Chapter 61 - Chapter 60 :Hidden guard

"Stray cats and dogs..."

Bai Feng muttered this phrase, and the proud first of the Heavenly Hero Camp, now found himself being called by such a title in front of Brother Fang.

However, there was no fault in it. Brother Fang could kick a wild dog with one swift blow, and the same went for Mo Wuhen—both would be defeated with a single strike. So, a wild dog equals Mo Wuhen, directly applying the formula.

If it were an ordinary person, they probably wouldn't be able to see Fang Yuan's strength. Only those of them who called themselves geniuses knew just how terrifying Fang Yuan truly was!

It was exactly as the saying goes:

"If you don't practice cultivation, you see me as a frog in a well, looking up at the moon; but if you do practice, seeing me is like a mayfly encountering the vast sky!"

"I say, Brother Fang, is this really okay?" Bai Feng couldn't help but ask, "Mo Wuhen is considered one of our companions, right?"

"Have you ever seen companions ordering each other around like that?" Lin Jing sneered and sighed in an exaggerated manner, "The youth these days really need to beware of arrogance and impatience."

Having some martial talent but lacking the harsh lessons of society would lead to someone like Mo Wuhen, she thought.

Fang Yuan opened his mouth, but seeing that Lin Jing had already said what he wanted to, he didn't bother with the details. With a movement of his feet, his figure swiftly reappeared beside Lin Jing.

"Let's continue, Director Lin."

"No problem." Lin Jing nodded, and with that, Ling Qing soared again, carrying Fang Yuan and the others through the forest and onward.

Not long after they left, a silver figure suddenly flew out of the nearby forest, and in a few flickers, arrived next to Mo Wuhen.

Seeing Mo Wuhen in such a miserable state, the silver figure couldn't help but sigh, "This kid really knows how to strike hard and fast."

"No wonder Brother Yin specially asked me to come see him. Otherwise, if it were another member of the Chongwu Guard, they wouldn't be able to follow him!"

The silver figure pulled Mo Wuhen from the ground and gave him a few slaps, attempting to wake him up.

However, Mo Wuhen remained sound asleep, unresponsive.

"Why are you pretending? You're so good at pretending; go do it in front of a demon! Why are you pretending in front of your own people?"

The silver figure shook his head, feeding Mo Wuhen a pill.

"Wake up, damn it. The Jiang Hai Palace sent you to kill demons, and here you are, sleeping like a pig!"

The pill worked, and Mo Wuhen began to stir slightly.

Seeing this, the silver figure nodded and then vanished from sight.

At this moment, Fang Yuan and his companions had completely flown out of Songyun County and were now in the buffer zone between Songyun County and the Henglin Mountains. The terrain here was complicated, and traces of human excavation were nearly invisible.

Fang Yuan spoke:

"I have a martial arts talent that allows me to see through any demon's trace. So in the sky, I can quickly find them."

"I see..." Lin Jing nodded calmly. "No wonder you were able to find the demons in the forest so easily."

Bai Feng, on the other hand, exclaimed, "Wow, Brother Fang, your awakened martial talent, your detection ability is off the charts!"

Lin Jing glanced at him. The new guy was still in shock at Fang Yuan's terrifying strength, but someone like her, an experienced player, was already completely numb to it.

Fang Yuan continued, "I'll let you two handle the demons I find later."

After Mo Wuhen's interruption, Fang Yuan realized that he hadn't done something properly.

He had asked Lin Jing to join him in the mission purely because he had his eye on her bird demon. He was just thinking of using her as a free driver, as it would be much easier to kill demons this way.

The result was that Fang Yuan was the only one killing demons the entire time, while Lin Jing earned no points at all. She was just a tool, and that wasn't really fair to her.

He couldn't keep taking advantage of her like that.

How was this any different from the people he wanted to defeat?

As friends, he should have been helping everyone grow together.

"Okay." Lin Jing lightly nodded, understanding Fang Yuan's thoughts. She couldn't help but sigh inwardly. The biggest nightmare in this world must be becoming Fang Yuan's enemy.

The greatest fortune, on the other hand, must be becoming his friend. At least that was how she felt.

Her first twenty years had been extremely dark and full of uncertainty, but since meeting Fang Yuan, life had felt brighter.

"By the way, Fang Yuan!" Lin Jing suddenly remembered something, putting away her thoughts. "Our mission is to kill demons, but Jiang Hai Palace never mentioned how to record our achievements."

"Right..." Bai Feng also reacted to this reminder.

Simply killing demons didn't let anyone know how many they had killed!

Fang Yuan wasn't surprised at all. He said, "Someone is keeping track in secret."

"Secretly?"

"Yes... there are people from the Chongwu Guard watching us. They're recording our achievements and also protecting us."

Ever since arriving at Songyun County, Fang Yuan had used his [Eye of the Catastrophe] ability to detect the hidden Chongwu Guards.

"Now I understand." Lin Jing finally realized.

The Chongwu Guard was the personal guard of the Chongwu Marquis, and the weakest among them were all at the peak of the third realm!

With their protection, this seemingly dangerous demon-slaying journey was actually well within control.

While thinking this, Fang Yuan squinted his eyes because he noticed another name had appeared below them.

"There's someone," Fang Yuan said.

Lin Jing and Bai Feng looked down and saw a man dressed in ragged clothes. He was squatting by a stream, drinking water, looking around nervously.

"Someone in a place like this?" Bai Feng exclaimed in surprise.

"Let's go take a look!" Fang Yuan ordered.

"Okay!"

The bird demon swiftly descended.

The man, startled by the sudden appearance of the bird demon, turned and fled. But it was clear that he had no martial skills, and soon, he was surrounded by Fang Yuan and the others.

"Don't panic," Fang Yuan said first. "Take a good look. We're humans."

The man rubbed his eyes, his tense nerves finally relaxing, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

"Thank goodness, I finally found some living people!" He wiped away tears.

"Uncle, how did you end up here?" Bai Feng asked.

Lin Jing handed him a large pancake from her supplies.

The man took the pancake and began eating it, saying as he did:

"My name is Yu Fengnian, and I'm from a village nearby…"

"Just two days ago, a lot of demons suddenly appeared in the mountains. They attacked the village, and my whole family was captured by a group of rat demons."

"I did my best to escape from their lair."

At this point, Yu Fengnian suddenly became agitated. He grabbed Bai Feng's hand, shouting:

"By the way, since you three are so strong, could you save my wife and daughter?"

"If you don't, they'll be eaten by the demons!"

"Of course!" Bai Feng immediately nodded. "That's exactly why we're here!"

"Is the demon lair far from here?" Fang Yuan asked.

"Not far, just a few hundred steps. The rat demons are living in a big underground cave, and my family is tied up there!"

"Besides them, there are more than ten others, kept there as food for the rats!"

Hearing this, Bai Feng clenched his fist, his face filled with anger.

Fang Yuan nodded decisively, "Lead the way!"

"Thank you, thank you, you three experts!" Yu Fengnian thanked them profusely. He didn't even care about the pancake in his hand and quickly led Fang Yuan and his companions onward.
