He didn't say anything right away. Just stared — his expression unreadable, but his eyes locked with Zack's.
Ambrose took a deep breath, "Do you really think everything in this system is what it seems? That visions come without filters? Without manipulation?"
Zack clenched his fists. "So you're saying it was fake?"
"I'm saying…" Ambrose crossed his arms and looked down on the floor, his voice slow and steady, "…truth and illusion often wear the same mask. The system thrives on confusion. On fear."
"And maybe because you're all stressed and your mind was just playing tricks on you," he added.
He turned his head to meet Zack's eyes, "But if you want answers… you'll need more than just dreams. You'll need to survive."
After Ambrose said that, he lay back down and said, "Get some rest, you need it," then fully turned his back on him.
Zack stood up, and went back to where he was lying down before — beside Olivia.
