Chapter 89 - Nature's Defiance

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

This was humanity's weapon...

I returned to my ecosystem near Perth to find the white fog had already engulfed the entire coastline.

The mist represented something primal and terrifying—death itself—drifting along the coast like the most merciless reaper. Through my enhanced vision, I could see they had already perished. My creations, reborn just yesterday, had today returned to silent oblivion.

From the mountainous forests behind me came the sounds of terror:

Squeak, squeak

Crackle, crackle, crunch

"Ah, ah..."

Gurgle

"Roar, roar, roar, roar..."

The creatures that had sensed the danger of the approaching fog had evacuated inland, but they still trembled in fear of the advancing mist. They could sense death within it—feel its horror. Their panicked cries filled the air.

"Ah, ah, ah, ah..."

I released a thunderous roar that momentarily calmed the multitude of frightened spirits behind me. But I could still hear the death cries of those followers caught in the fog—their pain, sorrow, and desperate unwillingness to die. All of it reached my senses.

It was precisely because I could hear their suffering that I now stood here, facing this mist that pushed everything toward death.

This fog was more dangerous than any human weapon I had encountered. As I arrived at the coastline, I analyzed the distant white wall and sensed its lethal potential. I became certain this mist shrouding the sea posed a greater threat than human nuclear weapons!

A premonition washed over me—even in my current state, entering this sea of white fog would eventually lead to my demise. This mist was what nature itself had once feared—an existence capable of truly annihilating all microorganisms!

Humans...

They had finally taken such drastic action. My next attack could no longer be limited to destroying specific regions. Otherwise, what was happening now would occur again and again!

But that was a problem for after resolving the immediate threat. The mist continued swirling, advancing further inland. At its current speed, it would cross the charred coastal areas within hours, reaching the true mountainous forests and forcing all life there toward extinction.

What to do now?

Fuuuuuuuuuuuu

First, I summoned the wind—a gale strong enough to blow the mist back toward the sea.

Manipulating nature—this was the ability I gained after becoming Godzilla Earth.

To deal with the white mist before me, I exerted all my strength, using furious winds to push back the fog!

The white mist slowly retreated under the onslaught of these winds, but I felt no satisfaction. Instead, my inner tension increased.

Because the furious wind was limited.

After pushing the mist back by a kilometer or two, the winds began to weaken, eventually fading away. The mist regained the upper hand, leisurely flowing back as if the fierce wind had never attempted to stop it.

Wind was ineffective.

I couldn't yet create a superstorm like the fully formed Earth could. With an ecological zone covering only a few thousand square kilometers, I could only unleash nature's power to generate brief strong winds.

The storm during my ascension wasn't my doing alone—it was more like a resonance with the planet beneath my feet. But now, I couldn't summon that resonance.

Since I couldn't overcome using nature's power, I had to rely on myself!

I stepped out from the forest and headed toward the coast to confront the mist.

And my method to stop it was pure force—creating shockwaves powerful enough to push it back!

Boom, boom! Boom!! Boom!!! Boom!!!!

After leaving the forest, I began running at full speed for the first time since obtaining such colossal size and weight—a run carrying tens of millions of tons, surpassing the speed of sound!

The terrifying shockwaves spread in all directions. Even kilometers away from the forest, some mutated trees still shivered under the impact, seemingly on the verge of being uprooted by the tremendous force!

Fortunately, they had undergone mutations, and fortunately, I was far enough away.

Otherwise, my running alone would have been enough to destroy the entire forest.

Moving at supersonic speed, I charged toward the white mist! Shockwaves beyond the speed of sound swept around me, pushing back the surrounding fog!

With me at the center, the white mist within a radius of about ten kilometers was forcefully pushed back several kilometers.

This caused the retreated mist to withdraw again, returning to its position from several hours earlier, still hovering over the sea surface.

After reaching the coastline, I urgently changed direction. I ran along the border of the mist, using my extraordinary impact force to drive away the surrounding fog.

Half an hour. More than three hundred kilometers.

I ran the entire coastline, expelling all the mist within my ecological zone back into the sea. After completing this, I stood on the charred remains of a human city, observing the distant mist.

It grew denser.

It was still surging toward the land. The repulsion from my impact was only temporary.

Hiss—Boom!!!!

What awaited the fog next was my atomic breath.

The beam exploded at the coastline, raising massive fireballs. The shockwaves once again forced the mist to retreat, pushing it back into the sea.

But it wasn't enough. Right after the impact swept through, the retreating mist, freed from the suppression, surged back—advancing faster and more fiercely than before.

When it reached its original position, the mist resumed its previous steady pace, suffocating all living things in its path.

My breath was useless. Impact was useless. Manipulating nature was useless.

Facing the white mist, I seemed to have only one option—to carry as many of my followers as possible and retreat inland.

Abandon the mountains and forests that couldn't move; save only the creatures that could flee deeper into the continent.

This would allow us to evade destruction.

After all, the mist wasn't infinite. It could only cover around thirty to forty kilometers near the coast—impossible to blanket the entire Australian interior.

Should I escape? Should I cut my losses?

No! That is impossible!

I am the consciousness of nature itself!

How could nature run away?

Standing amidst the ruins of human civilization, I unleashed my breath—not forward, but downward into the ground beneath me.

This was my solution!

───「 Human POV 」───

From the command center, General Zhang and his team watched the satellite feed with growing astonishment.

"What is it doing?" asked Colonel Hayes, leaning closer to the monitor.

The thermal signature of Godzilla's atomic breath was unmistakable—but instead of firing horizontally at the advancing Oxygen Destroyer mist, the creature was directing its energy straight down into the earth.

Dr. Nakamura shook her head in disbelief. "This doesn't make sense. The breath isn't having any effect on the chemical composition of the Oxygen Destroyer. Why would it—"

She stopped mid-sentence as the ground around Godzilla began to glow red-hot.

"It's not trying to neutralize the weapon," Major Wilson said quietly. "It's changing the battlefield."

General Zhang's eyes narrowed. "Explain."

"If you can't defeat the enemy," Major Wilson replied, "change the terrain. It's one of the oldest military strategies in existence."

The satellite feed showed the earth beneath Godzilla beginning to fracture, magma welling up through newly formed fissures.

"My God," Dr. Nakamura whispered. "It's creating a volcanic eruption."
