Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Dark Demon Infiltrates the Night

Chapter 66: Dark Demon Infiltrates the Night

The sky had gradually darkened, and the moon had risen in the west.

Dark paused to pet his cat for a moment before finishing the dinner delivered by the DemiDevimon. Then, he started his second round of experiments.

This time, he began with the basic synthesis method for a [Plant Species - Light Attribute].

However, the results were far from ideal.

Having had success creating the [Trash Slime], he initially thought the "Plant Species" classification was correct.

But that didn't seem to be the case.

Perhaps the [Trash Slime] could be synthesized because his fingernails were the actual core material.

On the other hand, when he used the basic synthesis method for [Beast Species - Light Attribute], the process went surprisingly smoothly.

However, during the final step of adding the core material, the cat grass's fur was clearly insufficient!

No matter how many strands of cat fur he poured into Synthesis Circle No. 1, the circle's light remained dim.

This phenomenon was mentioned in the textbook it was caused by the core material's inadequate quality!

Dark immediately realized that the [Beast Species - Light Attribute] method was likely the correct approach, but the cat fur, having absorbed only a tiny amount of [Pride], wasn't enough to complete the magic card.

It required a higher-quality core material!

Specifically, the fruit born from the union of the cat grass and [Pride].

"Finally, I've confirmed the use of the fruit," Dark exclaimed, overjoyed.

Cat fur was plentiful, but there was only one fruit.

All the previous failures had paved the way for this final success.

He picked up his pen and wrote in his notebook:

① Beast Species

② Light Attribute

③ Fruit (Pride)

...

The experiment came to a temporary halt.

Now, all he had to do was wait until the beginning of next month.

Dark set up a lounge chair on the balcony, cradled the cat grass, and began reading The Fashion Master for leisure.

He wasn't particularly interested in transformation cards, but that very fact allowed him to read without any pressure.

The opening of The Fashion Master introduced a simple method for creating transformation cards, while the rest of the book was filled with various bizarre costume designs.

Dark even came across an outfit with an "S" embroidered on the front and a "B" on the back.

In any case, it was quite entertaining.

...

Time passed gradually.

The moonlight grew brighter.

Just as Dark was about to doze off, a purple butterfly with a long, glowing tail fluttered gracefully into his view.

A few seconds later,

Dark suddenly jolted awake, his body instantly straightening.

"Meow!"

The cat grass cried out as it was jostled.

Dark's eyes widened as he watched pink and purple butterflies continuously fly out of the room, their long glowing tails forming a dazzling galaxy, exuding an air of mystery and beauty.

"What's going on?"

Dark picked up the cat grass and placed it on the lounge chair, then quickly walked into the room. He retrieved the Butterfly Orchid Card from the card pouch on his desk.

Without any infusion of magic, the card activated on its own.

Butterflies continuously flew out of the card, dancing around it.

Dark glanced at the wall clock: 9:43 PM.

Normally, he would have been preparing for bed by now.

But today, having invested so much energy in his experiments, he had ended up dozing off while reading.

Still, it wasn't a big deal.

In fact, the short nap had left him feeling refreshed.

He frowned but ultimately put on the school uniform jacket hanging on the coat rack.

He checked his cards and strapped on the card pouch.

The origin of the flower card was tied to the reduction of [Lust], making it extremely important to him.

"I feel like if I don't act soon, the opportunity will slip away."

"Professor Kazel's actions clearly indicate he wants me to investigate further."

"But he himself seems unwilling to take direct action, as if he's in a conflicted state of mind."

"Is there some difficult decision holding him back?"

"Should I trust him?"

...

Dark quickly walked to the door, but as he opened it, he suddenly thought of something. He turned back and retrieved the [Tuxedo Mask Set] from the drawer, adding it to his card pouch.

"Without realizing it, I've already collected nine cards."

By nearly 10 PM, the common room of the Noble House was completely empty.

Dark descended the stairs, and the magic lamps on the walls automatically lit up.

He didn't linger in the common room but instead pushed the door open and stepped outside.

The golem guarding the tower was coiled up, its eyes closed, showing no reaction.

Dark quickly crossed the bridge and entered the interior of the castle.

St. Maryan's castle was a labyrinth of passages, and every evening, golems patrolled the halls.

However, before midnight, the golems only issued warnings. After midnight, they switched to "guard" mode, arresting any students they found.

Thus, midnight marked the castle's curfew.

Dark took out his house card and summoned the DemiDevimon.

Sensing Dark's intentions, the DemiDevimon couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

The monotonous life at the academy had been suppressing its true nature.

It was a DemiDevimon, destined to stand above the heavens!

The night was its domain.

The night sky held its throne!

"Come here."

"Woof woof!"

Dark frowned at the DemiDevimon's ever-changing expressions and sighed. "Do you remember the path we took last time when we followed Virt? Take me there."

The DemiDevimon immediately regained its composure and nodded eagerly. "Of course I remember! Who do you think I am?"

Dark smiled. "Then hurry up."

The night was indeed a fitting environment.

It felt as if the emotions he had been suppressing were finally finding an outlet, slowly seeping out.

He waved his hand, and the butterflies followed his guidance, forming a colorful ribbon.

Professor Kazel had said that this flower card would guide him to the source, but in reality, the butterflies were simply fluttering around the card, aimlessly.

Dark guessed it was because the distance was too great.

Fortunately, he had followed Virt part of the way before, so he could get closer now.

Thus, he followed the DemiDevimon, moving quickly. First, they arrived at the moon-viewing windowsill from before, then descended to the next floor, crossed an external bridge, and entered another section of the castle.

While carefully avoiding the golems, they continued forward.

After about ten minutes, Dark finally reached the large statue of the Archmage where he had hidden last time.

It was here that the butterflies suddenly reacted, flying in a specific direction.

"Here we go."

Dark realized he was within range.

Last time, the DemiDevimon had lost track of Virt not far from here.

Considering this was a game world derived from Harry Potter, it was impossible for the castle not to have secret passages.

Virt must have used a secret passage to evade the DemiDevimon's tracking.

Dark followed the butterflies until they stuck to a wall and stopped moving.

He realized that his destination must be somewhere beyond the wall.

"This direction?"

Dark narrowed his eyes and quickly searched the wall.

As he infused a trace of magic, his finger suddenly sank into the wall!

After a moment of shock, Dark immediately ordered the DemiDevimon to take the lead and slip inside.

But before the DemiDevimon could enter, the butterflies swarmed in!

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed behind him.

Dark's expression changed. He grabbed the DemiDevimon, pushed it into the wall, and slipped in himself.
