Cherreads

Chapter 8 - Ch6 – Stubborn, Huh?

I left Aahmes to his whims.

There was nothing I could do, anyway, and it isn't like I'd lose anything for letting him stay – he even replaced the washer he fried, and I get a good cook and a personal chauffeur to boot.

I could also use his competent intellect, particularly his dominant omega pheromones for my studies.

Truth be told, it's like I hit the jackpot!

If only he wasn't so intrusive.

"Professor, it is already 3 am," he said, barging inside my lab, "please have something to eat before you continue with your experiment."

"Wait. I'm almost done with my..." I blink and sigh. "Now look what you did! You made me lose count!"

"Good, put that aside and eat something."

And he grabs my chair and swivels me `round to face a tray with a BLT sandwich and his freshly brewed coffee.

I was about to complain, when I smell the bacon and realized that I was starving.

"Are you planning to fatten me and eat me up in the unforeseen future?"

"I just don't want you to get sick again," he replied. "When you collapsed last time, you fell asleep for a whole day."

"You have a point there... I actually lost 20 hours of research work that day."

"Twenty?" he asked. "You only rest for four hours?"

"Two," I replied. "Two two-hour naps"

"That is not enough."

"Four hours is better than none."

"That is why you get sick."

"Hay, nako, [an expression of exasperation] Aahmes, just shut up and count the molecules on the slide I prepared. You're the reason why I lost count, anyway."

Aahmes immediately went to my electron microscope and did as he was told.

He's fast, neat, and precise in his work. I can't find anything to criticize him about, aside from his stubbornness and frequent nagging.

"Is this the last slide?" he asked as I was about to finish my sandwich.

"Yeah, after that, I'll prepare the..."

"Then you should get ready for bed. We will leave for the lab tomorrow at 6 am."

"What? But I –"

"You have exactly 2 hours to sleep."

"No, I –"

"I will wake you up at 5:45."

"Ha?"

"You have a meeting at 7 am sharp."

He took my now empty cup of coffee and placed it back on the tray beside the empty sandwich saucer. "Now go to bed," he added, pulling me up to my feet.

"Wait! I'm not sleepy yet!" I complained as he held my shoulders and pushed me towards my room! "What are you doing?! I still have stuff to finish!"

"You need rest."

"I tell you, I'm not sleepy yet!"

"Then just lie on your bed for a while."

I glared at Aahmes.

He looked back at me with his emotionless face.

I frowned even more and looked down at the omega before me.

He just continued staring blankly at me, then started herding me back to my room again.

"Tsk!"

Just because you're a little stronger than me...

"Alright, alright, just stop pushing already!" I stomped towards my bed and angrily lay down, pulling my covers over me. "I'm just gonna rest for a bit!" I insisted.

"Close your eyes to rest them," he nagged.

"There! Now leave me alone!"

"Good."

He was right in front of me when I opened my eyes again. He was nudging my arm and was suddenly wearing a white suit with his long black hair tied in a neat ponytail.

"Wahh..."

I blink several times and yawn. I could hear birds chirping outside my window.

"I have prepared a suit for you," he pointed at a three piece suit hanging by my new dresser. "Go take a bath first."

"Fuck... did I fall asleep?"

"Like a baby," he replied. "Don't forget to shave."

I washed my face and went back in the room.

"I told you to take a bath and shave."

"I don't smell ye – "

"Do you want me to bathe you?"

I stare at him wide eyed.

Something tells me he actually meant that, so I immediately went back to the bathroom and took a quick shower and a shave before returning to the room.

"I believe we have the same size," he said, holding the expensive looking three piece suit. "You may be slightly taller, but I am bulkier than you."

He helped me dress up since I was still half asleep even after the warm shower. I'm not much of a morning person, after all.

"This is a Versagè," he droned on after air drying my hair.

Where did he even get a hair dryer?

"I can lend you an Armami if you prefer."

"Wha the hell are you talking about?" I mumbled while stifling a yawn.

"Never mind. Lift your leg."

Now he's making me wear a pair of dark gray slacks and a maroon vest.

"Why are you dressing me up? Didn't I tell you to attend that meeting on your own?"

"I am new here. The people there do not know me. I do not know them. I do not know what the meeting is about."

"You think I do?"

"You are our department head and the head researcher in this country's Universal Laboratory Omega Division..."

"In name."

"Then who else is in charge?" he asked.

"That..." I paused to think, "Pepe..."

"Pepe who?"

"That guy who joined the company with Pilar."

He looked at me blankly.

"He was my last personal assistant, I asked him to go to the karinderia [eatery] to buy me dinner, and never came back... that bastard... he ran off with my one grand!" [1,000 php is about 17 USD]

"Well, as your new personal assistant, you need to train me and show me how things are done here," insisted Aahmes who is currently tightening a noose around my neck. "You wouldn't want another washing machine incident, do you?"

"Ha?" I blink several more times as I stare at him rubbing his hands together and applying something to my hair.

"Waz that?"

"Some gel to tame your hair."

"Ah..." I yawn again.

"There."

He grimaced at me.

"What?!" I frowned at him.

"We're ready to go."

He turned me around to face a full length mirror I never knew I had, and suddenly, my sleepiness left me.

"Ku..." [bro...]

I was shocked, thinking that my big brother was haunting me.

A closer look at the mirror though, showed that the image has a more refined jaw, deeper, sleep deprived eyes, a scowling mouth, and was certainly taller than the kuya [brother] I remember.

"You clean up nicely," said Aahmes who was also staring at the 'me' in the mirror.

Just when was the last time I actually cleaned myself up?

I can't remember anymore...

I'm not used to dressing up, nor do I have a habit of looking at the mirror to admire myself.

"Let's go." Aahmes tapped my shoulder.

"Isn't it still too early to leave for the office?" I complained.

"The meeting is at seven in the East Omega Tower, I took in consideration the traffic and the time needed to get you ready." He looked at the expensive looking wristwatch on his left arm. "It is precisely 6:53, we have an hour to get to the office."

Again, he guided me out of the room and towards the staircase.

Just why is this omega idiot so strong?!

"I can walk on my own!" I snapped at him. "Where did you put my bag?"

"Right here."

He held up my satchel, as well as a pair of socks.

"Why do you not have leather shoes?" he asked, staring at the two pair of sneakers I left by the foot of the staircase.

I took my red chucks and sat on the steps to wear them. I was surprised when Aahmes knelt in front of me to help put them on.

"Looks like you're used to taking care of other people," I ridiculed him. "Are you sure you're a prince and not a butler?"

"I'm used to taking care of stubborn test subjects," he replied while tying my laces.

"Stubborn, huh? So I guess I'm just a test subject to you?"

"In a way," he replied, "I believe we are in a symbiotic relationship. We benefit from each other," he glanced at his wristwatch again, "and now, we need to leave."
