Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

"One billion dollars."

"Five billion dollars."

"Seven billion dollars."

"Ten billion dollars."

"Seventeen billion dollars."

Abigail was still murmuring to herself when the door pushed opened, and Abigail's secretary walked in.

"Miss Abigail…"

she began with a low and worried voice she said slowly, "the groom has not arrived yet, no wedding cars have passed by either."

Hearing what her secretary just said to her.

Abigail's hands, which were on her lap, clenched a little. Her face darkened a little, but she didn't let the concern become too evident. Then she breathed slowly and turned around to the mirror again, managing a small smile.

"Owen will come, don't worry, I think he's caught up in traffic." she replied softly, her voice even.

Then her secretary bow before Excusing herself again.

At that moment Abigail was just about to call Owen, to ask him the situation of things when her phone buzzed.

A text from Owen.

She opened the messages at once, curious to know what might have been restraining him.

Then she gazed at the photographs attached to the message.

Her breath was clogged in her throat.

It was Owen and he was with her step-sister.

Immediately her fingers trembled a bit then as she went through the photographs. They were getting worse by the minute. Intimate. Too close. Too familiar.

Her heart was pounding in shock. This is a mistake.

But then her eyes noticed something in the distance.

Her apartment. Owen was in her apartment.

That realization struck her like a blow.

She had trusted him. give him the keys to her apartment, now he was there sleeping with her step-sister.

At that instant a slow-burning rage spread through her chest.

She was not the kind of person who jumped to conclusions, but this? This she could not ignore.

Then her fists gripped her phone.

She had to see it for herself, confront him and demand an explanation of this stupidity,

Without losing another minute, Abigail ran out of her hotel room with her wedding clothes still on.

She did not wait for her driver—she drove the car herself.

The instant the engine hummed as she zoomed down the road, her mind racing much quicker.

She wanted to believe that there was some other reason than this. That it was a misunderstanding or perhaps a set up.

She could not believe what was happening, not on this day of all days.

She had to get married before she reaches twenty-five or else she would not be able to inherit her grandmother fortune. Today was the last day she was twenty-four.

Owing to Owen, he had an incident three years ago, and they couldn't marry all these years, now she hadn't quite understand the message that she had just received.

Not long after she arrived at her apartment, without wasting anymore time she marched right into her living home.

Entering inside she could feel Owen parents.

And something wasn't right.

Through the door was barley opened, she could hear sounds—muted whispers, muffled laughter, and something else coming from the bedroom.

Something that caused her stomach to contort.

At that moment her fists clenched automatically. She walked in. Step for step.

When she reached the bedroom, the door was not even shut.

And then—she saw him.

Owen.

With her step-sister, Megan. The sight was enough to obliterate any lingering uncertainty within her.

He was cheating. In her house.

with her step-sister.

For a whole second, she couldn't moved, nor breathe.

Then, the shock turned into something else.

She couldn't believe that all she ever held true, and was struggling against to keep was falling apart before her very own eyes.

Her grandma stated in her will, that in case she does not marry before the age of twenty-five. The companies would be left to charities homes and one of them would be given to her step family.
