Chapter 122: Battle Against Lorelei (Part 1)
Lorelei took out a Poké Ball and looked at Ron on the opposite side, saying, "Ron, although we have a good relationship, in an Elite Four battle, I won't hold back."
"I wouldn't want it any other way," Ron said, holding a Ultra Ball.
The two threw out their Poké Balls at the same time. Appearing on the field were Zeraora and Dewgong.
Ron nodded: a slight type advantage.
"Zeraora, Plasma Fists!" Ron shouted.
Zeraora instantly turned into a stream of light rushing at Dewgong, its extreme speed creating a sonic boom in the air. It appeared in front of Dewgong in an instant and smashed down with its right fist.
"Dewgong, Aqua Ring, resist!" Lorelei entered battle mode, her expression turning cold, entering "icebound" mode.
A ring of water formed around Dewgong and pushed outward, directly forcing Zeraora away and giving it no chance to get close. Then a beam of Ice Beam hit Zeraora, who was dampened with water, freezing it into a block of ice.
"Supercharged state," Ron frowned.
The ice instantly shattered. Zeraora entered a supercharged state, then launched a Thunderbolt at Dewgong. But an ice wall immediately formed in front of Dewgong and blocked the Thunderbolt.
Ron secretly sighed: So Absolute Zero can be used this way!
But in the next second, an orange-yellow electric arc tore through space, piercing the ice wall directly and striking Dewgong, blasting it away.
"What?!" Lorelei was shocked. How could this ice wall formed by Absolute Zero be pierced so easily?
Looking at the spot where Dewgong was hit, a chunk of ice fell, and the ice wall collapsed. Zeraora withdrew its punching stance.
Ron smiled: As someone originally from Earth, he definitely knew about the Railgun. The system's modified version was also very powerful, though the flaw was obvious—it required gathering a large amount of electricity, the charging time was a bit long, and it was easily interrupted.
But the advantage was also obvious—huge power and strong penetration. Unless it was a tank-like Pokémon, it was basically a one-hit KO.
Dewgong, clearly a tank-type Pokémon, gasped for breath as it got back up. Lorelei frowned and said, "Rest to recover."
Dewgong instantly fell asleep, restoring all its HP. Ron didn't mind— a sleeping Dewgong was just a target! Zeraora's body crackled with electricity, and countless iron sands were drawn up from beneath the ground, forming a fist-sized iron ball.
Ron smiled: Just now, an ice block with a small amount of iron sand nearly KO'd Dewgong. Not to mention this iron sand sphere now!
Zeraora punched the iron sand sphere with great force, and that orange electric arc that tore through space reappeared, directly hitting the motionless Dewgong. This time, Dewgong lost the ability to battle while still asleep.
Ron looked at the fainted Dewgong and sighed: The Dewgong Lorelei trained really is a tank. Fortunately, he had the system grind ten black iron balls into iron sand and hid them beneath this battlefield.
That's right, Ron did cheat a little, but who could deny that in battle, time, place, and people are all essential? Since the match was arranged here, he had no reason not to give himself an advantage.
Lorelei looked at Zeraora surrounded by iron sand, recalled Dewgong, and said, "Go, Jynx."
"Zeraora, Electric Terrain," Ron said.
"Fake Out," Lorelei said.
Jynx, moving extremely fast, clapped its hands together and launched an energy beam from its palms, attacking Zeraora and interrupting its move while knocking it back.
Before Zeraora could react, Jynx had already closed in and planted a thick-lipped kiss on Zeraora's face. Zeraora immediately closed its eyes and fell asleep.
"Blizzard," Lorelei said.
After putting Zeraora to sleep with Lovely Kiss, Jynx launched a Blizzard right on its face, causing massive damage and also freezing Zeraora, nearly waking it up. Then came a follow-up round of Slaps that directly sent Zeraora flying.
Zeraora clutched its stinging face, now burning with rage. Without Ron needing to say anything, it turned into a flash and charged at Jynx for close combat.
But Jynx immediately used Trick Room, dodging Zeraora's attack. Then a Shadow Ball blasted Zeraora away, knocking it out of the battle.
Ron recalled Zeraora, his heart sinking. He had forgotten about the Trick Room skill, which made slow Pokémon fast and fast ones slow.
That instantly shut down his speed-focused strategy. Ron thought for a moment and released Aerodactyl. Now he had to rely on Aerodactyl's solid stats to stall out Trick Room and take down Jynx.
"Jynx, Mean Look," Lorelei said, "then Perish Song."
Ron frowned: Has she figured out my plan? Then there's only one way!
"Aerodactyl, Roar!" Ron commanded.
Aerodactyl's Roar forced Jynx to return, and the Mean Look then hit Aerodactyl. Next, a Weavile appeared on the field.
"Aerodactyl, Hyper Beam!" Ron said.
Weavile was also a speed-type Pokémon, not much slower than Aerodactyl. In Trick Room, it wasn't much faster either, so Ron decided to go with turret-style attacks!
"Weavile, Agility and Taunt," Lorelei said.
Weavile, benefiting from Trick Room, moved quickly to dodge Aerodactyl's Hyper Beam barrages, while making faces to provoke Aerodactyl, preventing it from using status moves.
But Ron didn't need status moves—Aerodactyl's Hyper Beam barrages were the best defense!
"Icicle Crash!" Lorelei shouted.
Large icicles formed above Aerodactyl's head and rained down. But Aerodactyl didn't care—in its eyes now, there was no type advantage, only normal damage or reduced damage.
The moment of delay while Weavile used Icicle Crash was the perfect time for Aerodactyl to strike.
The Hyper Beam blasted Weavile away, followed by a barrage of hits that made it scream in pain.
Lorelei had no choice but to recall Weavile, then sent out Lapras, saying, "Lapras, Mist, Ice Terrain."
Lapras sprayed a thick mist that covered the entire field, then used Absolute Zero, turning the field into an icy terrain. Seeing Lapras slow down, Aerodactyl grinned viciously: Trick Room had vanished!
"Rock Tomb, block its path," Ron said.
Aerodactyl roared as countless boulders rained down from above, crashing onto the icy battlefield. Lapras moved quickly on the ice, but none of the falling rocks hit it.
Outside the field, Pryce squinted and said softly, "Ron is really meticulous. The landing spots of those rocks almost completely block all of Lapras's fast-moving paths on the ice. In an instant, Lapras's speed was limited."
Lorelei noticed this too and said, "Rain Dance."
"Sandstorm!" Ron had no intention of letting Lorelei gain the weather advantage.
Using rain to increase the hit rate of Absolute Zero?
Ron laughed—he had already played that trick ages ago!
