Imagine the headline.
* James Lindemann, the president of Aurora Media, was trying to take advantage of new students at an Hotel & Restaurant.
* Hinting at insider trading in the entertainment industry.
If these two titles were posted on Instagram or Twitter, they would definitely cause a huge sensation and uproar in the city.
Seeing James being angry but not being able to say anything made Emily feel so happy.
"Please, leave." Wayne saw that she didn't intend to pursue the matter, so he didn't embarrass the Aurora company's manager and his men any more. He waved at them and said. Finally, he gave them a piece of advice, "I understand you're in a position of power in the society, but don't go around taking advantage of others. It's not proper."
"Thank you, officer." The young man behind James Lindemann nodded and smiled, responding repeatedly.
Although James was unwilling, he couldn't say anything. He just glared at Emily and left.
Looking at his departing back, she made a face at James, as if she was gloating over his misfortune. It was really fun to watch that expression of someone who dared not speak but was angry but had no place to vent his anger.
"Emily, he didn't do anything to you, did he?" Jasper asked. After all, they were all neighbors, and it was normal to show appropriate concern.
"No, I'm not easy to be bullied? Any scum who meets me will be in big trouble!" Emily raised her eyes, showing the arrogance in her bones.
"Haha...you girl!" Jasper shook his head and laughed. He must have thought she was joking. How could a girl who had no life experience get such confidence and courage? Wasn't she too arrogant?
Emily rolled her eyes inwardly, thinking, what did he know? She traveled from the future and lived her adult life all over again, how could she not know the world? But it didn't matter. Ordinary people like Jasper wouldn't understand it at all.
"But thank you still for helping me today." She looked at Jasper and Wayne and thanked them in a friendly manner.
"Why are you sounding different today?" Jasper said jokingly.
Emily rolled her eyes at him and said "You're making me look like a bad person."
"Haha... I was just joking. You're really a nice girl." Getting back to the point, Jasper said seriously, "By the way, how do you know the General Manager of Aurora Media?"
Jasper was puzzled. She was obviously a young nurse from a medical school, so how could she have contacts with people in the media industry?
"Well, actually I wanted to apply to be an actor, but I didn't expect that their manager would be such a person." She spread her hands, expressing her bewilderment.
Jasper nodded thoughtfully and said, "Yeah, he knew you're just a young lady, new to society. That's why you should be careful in everything you do. Do you need me to help you find a hospital to work in?"
To be honest, she believed Jasper had the power. With his current status and position, it should be no problem for him to arrange a job for her in a hospital. However, she had no interest in the medical industry right now. Life there was too boring.
She waved hand hand and rejected his kindness. "Thank you, Mr. Clarkson, but don't bother about it. I have my own plans."
Jasper nodded and asked, "Do you want me to take you home?"
Before she could say anything, she saw Wayne winking at Jasper and said ambiguously, "Oh... I was wondering why you refused to get married, Jas. So, it's because you have such a beautiful girl in mind."
God almighty. Emily wanted to laugh, but controlled herself. This man really had a wild imagination and was good at making connections.
Jasper smiled, but did not refute. He looked at Emily meaningfully and said, "Let's go. I'll take you home."
Since he didn't care, why should she explain anything? It was unnecessary. Emily looked calm, as if the embarrassment of this scene was not happening to her. It was a free ride, so why not? "Thank you then."
Wayne raised his hand and patted Jasper on the shoulder, smiling, "I'll go upstairs and wait for you."
Outside the Hotel & Restaurant, Jasper's car was parked at the door.
Emily opened the car door, climbed into the passenger seat without hesitation, and fastened her seat belt.
The car drove smoothly along the neon streets. In the small space with only two people, Jasper was silent.
"Tell me, uncle, you're going to be a finance director soon, how do you feel about that?" Emily asked. She was such a talkative person. Being quiet and reserved had never happened to her in her entire life.
"Are you making fun of me?" Jasper answered with a smile while driving attentively.
"How dare me? All the people in this city are counting on you from now on! When you become the mayor one day, don't forget us." Emily replied. Jasper Clarkson was no joke. He was young and promising, and he had plenty of opportunities ahead of him.
"Why are you flattering me so much, Emily?" Jasper asked with a smile.
"I'm just rooting for you, uncle." She raised her hand and made a classic thumb up towards Jasper.
Jasper laughed and stopped talking about this topic. He turned to look at her and said seriously, "Emily, will you be my girlfriend?"
Emily was a little surprised that Jasper asked such a question. However, it was normal for a tall, beautiful girl like her to be liked by men.
It seemed that he was not joking before at all.
She said with a playful smile, "Uncle, are you sure you are not pulling my legs?"
Generally speaking, the atmosphere of courtship like this was too serious. She was not quite used to it and could only use this way of conversation to ease the current tense atmosphere.
Jasper turned his head and looked at me, and said in a serious tone, "Of course I'm serious. I wouldn't joke about such things, would I?."
"Hehe...uncle, please stop teasing me, okay? My little heart can't take it!" Emily covered her left chest with one hand over her heart, pursed her lips, and looked at Jasper with a pitiful look.
"Haha...what's come over you today?" A hint of disappointment flashed across Jasper's face, but only for a moment.
"We're different, uncle. We are not from the same world. You're an incredible person and have a bright future of running the city ahead of you, and that's different from my own." Emily complimented him and said with a smile.
Anyone with a normal brain would know what was going on.
Jasper understood what she meant, laughed, and didn't continue the topic.
Actually, Jasper was a really good guy. He had been promoted to deputy section chief at a young age. His future prospects were very bright.
She wondered how many women dreamt of climbing into his bed.
But, having said that, both of them were really not the same kind of birds of a feather. Besides, she knew he would find the woman he loved in the future.
Half an hour later, the car slowly stopped.
While unbuckling her seatbelt, she politely said, "Thanks, Mr. Clarkson. I hope we can go out for dinner some other day."
Actually, she just said it casually, so she had to be polite.
"Okay, I'll call you when I have time." Jasper replied with a smile. "Bye."
The corners of Emily's mouth twitched in smiles a few times, but soon returned to her normal expression. Maybe Jasper didn't take it seriously, but just didn't want to offend her.
"Bye." She said to him, then pushed the door open, got out of the car and walked towards her house.
Jasper sat in the car, slowly rolled down the window, and looked at her back in contemplation. Finally, he sighed, started the engine, and drove away.
