Chapter 26 - A Surprise

Noticing their enthusiasm, Arthur simply gave a faint smile, his eyes carrying a dismissive glint.

'Vanessa's status as the eldest daughter of the Maple Leaf Trading House is indeed valuable,' he murmured softly.

To everyone, including the nobles, Vanessa was an untouchable and regal figure.

As the heiress of the Maple Leaf Trading House, she was seen as a goddess of wealth.

Unfortunately, Vanessa was an incredibly arrogant woman with an inflated sense of self-worth.

Even Celine, the First Daughter of the Duke of Everhart's family, was beneath her notice and was instead looked down upon.

The reason Arthur was able to secure the position of Vanessa's representative for Celine's birthday party was entirely due to the relationship between the real Aron and Vanessa in the story.

In The Rise of the Unwanted Queen storyline, Vanessa was one of the women who loved Aron. Her love ran so deep that it turned into possessiveness.

Unfortunately, Aron never showed the slightest interest in Vanessa and frequently used her feelings for his own gain.

Given Aron's true nature in the story, that wasn't surprising.

'Aron in the storyline is really stupid and stubborn,' Arthur whispered, sighing with regret.

Being loved by a woman like Vanessa was a blessing that millions of men in this world could only dream of.

Yet instead of accepting it, Aron ignored her, leaving her hanging without any certainty.

Besides stupid, Arthur couldn't think of a better word to describe him.

Putting his thoughts aside, Arthur took a black letter from his pocket and handed it to Celine.

"This is the invitation letter you sent to Young Lady Vanessa," he said in a gentle yet slightly indifferent tone. "With this, you can trust me as her representative, right?"

Arthur was no fool. Simply claiming to be Vanessa's representative wasn't enough—without solid proof, Celine and the sons and daughters of noble families would undoubtedly doubt him.

That was why he had to present his weapon in person, ensuring he could move more freely at the party that was about to begin.

As soon as Celine saw the invitation letter, her eyes lit up.

The black letter was a specially designed invitation meant only for Vanessa. To her, Vanessa's status was so exalted that it even surpassed Cassius's.

With that letter in hand, any lingering doubt in her heart vanished.

She carefully took the invitation, tucked it into her pocket, and bowed her head slightly in respect.

"Celine Everhart welcomes your arrival, Young Master Avaron," she greeted in a more respectful and gentle tone.

The young masters and ladies behind her quickly followed suit, offering a slight bow and a respectful gesture.

In the presence of a representative from the largest Trading House on the continent, proper etiquette was a given.

After all, who knew if fortune might smile upon them later?

Arthur's expression remained unchanged despite the courtesy shown by Celine and the sons and daughters of the noble families.

He simply gave a small nod and replied, "Thank you, Young Lady Celine. By the way, I brought my partner to this party. That shouldn't be a problem, should it?"

His words caught Celine off guard. She had assumed Arthur came alone and hadn't expected him to bring a companion.

The thought irritated her, stirring an unexpected sense of jealousy.

Whoever Arthur's partner was, she was surely both stunning and incredibly fortunate.

Even so, Celine kept her composure, maintaining a polite smile as she nodded.

"Don't worry, Young Master Avaron. How could it be a problem? On the contrary, it would be an honor for us," she replied solemnly.

Arthur chuckled inwardly. He was curious to see if Celine could keep up her composed demeanor once she saw who his escort was.

Turning toward the open carriage door, he called out, "My dear, come out."

As soon as he spoke, an extraordinarily beautiful woman stepped out of the carriage.

The moment Celine and Cassius laid eyes on her, their expressions froze.

"Sharon!?"

...

"Lord, I have important news to report."

A servant hurriedly ran in before stopping right in front of a dashing man seated on a sofa.

The man was well-built, his face adorned with a thick beard. Faint wrinkles lined his stern features, yet they did nothing to dull the sharpness in his eyes.

A heroic aura radiated from him, exuding a faint pressure over those around him.

Closing the book he had been reading, he turned to the servant with an indifferent gaze.

"What's the matter? Did something happen at Celine's birthday party?" He asked in a cold voice, though a hint of gentleness remained on his face.

The servant lowered his head and replied in a trembling tone, "There were no issues at Young Lady Celine's birthday party, Lord. However, I must inform you that Young Lady Vanessa unexpectedly sent a representative to attend!"

The man's expression froze for a brief moment before he quickly regained his composure.

"Are you certain he is truly Vanessa's representative? Could he be an imposter or a deceiver?" he asked suspiciously.

The invitation Celine had sent to Vanessa was, in fact, his idea.

He had hoped to build a connection with Vanessa to establish a partnership that would benefit the Everhart family.

Unfortunately, he knew that the chances of Vanessa attending were slim. She was incredibly busy, and he was well aware of that.

Now, this servant was suddenly claiming that Vanessa had responded to the invitation and sent a representative instead—news that both excited and raised his suspicions.

The servant lifted his head and shook it firmly.

"The representative is not an impostor, Lord. Young Lady Celine has already confirmed it. Moreover, he brought the special invitation we had sent to Young Lady Vanessa. So, there is no doubt—he is truly her representative!" the servant explained hurriedly.

The man's eyes narrowed slightly before a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"Very good!" he exclaimed with satisfaction, rising to his feet. "Make sure the representative is well accommodated and not troubled by the arrogant sons and daughters of the noble families. His presence is an opportunity for our Everhart family to move forward. Do not forget that!"

Hearing his command, the servant straightened up and nodded resolutely.

"As you command, Lord!"
