Chapter 30 - 30 Setbacks in the Transfer Window

He slammed the paper onto the table, frustration boiling over. "Why the hell did no one tell me this before?!"

"I thought you already knew," Woodward replied calmly, unfazed by Tiger King's outburst.

Tiger King ran a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply. "You've got to be kidding me. This completely changes my transfer plans!"

"Mr. Tiger, there's no need to get worked up," Woodward said, his voice steady. "I suggest you reassess your targets now and focus on the player who best fits the team's needs within the budget we actually have."

Tiger King leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling for a moment before letting out a dry chuckle. "Well, isn't this a fun surprise? Alright, let's get back to work. We need a striker, and we need to be smart about it."

Tiger King slumped onto the sofa, closing his eyes in frustration. 14.2 million euros left. He exhaled sharply—barely enough to buy a decent substitute, let alone a top-class striker.

But complaints wouldn't change the situation. Griezmann? Out. Lukaku? Out. One by one, he crossed out names until his gaze settled on one final option—Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Without hesitation, he instructed Woodward to negotiate with Saint-Étienne. The French club set their price at 15 million euros. Woodward, ever the dealmaker, assured Tiger King that he could request a slight budget extension from the board to close the gap.

But just as things seemed to be falling into place, Aubameyang declined the offer. The reason? He wanted guaranteed playing time, something Dortmund was willing to offer. And just like that, Manchester United lost the race.

Hearing this, Tiger King sighed. Tiger King knew Aubameyang was on the verge of his prime. The pace, the finishing, the ability to change a game in an instant—he had all the makings of a world-class forward.

But despite his best efforts, he had to watch as Dortmund sealed the deal instead.

Aubameyang would soon explode onto the European stage, lighting up the Bundesliga with his blistering speed and clinical finishing. And all Tiger King could do was shake his head, knowing that he had let a future superstar slip through his fingers.

Over the next few days, Tiger King made bids for several top European forwards, hoping to secure a quality striker before the transfer window closed.

But every time, the asking price was sky-high—30 million euros or more. No club was willing to negotiate within his limited budget.

Frustrated, Tiger King could only sigh. The market had inflated beyond reason, and with just 14.2 million euros left, he was struggling to find a worthy addition to his squad.

Deciding to stop despairing about this, they decided to head to Brazil to get the excellent young goalkeeper before even he got snapped up.

However, the plans had to be cancelled because Woodward informed him of unrest in the dressing room. He had to rush back to Old Trafford where he had to put out some fires.
