Orpheus' words were a statement.

Not a question.

Lady Karina glanced up at him, studying the splash pattern of ocean blue that filled a portion of his left iris.

In more ways than one, it was mesmerising, and she struggled to keep her focus.

Truth be told, her distaste for his marriage proposal wasn't simply because it was him.

There were other reasons.

"I believe you are clever with your words and will tell me whatever you wish in order to gain your way," Lady Karina said frankly. "I requested that you stop with your kisses; hence, you propose I be your wife so that I will allow you to have your way."

Orpheus was taken aback by her conclusion.

Did she have to think so bitterly about his proposal?

He cocked an eyebrow, which drew her attention away from the mesmerising dual shades of his eyes.
