"Did you expect Lady Drosera to starve in the vault?" Lady Karina gathered her wits and spoke firmly this time. She hid her hands behind her back for they were trembling; whether from the cold or fear, she did not know.
Orpheus raised an eyebrow at her question.
"I understand she is to be punished, but she is not an animal," Lady Karina continued, her pretty emerald eyes flashing almost defiantly. "Your knights would not allow me to go to her, so I sought my own way of doing it. I merely wanted to bring her food."
Orpheus studied her features carefully, searching for any signs of deceit, but it seemed the lady could be formidable when she wanted to.
There were no signs of a lie, as much as he had searched for one.
"That does not excuse the fact that you disobeyed my orders," Orpheus replied acerbically.
