Chapter 1 - PROTAGONIST

When I came into this world, I saw a young girly mage, holding a wand and saying that they've succeeded in summoning a hero. And the crowd, royalty, nobles, knights and even peasants alike, shout in happiness and relief.

Is this what a hero is? The first thing I see is this place, no seeing my mother, no past life, I'm just, here. Nothing. Absolutely zero memories that lead me here. It's like I've just been born here. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter, I have a job to do.

I look at the sword in my hand and look at the female mage. "Mage girl, what is it that I need to do to complete my duty?" The mage girl claps her hand, looking at me with admiration in her eyes.

"E-eh? You didn't know what to do, Sir Hero? Well... A hero's job is to kill the demon king, Sir Hero! I'm sure you have the skills and abilities to do it!"

"Seems simple enough." I said as I immediately went to the door before the mage girl stopped me. "Wait sir hero! Aren't you going to need a party to defeat The Demon King?"

"A party? Introduce me to them then."

-----

"Sir Hero, this is the people that want to help you in defeating The Demon King."

The mage girl whose name is Lydia said to me. She introduced herself to me midway walking to the people that want to form a party with me. She pointed at the row of people in the room, each with their own weapon and abilities. There seems to be a high number of females here for some reason, both normal humans and humans with animal features.

Wonder why that is.

Well at least there's still some male there, albeit there's like, at maximum, 5 while there's 20 to 50 females.

"Sir Hero! Here's Alice, she's a mage like me and she..."

Lydia began to introduce them all one by one but I put my hand on her shoulder, making her stop herself and look at me. "Don't worry, I can tell what their abilities are just by looking at them."

Lydia put her hand down and I point at 4 girls, already knowing their name just by looking at them.

"The mage with the sealed book, the devilish nun, the dragon priestess, the transported school girl and lastly..."

I put my hand on Lydia and smile at her.

"You, Lydia, you're one of the people I picked for my party. You're a summoner after all." I said to her and her eyes tears up.

"Ahh.. ahhh... WAHHHH! I GOT TO BE IN A PARTY WITH THE LEGENDARY SIR HERO!?!??!!" Lydia grabbed me and shook me violently. "IS IT TRUE SIR HERO!? OR MAYBE I'M DREAMING, PLEASE PINCH ME SIR HERO!"

I grabbed her arms and held her still. "Relax girl, and yes, this is reality, you're not in the dream world."

"Waa.... WAAAAHHHHH" Lydia cried out in happiness. I rubbed her head and held her close.

The Hero is a famous figure huh...

I look at the other girls that I picked, Alice Argatroid the mage with the sealed book, Lydia Wynn the mage who summons, Clara Abbott the devilish and mischievous nun, Miya Rii the dragon priestess of the Rii family and Hina Ehara the transported teenage school girl.

"Hahh... Alright you five, let's go and defeat The Demon King."

"Yes dear, let's finish it quickly." The blonde girl named Alice.

"Alright, Sir Hero! I hope I will be of use to you!" The green haired girl named Lydia.

"Oh darling, your wish is my command~." The pink long haired girl named Clara.

"My family will be indebted to you, master." The long blue haired girl named Miya.

"I didn't think I would be a companion to an isekaid hero! This is such a dream come true!" The black haired girl named Hina.

And so we set out on our adventure.

-----

"If you don't mind me asking, what's your reason for trying to get into the party of The Hero, Alice?"

I asked her and Alice unconsciously held her sealed book close to her chest.

"It's fine if you don't want to-"

"No... I have to, I can't keep hiding things from you if I want to continue being with you, dear."

She let out a deep breath and gave me her sealed book.

"Please dear... Open it... I... I'm still such a coward for not telling you myself."

"..."

I look at the sealed book before returning back to my tent.

-----

With no one around, I opened the sealed book Alice gave me.

As I dispel the magic on the book, something unexpected happened.

Memories begin flooding into my mind, memories of Alice Argatroid.

I experience her life in her place, I feel and see things she had, I go through all of her pain and despair as she once became an apprentice of a demon archmage, killing her own family to learn the dark arts.

I sigh and closed the book and seal it again.

So that's what you've been through, you're interested in something terrible and you got paid the price for it. Betrayed by your own teacher.

And now you wanted revenge for manipulating you, for betraying you and leaving you dead in a ditch somewhere until you somehow got a way to appease the kingdom and got in my party.

I got out of my tent, seeing Alice right in front of me and she looked at me with her eyes widened.

"A-ah..h... How are you alive...?"

"That's some nasty book you have, Alice, here, I've sealed it again."

"Ah.. uhm.. Ahem! Yes dear, looks like my secret is exposed to you, I thought the book is too much for you but you conquered it, dear. I hope you hide the secret safe." She winked at me, making the other girls who were spying on us jealous of her having private time with me.

-----

"Say Lydia..."

"A-ah, yes? Sir Hero?" The girl looked at me cutely, tilting her head and looking at me with a naive look.

"You seem to know a lot of the histories of past heroes, could you tell me what you know?" Her eyes brightened up as she took out a thick book.

"I'm glad you asked, Sir Hero! You see, it all started when the reign of The Demon King..."

She then began monologuing about past heroes and their adventures. About how each time The Demon King got defeated but somehow they always came back alive.

I see.

As long as she's been growing up, she always heard about the heroic tales of heroes. A good childhood she has, I must say.

I put my hand on her head, making her stop talking, and I began to rub her head and she purred.

So this is what an isekaid fantasy is huh, not anything special but it's still an ecstatic experience nonetheless.

"We will be together forever, Sir Hero."

She said as she looks at me with a dreamy look before falling to sleep.

-----

"Watch out darling~."

I quickly ducked as Clara thrust her spear into the zombie right behind me.

"I thank you, Clara." I said as I swung my sword, slashing down the remaining zombies.

"Ooh dear~ he thanks me, what am I going to do~?." Clara begins to rub her own body while looking at me lustfully.

I just sighed and sat down on the ground, she sat beside me, poking at my arm.

"... You're a succubus aren't you? One of the sub-races of demons."

The mischievous nun smirked and pointed her spear tip at my neck.

"Straight to the point I see~. But darling, we're alone. No one's here to help you. So tell me, my darling, what're you going to do?"

"...I should be saying that to you, half-succubus."

"E-eh? What-"

"A daughter to a human mother and incubus father. You got shunned and are alone, right? You have nowhere to go, but maybe, you thought that maybe, if you kill me, the hero, the demon race will accept you as their own and you finally live a normal life without any struggles."

"H-how... How did you kno-"

"But not to worry, my dear Clara. You'll not be abandoned, I will take care of you and protect you. I'm a destined hero who will save everyone after all."

Clara's eyes begin tearing up. Is this it? Has she finally found somewhere she belongs?

"Ah... Ahh..." She wiped her tears away and looked at me, the hero. "Oh my darling~..."

The spear fell to the floor as Clara Abbott got closer to me and pressed her lips to me.

"I love you, my darling~"

The moon seems beautiful today as it shines down the moonlight to our intimate moment.

-----

"Greetings, master. How was your day?"

Miya Rii says as she opened the door for me. "You don't really mind sleeping with me huh?"

She shook her head while smiling at me. "No master, how else should I protect you if I can't be beside you when you're sleeping?"

"Hahh, whatever." I said as I got in my bedroom with her closing the door behind her. Picking up a book on the bed and looking through it.

"I must say, master, not all heroes in the past have interest in our literature." She walked up and sat beside me, having a cup of coffee in her hand. "And this blend of beans too tastes divine, I'm happy that you decided to share your customs in our world too, master."

"It's nothing, anyway, could I have a sip too?" I asked and she obliged, giving me the cup of coffee that she had just drank from, to me. "I actually haven't experienced the taste of coffee yet, I just know how to make it and what it tastes like."

She raised her eyebrows at me but said nothing, it doesn't matter after all.

-----

"You said you were a priestess right? What god do you worship then, Miya Rii?"

"You didn't know master? My family and I worship the Water Dragon God, one of the four Dragon Gods protecting the land."

Her eyes flared up for a second before looking calm and sighing. "Right, I forgot that you're from another world, master. I almost got mad at you for not knowing such a common thing."

She sat right in front of me and began to tell me the history of The Dragon Gods, it's like she's a teacher.

But I quickly stopped her by putting my hand on her shoulder, making her stop herself.

"You don't need to, priestess. I was just testing you." I stood up and looked down at her. "The truth is, priestess, is that I was just curious at how loyal you are to your family and the god you worship. And I'm proud of you that you seem to have proven yourself to me that you're a trustworthy and loyal individual. And for that, I accept you in my party."

"I.. I see, then thank you master, for accepting me to your party." She stood up and bowed down at me and I put my hand up. "No no, don't bow at me, we're all humans anyway, the only thing you should bow to is a higher being like a god or something."

I sighed and put my hand down. "Anyway, I'm curious. Why did you decide to join the party? I didn't see any priestesses from the other family in that room."

"Oh, I didn't tell you master? It's to create strong descendants with you, master." She said as she got closer to me, putting her hand behind my back and rubbing a specific spot of my body with her other hand while looking at me sultry.

"The other families have already created strong descendants with the past heroes, and our family is the last one currently not having direct descendants of any heroes." She slowly pushed me to the bed.

"So master, please grant the wishes of our family."

-----

"So why did you pick me anyway?" Hina Ehara said curiously to me. "I'm the weakest of everyone here after all, all I have is this now and some small daggers." She took the small dagger out of her pocket before putting it back.

"It's because you're a person from another world too, right?"

"Ah!? How did you..." She looks at her school uniform and looks back at me before facepalming. "God I'm so stupid..."

"It's pretty easy to deduce that you're from another world with your strange clothes."

"Yeah but... Isekai usually brings people from the modern world to another world. But you don't look like you're from there, in fact, you look like you don't belong anywhere!" She pointed at me accusingly.

"The clothes you wore, it gives a strange vibe y'know. Like, 'what is this unknown shit I'm feeling' kinda vibe y'know." She walked up to me and poked my chest multiple times.

"Like seriously, you're weird, in a weird way if that makes any sense." She sighed as she put her hand down.

"But still, you're still the protagonist here, the hero who will save the day. The one who will defeat The Demon King. So, one day, when the time comes, I hope you will protect me."

-----

"Is what my naive past self said huh? You didn't have to remind me y'know." Hina Ehara said as she's holding the wound in her stomach. "You don't need to stay here. Leave, the rest are waiting." She looks up at me.

"No, you're on your death bed, school girl. It'll be a shame to just let you suffer a lonely death after what you did for me." I said as I sat down right beside her.

"I will be here right beside you until the end of your life."

"Heh, the only memorable thing I did for you is teaching you how to correctly brew a cup of coffee... Kaugh!." She coughed up blood, her eyes slowly fading away.

She cast one last look at me, her hand raised up to touch my face.

"... Promise me to give me a proper funeral okay? A modern, proper funeral..." Her body goes limp, her life has ended.

And thus one of the members of the hero party has died.

-----

"So this is it huh?" I said as we all stood right in front of The Throne of The Demon King's room.

We four, me, Lydia Wynn, Clara Abbott and Miya Rii are ready to take on The Demon King.

The others of our party, Hina Ehara, have died in the hands of the demons while Alice Argatroid said she has something important she must do and left the party.

"... Are you ready, everyone?" I said as I looked at them as I put my hand on the door.

"Of course, Sir Hero! We're always ready!" Lydia said with high conviction and determination. Seems like this journey has given her some growth, some character development.

"Why of course darling~. I'll protect you from sneak attacks." Clara said seductively, but even then, there's some fire in her eyes. Revenge for making her suffer huh?

"Master, I'll take care of any range attacks. All you have to do is kill The Demon King." Miya said as she continued to cast buff spells and such on us.

I nodded at them and opened the door.

-----

"It's a peaceful day isn't." I said with a cup of coffee in my hand, laying on the bed with Lydia resting her head on my shoulder.

I took the cover off and got up from my bed, prying off her hands on me. "Mmmm... Sir Hero..." Lydia said as she sleeps, she must have a good dream huh.

I got out of the bedroom to the smell of Clara's cooking in the morning.

"Ah! Good morning darling~ you surprise me there~." The nun said as she's dressed in a naked apron, wiggling her butt at me. "Darling, you're such a good man~, letting me dress like this and somehow convincing the other girls that it's okay for me to do it~."

I just sighed. "Where's Miya, dear?I want to help her with the gardening."

Clara pouted at me. "You have a perfectly fuckable girl here, darling, a perfect girl for you to bend her over the table as she struggles to cook for her dear husband~. But fine, she's in the carrot farm of the garden." She winked at me. "Just promised me to spend some alone time with me okay?"

"Hahh, alright." I smiled at her before going outside to the garden, going to the carrot farm.

After a bit of walking, I say Miya Rii with her hair tied up in a ponytail, wearing gardening clothes with dirt covering her as she puts the harvested carrots in the basket beside her. She wiped the sweats on her forehead before noticing me getting closer and her eyes light up.

"Ah master! What're you doing here? Did you want to help me too?" I noticed something in what she said.

"Too?"

"Yeah, apparently some traveler came by looking for you, master, he offered his help while he's waiting for you."

"Hmm... Then where is he, dear?"

"Oh he's just right outside the garden. Even when he offered to help me, he didn't trespass and only helped at the exterior of the garden."

And so I walked outside of the garden to greet our soon to be guest.

-----

"... The world shouldn't revolve around you, especially not to this extent. You're different, different than most. The world only moves if you demand it, it's like everything that's out of your sight disappears, it's like, the only thing that matters is you and your story. You didn't even focus on the backstory of your own companionship. And I'm pretty sure they don't know your backstory too, because the only thing that matters to you is the present story of your life... This... This isn't how a story of this world is supposed to be." You said coldly as you look at the person in front of you.

"...what?" I said in confusion. "How did you find out?"

"That doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The truth is." You snapped your finger and pointed at the sole person behind this.

"First person perspective, your version of it anyway, shouldn't exist in this world."
