Dinner was great. The food? Amazing. The company? Surprisingly tolerable. But the moment Lexus walked into the kitchen with that serious, no-nonsense look on his face, I knew I had possibly, maybe, definitely overdone it with my little stunt earlier.
"After doing the dishes I want to talk to you," he said, leaning against the counter. His tone was calm, but I wasn't fooled.
"Then talk," I shot back, rinsing a plate.
He gave me a look that said ," baby, I'm the one in charge here."
"Once you're done with the dishes," he repeated, before turning on his heel and walking away.
I rolled my eyes. Dishes first, then judgment. Got it.
I scrubbed the plates extra hard, like they knew what's up. Halfway through, Dad called, thanking me for spending time with Luna. Apparently, she'd been going on and on about our little adventure. I smiled, assuring him I loved having her over.
