Chapter 148 - The Magic of Edo Tensei

Boom!

As Kazuma finished speaking, the ground suddenly shook.

Five two-meter-tall wooden coffins emerged from the ground.

Kazuma slowly stood up, and looked at the five coffin doors that were tightly shut.

He said calmly, "Still sleeping in?"

Bang!

As soon as his words fell, the five coffin doors exploded as if they had received an order.

When the smoke and dust completely dissipated, five extremely familiar figures appeared in everyone's sight.

For a moment, everyone was completely dumbfounded.

"The four disaster curses?"

"Dead... the dead are alive???"

Yuji rubbed his eyes frantically, repeatedly confirming whether he was hallucinating.

"Jogo, Hanami, Dagon, Mahito... and that man who looks a lot like Megumi, are all alive!"

"I'm not dreaming, am I?"

Yuji grabbed Kazuma's shoulders and shook him hard.

He asked, "Kazuma, did you use a genjutsu on me?"

"Otherwise, how could something so terrifying happen in broad daylight?!"

Compared to Yuji's frantic shock, the others were also in turmoil.

Their minds were blank at this moment, leaving only unspeakable horror.

Several of these individuals were killed by Kazuma right before their eyes, burned to ashes by his strange black flames.

Logically speaking, they should be completely dead.

But now, they stood before them once again—fully intact.

However, their dark and cloudy eyes and the irregular cracks on their faces proved that something was undeniably off.

Seeing their reaction, Kazuma waved his hand and chuckled.

He said, "These guys are quite capable. After all, they were top-level threats. It would be a pity if they just died like that."

"So, I fished them out of the Shinigami's belly."

"After all, letting them off so easily after everything they did would be too kind. Now, they can atone for their sins in this Culling Game."

Long ago, Kazuma had asked Shoko to extract DNA samples from them.

Toji's leg bones, Jogo's skin, Mahito's hair, Hanami's blood, and Dagon's remains.

These were collected by Kazuma during the Shibuya Incident.

Unsurprisingly, Shōko was able to extract their DNA.

It was thanks to Shōko that these "guests" could appear once more.

Since Kenjaku had created this grand game, how could the four disaster curses and the sorcerer killer be left out?

But this time, their roles had changed—from enemies of the sorcerers to their allies.

After hearing this, even Tengen's composed expression wavered. He stared at Kazuma with a piercing gaze.

Who exactly was this guy?

How could he bring the dead back to life?

Even though Tengen had lived for countless years and had witnessed all sorts of strange cursed techniques, this...

This was something beyond comprehension.

It was one thing to summon spirits briefly, but to snatch someone from the grasp of death?

Did such a cursed technique really exist in the world of Jujutsu?

"The dead... truly returned to atone for their sins?"

Yuki lightly covered her lips, her eyes shining with disbelief, especially as she stared at Toji, the man who had once "killed" Gojo.

She had only casually remarked about bringing the dead back to pay for their actions... and Kazuma had actually done it?

Tsk! Kazuma was really full of surprises.

What could he not do?

Megumi clenched his fists, his eyes reddening as he glared at Toji, who kept his eyes shut the entire time.

"We meet again. Still playing the coward?"

"Open your eyes and face me!!"

Megumi's sudden outburst caught everyone's attention.

Was there some hidden connection between them?

Kazuma slapped his forehead.

Right. He had placed some restraints on them for safety reasons.

Even if there was no one in this world who could break free from Edo Tensei like Madara, it was always best to be cautious.

Bang!

With a snap of his fingers, the five reincarnated figures opened their eyes in confusion.

Jogo furrowed his brows, glancing at the vast white surroundings.

"Is this the legendary underworld? Could it be that hundreds of years have passed?"

Then, in an instant, his expression froze. As if he had seen an unspeakable horror, he abruptly stepped back.

Seeing his reaction, Hanami and the others instinctively retreated as well.

Jogo's gaze darted between the familiar sorcerers and Kazuma's ever-present smirk.

"...Ha." Kazuma yawned, as nonchalant as ever.

"Jogo, long time no see. You remember me, right? I was the one who gave you that kettle nickname~"

Kazuma's teasing tone only made Jogo more irritated.

Jogo asked, "What the hell is going on here?"

"Aren't we all supposed to be dead?"

"Atonement."

Hanami crossed his arms, throwing a wary glance at Kazuma.

He said, "He killed us. And now, through some unknown means, he's brought us back."

"He says we must atone for our sins in this Culling Game."

Jogo was outraged and said, "What?! We are natural disasters! What atonement?! If anyone should be atoning, it's the humans who destroyed the environment!"

"I refuse! I, Jogo, would rather die again than be humiliated like this! I will never bow to him! If he dares, he can kill me again!"

However, in the next second—

Thump!

Jogo's body suddenly went rigid.

His legs buckled beneath him, and he collapsed to his knees with a heavy thud.

...

For a moment, everyone stared at him with an odd mix of amusement and contempt.

Jogo struggled with all his might, but no matter how much he fought, his body refused to move.

"W-What the hell?! My body is completely out of control!"

"Kazuma! You devil! What did you do to me?!"

Kazuma smiled and said, "Nothing much. Just ensuring that you play your part."

"I expect you to participate in the Culling Game and hand over every single point you earn."

"You do understand the concept of 'working a job,' right?"

Kazuma's gaze was filled with amusement.

"A wonderful life awaits you…"

Before Jogo could spew another complaint, Kazuma's eyes flickered.

The four disaster curses instantly stiffened, standing at attention like puppets bound by invisible strings.

Kazuma's words carried an undeniable authority, as if they were absolute law.

"You have no choice. I brought you back, and I can just as easily control you."

"You're all intelligent cursed spirits. Surely, you don't want to experience the full Tsukuyomi package, right?"

With that, Kazuma grinned, his scarlet eyes glowing with a bewitching light.
