Chapter 55: Guidelines for the Use of Sacrificial Summoning

Looking at the DemiDevimon, whose face was flushed and making muffled noises, Dark couldn't help but break into a cold sweat.

"That was close!"

"Having the DemiDevimon around is really great!"

Dark quickly picked up his notebook to record the effects.

This flower card had clearly undergone a qualitative change, and based on the power boost from the flower card itself, its effect should be more significant than that of [Pride I].

"Temporarily recorded as [Lust I]."

"From its manifestation, it appears to be at least the ultimate version of a [Joy Card]. Just a faint wisp of its aura was enough to plunge the DemiDevimon into an uncontrollable state of ecstasy."

"But why did the apricot blossom card succeed while the red plum blossom card failed under the same treatment?"

"Is it because of the difference in flower types?"

"That seems a bit too idealistic."

Dark wrote in his notes: Perhaps the apricot blossom is more compatible with [Lust].

To prove this conclusion, he would need to conduct more experiments.

But before that, he needed to thoroughly study [Lust I].

Dark pulled out [Magic Beast: Eevee] from his card pouch and summoned little Eevee.

"Eevee~"

Eevee tilted her head and looked at him.

Dark felt a pang of guilt for a moment, but in the end, he hardened his heart and gave the command.

Eevee, whose intelligence level had already reached 2.5, showed a hint of resentment but still jumped onto the table and pressed her paw onto the pink flower card.

A wisp of mist seeped out from the flower card. Eevee slightly narrowed her eyes, her cheeks flushed, and her body swayed slightly.

However, she didn't pass out in ecstasy like the DemiDevimon had.

After a couple more taps, no more mist emerged from the flower card.

Dark concluded that it was likely just a leakage of aura during the refinement process.

He first tried touching it with a magic pen, then with his own hand, and finally held the flower card in his palm.

A few minutes later.

The DemiDevimon wobbled awake, but as soon as it lifted its head, it saw that despicable Eevee softly lying in its master's arms, licking his fingers.

Then, it noticed the pink card in its master's other hand and immediately closed its eyes, playing dead!

"Magic Summon!"

Dark activated [Lust I] for the first time.

In an instant.

A faint glow appeared on [Lust I], and pink petals suddenly surged out, no longer resembling apricot blossoms but taking the form of an entirely unfamiliar flower of ecstasy.

These petals turned into a thin mist upon contact with the air and, guided by Dark's magic, rushed toward the DemiDevimon, which was pretending to be dead!

"Waaah!"

The DemiDevimon let out a scream as it was enveloped by the pink mist.

Soon after, Dark had a panting DemiDevimon perched on his head...

After conducting further experiments with Eevee, Dark finally arrived at the results.

The effect of [Lust I] was significantly stronger than that of [Pride I], though it fell short of [Pride II].

The duration was about 15 minutes, longer than that of [Pride I], and its cooldown was shorter, requiring only 30 minutes.

Preliminary estimates suggested that this [Lust I] had likely reached the limit of what a single drop of sin could achieve.

Additionally, Eevee's intelligence level increased to 3.0 after returning to normal.

As for the DemiDevimon, its condition was harder to assess.

...

Dark was satisfied as he recorded all the data.

He then paused the experiments.

In the afternoon, he used the magic brain dropper to extract another drop of [Pride] and attempted to place the dropper's tip near the Cat Grass's mouth. However, the Cat Grass seemed completely uninterested in the dropper and refused to take a single sip.

Not wanting to waste it, Dark injected the drop of [Pride] back into the insect branch.

Unexpectedly, the Cat Grass suddenly seemed to catch a whiff of something enticing and pounced on it, meowing as it began to suck.

The sprout on its head then visibly grew!

Dark observed and recorded the changes, feeling exceptionally pleased.

Seventeen minutes after the Cat Grass had fully absorbed the drop of [Pride], the sprout on its head stopped growing, but it had already formed a small bud!

...

By the weekend afternoon, Dark extracted another drop of [Pride] and injected it into the insect branch.

The Cat Grass, as usual, pressed its two paws onto the insect branch and sucked vigorously!

The bud on its head grew larger and larger!

Gradually, it reached the point where it was about to bloom!

Dark excitedly recorded the data: "At this rate, just one more drop should make it bloom, and perhaps two more drops will make it bear fruit!"

But after finishing his notes, he suddenly realized that he had already used up his monthly quota for extracting [Pride], and his spirits sank.

"Meow~"

"Meow meow meow!"

...

Before he knew it, Monday morning arrived.

After two and a half days of rest, the young mages threw themselves back into their busy academic routines.

In the first Summoning class of the week, Teacher Sarah finally began teaching one of the advanced techniques of normal summoning Sacrificial Summoning!

Sacrificial Summoning is a special summoning technique developed to address the excessively long summoning times of four-star and higher magic spirit cards.

Magic spirit cards are divided into tiers based on their star ratings: the first tier includes one to three stars, the second tier includes four to six stars, the third tier includes seven to nine stars, and the fourth tier includes anything above nine stars.

With each higher tier, the casting time and cooldown for normal summoning increase significantly.

For the first tier, the summoning time can be compressed to a maximum of 3 seconds.

For the fourth star, it takes at least 1 minute.

For the seventh star, it requires at least 30 minutes.

For nine stars and above, it takes a minimum of 3 hours, with some magic spirits even requiring days, nights, or even months of continuous casting to be summoned!

In the early days of magic technology development, even if mages possessed high-level magic spirit cards, it was difficult to summon them in the heat of battle.

Every summoning of a high-tier magic spirit required a large number of people to provide protection.

It wasn't until about thirty years ago that a special summoning technique, whose origins remain unknown, came to light. This technique allowed mages to summon higher-tier magic spirits by sacrificing lower-tier ones, successfully reducing the summoning time.

However, each sacrifice would cause irreversible damage to the lower-tier magic spirit cards.

It wasn't until modern times that this technology was revolutionized, no longer causing damage to lower-tier magic spirit cards, further shortening the summoning time, and officially being named "Sacrificial Summoning."

The core of Sacrificial Summoning lies in the accumulation of star ratings.

✪ + ✪ = ✪✪

✪✪ + ✪✪ = ✪✪✪✪

✪ + ✪✪ + ✪✪✪✪ = ✪✪✪✪✪✪✪

It's not about the number of cards but simply the accumulation of star ratings.

The essential rule is that to summon a third-tier magic spirit, the sacrificial offerings must include at least one second-tier magic spirit, and so on.

...

Teacher Sarah demonstrated the technique in class, summoning a six-star magic spirit in just 15 seconds, leaving the young mages in awe.

Sacrificial Summoning shares a cooldown with normal summoning, with the shortest casting time and cooldown also being 3 seconds.

...

It was at this moment that Dark realized his 8-second summoning time was far from sufficient.

"Stay humble and patient!"

Just as he was skillfully zoning out, he suddenly noticed something unusual about Virt, who was also sitting in the back row.

→Was he using a flower card to reflect light on someone?
