Chapter 102: The Golden Support
"What's wrong, Mirajane?"
Lucy and George turned around.
Mirajane grabbed Lucy with one hand and George with the other:
"I hope you two can follow Erza and the others tomorrow."
"What, me?"
Lucy's face was full of disbelief; her strength wouldn't be of much help.
George, however, had already guessed the reason for being asked.
Sure enough, Mirajane patiently explained:
"Lucy, Natsu and Gray will definitely be arguing behind Erza's back, and I need you to help stop them.
George, your task is even more important. Whether the guild master can walk out alive after the next council meeting depends on you!"
"Mirajane... that's too exaggerated, but... I'll do my best."
George's mouth twitched, but under Mirajane's gentle and expectant gaze, he agreed.
Clearly, Mirajane was worried that Erza, Natsu, and Gray would team up and potentially cause massive destruction, and she wanted him to help with his repair magic to mitigate the damage.
Having received a lot of care from the guild master and the other Fairy Tail mages recently, he really couldn't refuse.
Moreover, he was curious about the trouble Erza was facing. If even an S-class mage considered it troublesome, could it be related to the Dragon Slayer Crystal?
If it were before he created the super wand, he might not have agreed.
If an S-class mage found something troublesome, it would undoubtedly come with significant danger. With his previous strength, he could have been injured or even killed.
But with the super wand, his power had greatly increased, and the strength of many of his spells had nearly multiplied tenfold. He felt that even if he encountered danger, he could at least escape if he couldn't win.
Seeing George agree, Lucy couldn't refuse either and nodded with a mix of worry and excitement.
Worry, of course, was about the dangers they might face, and excitement was because this was the adventure she had been looking forward to when she left her privileged life to join Fairy Tail!
The next day, at Magnolia City's train station.
George, carrying a small backpack, arrived early at the station and took out a magic book to read.
Though it was a small backpack, on George's cat-like body, it was about the size of a pocket.
But don't underestimate this pocket-sized backpack. After being expanded by the super wand's Extension Charm, the space inside was comparable to a small 40-square-meter room.
With such a large storage space, he could bring plenty of magic books to read on the journey. Except during battle times, he could continue researching and learning magic.
Having already started on Giant Magic and Light Magic, he began studying other types of magic that were simpler but helpful for his current battles.
"George!"
About five minutes later, a familiar voice interrupted his reading—it was Lucy, who had also arrived early.
Today, Lucy was wearing a yellow tank top paired with a blue miniskirt, which especially highlighted her figure. The swaying motion as she ran made George couldn't help but take a few extra glances.
If nothing else, in terms of "size," Lucy was definitely among the top female mages he had seen in Fairy Tail.
Shortly after Lucy arrived, Natsu, Happy, and Gray also showed up, but Natsu and Gray started arguing as soon as they met.
"Sorry to keep everyone waiting!"
Just as the train was about to depart, Erza finally appeared, dragging a large cart filled with luggage.
"Why so much luggage!"
Lucy was petrified at the sight of dozens of fully packed suitcases on the cart. Who would bring so much luggage for a mission?
Happy whispered:
"Erza has OCD; she has to bring all her clothes every time she goes on a mission."
"It seems she has a lot of magical weapons and armor."
What George cared about wasn't Erza's luggage but her magical weapons and armor.
After learning about the characteristics of Requip Magic in the library, he knew that the space for Requip wasn't limited to just magical weapons; other everyday items could also be stored there.
However, most Requip mages had limited space, enough for only one or two magical weapons, and couldn't fit anything else.
But for an S-class mage like Erza, the space must be considerable.
Yet Erza didn't store her luggage in that space, which could only mean her space was already filled with plenty of magical weapons and armor.
Indeed, the rewards for S-class mage missions were quite high; she probably wasn't short on money.
"Erza, if you don't mind, you can store your luggage in my magical item."
After thinking for a moment, he put down his backpack and stepped forward to suggest.
He had three goals for this mission.
First, to repay the resources and help he had received from the guild recently.
Second, to see if he could gather any information about the Dragon Slayer Crystal.
Third, to build good relationships with the guild's strongest mages, as they might be useful in the future.
For example, if he found information about the Dragon Slayer Crystal but the enemies were too strong, he could enlist the help of these guild mages who owed him favors, rather than fighting alone.
"George, you actually have a rare spatial magical item? That would be a great help!"
Seeing George stuff a large magic book into his small backpack, Erza's eyes lit up, guessing that George's small backpack was a rare spatial magical item, and she nodded happily.
Placing the small backpack on the ground and opening it, George used magnetism to make a wand with an iron ring fly out into his hand.
"Locomotor!"
With the Levitation Charm activated, as the wand waved, the suitcases automatically lined up and entered the small backpack on the ground.
"Wow!"
Watching this scene, Erza and the others showed expressions of amazement.
George's magic might not be powerful, but it looked like an art form, very unique.
Whether it was repairing items, cleaning, or making suitcases line up and enter a backpack like today.
"I'm not very good at fighting, but I know some support magic, and I hope I can help you."
Putting the backpack back on, George said modestly.
Unless necessary, he didn't plan to engage in combat himself, as the enemies this time were not the low-level mages he had encountered before, and there was some danger.
He could use his support magic to assist, being a golden support wasn't bad.
"You don't need to fight; leave all the enemies to me, Natsu, Gray, and Lucy!"
Erza patted her chest, making her armor clang.
Lucy's face showed a hint of bitterness; she really wanted to tell Erza that she wasn't that strong either and couldn't defeat a Vulcan gorilla with one finger.
