Chapter 107: Celestial Spirit Magic
As a mage, George didn't need to engage in close combat, but having good defenses was still essential.
No matter which world he was in, having a set of high-defense armor that could be summoned at any time would be incredibly helpful.
He also thought about the differences between creating his own space and using the Extension Charm. Both had their pros and cons.
The Extension Charm could create a vast space, even as large as a city. It could store not only items but also animals and people.
However, the medium used to expand the space had to be carried at all times. If it was lost, the space would be lost too.
If the space became too large in the future, accessing items might not be as convenient as it was now.
Even if he used the Summoning Charm, it would take time for items to fly to the entrance if the space was too large.
Another point was that the Extension Charm could expand space, but it required an existing space to work. You couldn't create a storage ring out of a solid ring, for example.
Otherwise, Newt Scamander wouldn't have needed to carry his suitcase around. He could have just used rings or bracelets, avoiding customs inspections.
Even if you carved a hole in a ring, it wouldn't be practical.
The Extension Charm expanded existing space. The larger the space, the easier it was to expand. The smaller the space, the harder it was to expand, and a small entrance would make access inconvenient.
On the other hand, the Knight Magic used by Erza had its own drawbacks. The size of the space depended entirely on the user's magical power.
Even an S-class mage like Erza didn't have enough space, and ordinary mages could only store one or two weapons at most.
It also couldn't store living beings, only inanimate objects.
But the advantage was clear: the space couldn't be taken by others, and items could be summoned instantly. In the Harry Potter world, this would avoid legal issues with the Ministry of Magic.
After all, in the Harry Potter world, the unauthorized use of the Extension Charm was prohibited.
"It seems I should find time to learn this magic from Erza. I just hope she's willing to teach me."
Ordinary Requip Magic could be self-taught using books from the library, but Erza's Knight Magic wasn't documented there.
"So cute!"
Lucy's eyes sparkled with admiration when she saw Erza's new outfit with small wings on her head.
Erza had always given her the impression of a strong, charismatic, and bold leader. Seeing her in such an adorable outfit was a delightful contrast.
"It's Erza's Armor of the Wind God and Sword of the Wind God. Erigor is in trouble now!"
Happy crossed his arms, looking smug.
"What's the Armor of the Wind God and the Sword of the Wind God?"
Lucy asked, voicing George's own curiosity.
Although Happy wasn't particularly strong, he had grown up in the guild and was familiar with every mage's magic.
"The Armor of the Wind God is a set of armor Erza prepared specifically to counter wind-based mages. Wind magic's power is reduced by at least half when it hits her. The Sword of the Wind God is also an incredibly powerful wind-based magic sword!"
"Break!"
After transforming, Erza swung her sword at the incoming tornado. A burst of wind magic erupted from the sword, splitting the small tornado in half.
After dispersing the tornado, Erza didn't stop. She flashed forward, closing the distance to Erigor and launching a fierce close-quarters assault.
Erigor hastily blocked with his scythe, but his close-combat skills were no match for Erza's. He was forced from the air to the ground.
Every time he tried to take to the air to gain an advantage, Erza ruthlessly knocked him back down.
"Everyone's working so hard. I can't fall behind!"
Seeing Erza dominating Erigor, Natsu and Gray holding off most of the Black Steel Forest mages, and George reclaiming the Cursed Flute, Lucy felt a surge of confidence.
She pulled out a golden key and chanted:
"Open, Gate of the Crab! Cancer!"
A blue magic circle appeared, and a stylish man with crab claws on his back and a pair of scissors in his hands emerged from the circle.
"Celestial Spirit Magic, pass!"
While George was curious about Lucy's Celestial Spirit Magic, he had no immediate desire to learn it. At least for now, he didn't think it was worth spending time on.
Celestial Spirit Magic wasn't weak. Summoning powerful spirits could even lead to easy victories.
But George had a principle when it came to learning magic: prioritize spells that could be useful across different worlds.
Magic like Celestial Spirit Magic, which relied on summoning spirits from another world, was only effective in this world. It wouldn't work in Marvel or Harry Potter, where there were no Celestial Spirit Keys or a Celestial Spirit World.
That didn't mean the magic was without merit.
On the contrary, Celestial Spirit Magic had significant potential for study. The concept of summoning beings from another world through a master-servant contract could be incredibly useful if fully understood.
But for now, with his current level of magic, it was more practical to focus on learning defensive spells. He could always delve into this kind of magic once he became a true master.
"Cancer, take them down!"
Seeing a few Black Steel Forest mages bypass Natsu and Gray, aiming to reclaim the Cursed Flute, Lucy gave the order to her summoned Celestial Spirit.
"Shrimp!"
Cancer shouted his catchphrase and charged at the Black Steel Forest mages.
His speed was impressive. In just a few exchanges, he used his sharp scissors to cut through their magical weapons and even gave them a kappa-style haircut.
"All of you are useless!"
Seeing his subordinates defeated one after another and his strongest defensive spell, the Storm Cloak, shattered by Erza's Sword of the Wind God, Erigor knew he had to go all out. Otherwise, today's plan would fail.
However, he didn't notice that George had quietly maneuvered behind him after seeing his Storm Cloak destroyed.
"Storm Breaker!"
Erigor unleashed a barrage of wind blades, temporarily forcing Erza back. He quickly ascended, crossing his arms as six purple magic circles appeared around him.
"Die! This is my strongest attack—Emerald Hurricane!"
Half of his magic power was drained instantly. Six tornadoes emerged from the magic circles, merging into a massive wind drill that shot toward Erza.
This attack could drill a hole through a hundred-meter-tall hill.
"Armor of the Diamond!"
Experienced as she was, Erza remained calm. She activated her Knight Magic once more.
Her Armor of the Wind God was replaced by an extremely heavy blue-and-white diamond armor. The Sword of the Wind God in her hands transformed into two massive shields.
