the air and drawing the attention of many spectators.

"Articuno, huh? Then let's go—Aerodactyl!" Ron said.

As soon as Aerodactyl entered the field, a thunderous roar erupted, and an ancient, desolate aura swept forth. Ash's eyes narrowed when he saw the pendant hanging from Aerodactyl's neck, realizing something was wrong.

Ron smiled, placing his hand on the Key Stone bracelet on his right wrist. Mysterious rays of light connected Ron and Aerodactyl. Aerodactyl was enveloped in a glowing sphere which then shattered—Mega Aerodactyl had arrived!

"Articuno, strike first! Ice Beam!" Ash shouted.

"Too slow!" Ron said. Aerodactyl was the ruler of the ancient skies, and its dominance came from its incredible speed and powerful claws.

Mega Aerodactyl's Ability had changed to Tough Claws, and its speed had increased—to reestablish the ancient ruler's prestige!

With a swift sidestep, Mega Aerodactyl dodged the Ice Beam and raised its wings for a powerful flap, launching a barrage of rocks at Articuno.

"Ancient Power, huh? Then, Articuno—Blizzard!" Ash commanded.

Articuno flapped its wings, and as the wind howled, countless snowflakes formed into a fierce blizzard that surged toward Mega Aerodactyl. In turn, Mega Aerodactyl flapped its wings and sent forth scorching hot winds. Blizzard and heat clashed, stirring up massive amounts of steam that filled the sky.

In the next moment, Ash lost sight of Mega Aerodactyl—but a screech from Articuno followed. Mega Aerodactyl had firmly clutched Articuno's wings with its talons, its fiery maw biting down hard on Articuno's neck.

Articuno fell weakly from the sky, slamming heavily into the ground. Mega Aerodactyl continued to gnaw viciously on Articuno. That savage ferocity from the ancient era, long dormant, had reawakened through Mega Evolution. Ron was sure that with just a nod from him, Mega Aerodactyl would crush Articuno's neck without hesitation, ending the life of this Legendary Beast.

"That's enough, Mega Aerodactyl," Ron said.

Mega Aerodactyl immediately let go of Articuno and flew back to Ron, obediently awaiting its reward. Ron smiled, patted its large head, and returned it to its Ultra Ball. Articuno, now unconscious, was also withdrawn by Ash.

Ash glanced at Ron and sighed, but then straightened up and said, "No matter what, I'll fight to the end! Go, Zapdos!"

"Your turn, Zeraora," Ron also sent out Zeraora.

The clash of two Electric-types—upon entering the field, both Pokémon were already crackling with electricity. Zeraora swung its claws as electric currents surged, causing its fur to stand on end.

"Alright, Zeraora—Plasma Fists!" Ron ordered.

"Zapdos, Thunderbolt!" Ash shouted.

Zeraora surged forward like a bolt of lightning, while Zapdos fired off a Thunderbolt. But thanks to Zeraora's Volt Absorb Ability, the electric attack had no effect—in fact, it only powered it up further!

Plasma Fists struck Zapdos square in the face, sending it flying. Then a pale blue energy veil enveloped Zapdos, and Ron couldn't help but chuckle—Zapdos, being yellow, now looked somewhat green under the blue veil.

"Ash, be careful! Electric moves don't work on that Zeraora!" Brock warned.

"I know. Zapdos, Drill Peck!" Ash called out.

"Electric Terrain, then close combat!" Ron commanded.

Zapdos soared upward, then dived with force, aiming to strike Zeraora. But Zeraora launched a barrage of electric nets, entangling Zapdos in a web of current. Even though it managed to hit Zeraora, Zapdos was now tightly bound and unable to move, plummeting straight from the sky.

"Zapdos, the net is made of electric energy! Absorb it!" Ash urged.

"That's if you even have time to react!" Ron said.

Zeraora was already in front of Zapdos. The modified move Ron had exchanged for with popularity points yesterday was proving effective—Zeraora unleashed a flurry of blows to Zapdos' head, leaving it dazed and helpless, unable to think. As it fell, Zeraora delivered a final roundhouse kick that sent Zapdos crashing before Ash. Zapdos had lost its ability to fight!

Ash silently withdrew Zapdos, then sent out Moltres. Ron returned Zeraora, and Charizard took the field!

Then came Mega Evolution—Mega Charizard X appeared on the battlefield. Ash said seriously, "Moltres! Flamethrower!"

"Ash, there are differences even among Legendary Beasts. Your Three Legendary Birds haven't truly reached that level," Ron waved his hand and said. "Legendary or not, they're no match for me! Mega Charizard X, take the flames and then use Dragon Claw!"

Mega Charizard X roared, its claws glowing with Dragon energy. It raised its right claw in front of its chest. Moltres's Flamethrower, though powerful, was nothing compared to the flames of Ho-Oh that Charizard had comprehended!

Charizard tanked the Flamethrower head-on. Then, using its powerful back and wing muscles, it accelerated to an incredible speed. Moltres couldn't even react before Mega Charizard X caught it by the neck and carried it into the sky. A barrage of Dragon Claws followed, each one causing Moltres to scream in pain, unable to resist.

Under Ash's helpless gaze, Moltres plummeted to the ground. Mega Charizard X landed heavily, pinning Moltres beneath its foot. Today, it had achieved glory—crushing a Legendary Beast with the body of an ordinary Pokémon!

Ron watched silently. Today, his beginner Legendary Beasts may have dominated—but in the future, Charizard would still stand tall, trampling even the veteran Legendary Beasts beneath its feet!
