Chapter 183: An Unexpected Summoning
"Laufey, welcome to Asgard!"
Loki pulled out Gungnir, stepped over the frozen Heimdall, and led Laufey with several Frost Giants straight toward Odin's resting palace in Asgard.
After diverting the Asgardian guards protecting Odin and watching Laufey enter to strike down the Queen, Loki gritted his teeth and held back. Only when Laufey mounted Odin, ready to deliver the killing blow, did Loki suddenly rush in and strike.
Gungnir erupted with immense energy, blasting Laufey away. Without giving him a chance to speak, Loki ended the life of his biological father with a second thrust.
"Laufey! You dare ambush the Allfather? I, Loki, son of Odin, will not allow it!"
"Loki, you saved your father!"
Queen Frigga rose and embraced Loki, who then pushed her away angrily:
"How dare they commit such an act! I swear, Mother, they will pay!"
"I think... we should first bring back your brother Thor. The two of you must discuss waging war against Jotunheim—this is no trivial matter."
The Queen spoke hesitantly.
"Thor was exiled by Father—how can I defy the Allfather's decree? Rest assured, Mother. Leave everything to me!"
Dragging Laufey's corpse outside, Loki shouted:
"Gather all of Asgard's people in the palace square at once! I have an announcement!"
---
Thirty minutes later, Asgard's Square
Holding Laufey's body aloft, Loki addressed 50,000 Asgardian citizens and warriors:
"Last time, the Frost Giants infiltrated our vault, attempting to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters. Now, they dare assassinate our great Allfather!"
"If we do not retaliate, they will invade us outright next time—"
With Loki's silver tongue, fury spread across the faces of Asgard's people—they were convinced.
"For Asgard's honor, as acting king, I declare war on Jotunheim!"
"For Asgard's honor!"
"For Asgard's honor!"
The soldiers and citizens roared in unison.
Seeing the moment ripe, Loki raised his hand for silence:
"War brings casualties. As king, I refuse to trade Asgardian lives for Frost Giant scum!"
"Thus, I will unleash the Bifröst's full power—to annihilate Jotunheim in one strike, ending this threat forever!"
"End it forever!"
Most Asgardians cheered—none wanted husbands, sons, or fathers to die in battle.
Yet a minority recoiled at the brutality. Destroying a planet meant genocide, not just defeating Jotunheim.
---
"This is wrong! We must fetch Thor from Midgard before Loki's madness prevails!"
The Warriors Three and Sif slipped away, sprinting toward the Bifröst.
"Heimdall—what happened?!"
At the Bifröst's control hub, they found the gatekeeper frozen solid.
"HAH!"
With a surge of divine energy, Heimdall shattered his icy prison—but he was at his limit.
"Loki... he let the Frost Giants in. This is all his scheme."
Heimdall revealed everything.
The Warriors Three and Sif seethed:
"That damned trickster! Heimdall, send us to Midgard for Thor!"
"No time—they're coming!"
Heimdall spotted Loki leading Asgard's masses toward them.
Plunging his sword into the Bifröst's controls, he mustered his last strength to activate it.
"I'll summon Thor directly—and his new allies. They may tip the scales!"
The Bifröst ignited. A multicolored beam tore through space, landing squarely on Jane Foster's rented house in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico.
Inside, George, Tony, Steve, Logan, Banner, Betty, Thor, Jane, Erik, and Darcy—mid-discussion—were yanked into the light, bewildered.
"What the hell?!"
George gaped as the Warriors Three and Sif rushed to embrace Thor. The dazzling Bifröst and Asgard's golden spires stretched before them.
This... wasn't part of the plan.
"Butterfly effect—unpredictable as ever."
George realized his actions had drastically altered the original timeline.
"Adapt and overcome."
Recovering, he rallied the stunned group to debrief the Asgardians.
After learning the full situation, George's eye twitched.
Originally, they only faced the Destroyer and Loki. Now? Asgard's entire army.
But Thor's legendary reputation among Asgard's troops might sway many.
And if they could hold out until Odin awoke...
No—Odin wouldn't stir until tomorrow morning. Twelve hours was too long.
"Thank god I brought Banner. And Steve can wield Mjolnir."
George felt a sliver of relief. Alone, he'd have had to Apparate to the nearest mountain and hide.
---
"Loki... it was him all along."
Thor's face darkened with rage—then guilt as he turned to the Earthlings.
"Forgive me. This is Asgard's burden. I'll have Heimdall return you at once."
"This transcends Asgard. If Loki claims the throne, Earth will face Asgard's armies next."
George declared solemnly:
"Just as Asgard once shielded Earth from Frost Giants, today we repay that debt—to restore Asgard's rightful order!"
"Asgard will never forget this aid."
Heimdall, supported by the Warriors Three, weakly raised his sword to the Bifröst controls.
"If the battle turns hopeless, retreat here. I'll send you back to Midgard."
