Chapter 2 - ch.2: coursed energy

A girl, seemingly Genso's age, witnessed the brutal fighting and killings ravaging her clan's land. Her eyes fell upon a boy, around her own age, who moved with impossible speed, cutting down the invading ninja in the blink of an eye. Having never experienced war before, she could only hide with the other children and women, fear gripping her heart.

Meanwhile, Genso moved swiftly through the inner pathways of the 'official residences of the Imperial Takage House'.

Bang. A wooden table crashed through the wall of an adjacent room. Genso easily twisted his body upwards, landing silently on the splintered remains. He saw a group of ordinary civilians huddled together, protected by a young ninja, no older than five or six, desperately trying to shield them.

Without hesitation, Genso conjured Stars Shuriken and teleported between them and the danger. With a simple touch, he marked each of the civilians and the young protector before teleporting them to the safety of the island.

The little ninja, Dekisugi Takagi, possessed the ability to sense chakra. In the chaos, he instinctively hurled the nearest objects to create a diversion, hoping to buy time. He had been ready to fight, but then he saw his own clan's insignia on the boy who had moved with such terrifying efficiency. A wave of relief washed over him. In wartime, a strong ninja could be the turning point. He had already witnessed too many of his comrades fall. Then, in the blink of an eye, the boy was before them, touching them all. Dekisugi felt a strange seal being placed on him, but before he could speak or react, the world dissolved into a field of green, surrounded by other Takage survivors. I only wish... he thought, his hands clasped in a silent prayer, ...that he can be safe.

Genso continued his search through the ravaged residences. He had already saved twelve survivors, and within the next seven seconds, he rescued another forty-three. But the sheer scale of the destruction was overwhelming. Only 3.56 minutes had passed since the clan war had erupted.

Ding.... Ding.... Ding ding ding ding...

Suddenly, a fierce clash of swords erupted in the hallway. The brief, violent collisions of steel against steel threw off sparks of red and orange light in the dimness. In less than a second, an enemy ninja materialized directly in front of him. It seemed as if no fight had even occurred there moments before. Then, in a mere fraction of a second – 0.001 seconds – over a thousand ninjas poured out, ranging from genin to low-level jonin.

"Increase chakra energy by 5000 points and give me 25 recovery pills."

Ding... 10,000 points deducted.

Ding... 1250 points deducted.

Ding... 14,546 points left.

"Open mall."

Time seemed to pause as Genso scanned the numerous items available.

"Deduct 5 explosive kunai and 25 explosive Stars Shuriken."

Ding... 1 explosive kunai = 150 points.

Ding... 1 explosive Stars Shuriken = 100 points.

Ding... 11,296 points left.

Time resumed...

Genso saw the overwhelming force of over a thousand shinobi launching high-level ninjutsu at him simultaneously. A massive explosion engulfed the area where he had been standing. Genso teleported back just as a series of deafening booms ripped through the air – the result of the enemy shinobi's combined ninjutsu and kunai detonating their attached explosive tags.

The leader of the opposing force, witnessing his teleportation, knew this would not be an easy fight. In a mere 0.02 seconds, another explosion rocked the corridor. Genso swiftly moved beside a genin ninja and killed him with an explosive kunai. He hadn't realized the kunai would detonate upon contact. The blast tore apart the genin's hand, and Genso understood their devastating potential.

Instantly, Genso marked several enemy shinobi and hurled the remaining explosive kunai and Stars Shuriken at them. Boom boom boom boom. Explosion after explosion ripped through the tightly packed ranks. However, a mid-level jonin named Ino reacted quickly, creating a defensive ninjutsu to shield many of his comrades. Genso then threw regular Stars Shuriken at another ninja, intending to use the distraction to launch a swift attack. But Ino had anticipated this, already weaving hand seals for an offensive ninjutsu, waiting for the opportune moment. When Genso appeared behind the targeted ninja, Ino moved with surprising speed, dodging Genso's sword slash. He spun around, aiming a counter-attack.

Genso, who had believed he had an opening for a kill, was caught off guard by Ino's swiftness. He teleported back once more, narrowly avoiding the blow and simultaneously killing a few more unsuspecting ninjas. But the sheer number of enemies was daunting, and Genso knew it was becoming increasingly difficult to survive. Just then, however, reinforcements from his own clan arrived, launching a fierce assault on the enemy shinobi, creating a much-needed diversion. Taking advantage of the chaos, Genso unleashed his thunder sword breathing technique: "Rice Spirit."

With blinding speed, he executed five rapid, arcing slashes, each accompanied by a crackling bolt of lightning. In that single attack, he cut down sixteen enemy ninjas who were below jonin level.

Genso spotted a ninja who was capable of using a mid-level teleportation ninjutsu. Reacting instantly, Genso threw a Stars Shuriken towards him, using the Flying Thunder God Technique to teleport to its location. He also employed the Body Flicker Technique for added speed and defense.

Genso reappeared amidst his own clan members. They saw him and exchanged a quick nod. Their current priority was to break through the enemy lines; otherwise, they would all be overwhelmed. Genso quickly placed Flying Thunder God seals on several of his comrades before teleporting into a hidden room.

"Status."

Genso quickly consumed several chakra recovery pills. He swiftly teleported five of his clan members at once, his chakra reserves plummeting. After a brief pause to recover slightly, he teleported another group. There were now only forty-two clan members remaining in the immediate vicinity. They were holding their own for the moment, facing two elite jonin, five mid to low-level jonin, and the rest being high-level chunin.

In the heat of battle, verbal communication was often a death sentence. The remaining Takage ninjas communicated through quick hand signals and subtle movements.

Genso teleported to a concealed position, preparing to rejoin the fight. The enemy elite jonin launched various 'C' rank level ninjutsu attacks. Despite the barrage, Genso managed to evade most of them, leaving his opponents with only minor scratches, temporary blindness from a flash of light, and momentary disorientation. In that brief window of opportunity, Genso teleported back into the fray. He moved with the enhanced speed and reaction time granted by his connection to lightning chakra. It was akin to a Lightning Release Body Flicker, though not exactly the same.

Genso combined his Flying Thunder God Technique with his thunder sword breathing techniques, often utilizing two to three consecutive teleportations – 'folds' – between each strike. These folds allowed him to cover vast distances almost instantaneously, conserving precious chakra compared to teleporting to distinct locations each time. He channeled his chakra into his remaining weapons, making them even more lethal and harder to track.

Genso became a whirlwind of death. With each teleportation, the only thing his enemies saw was a flash of lightning followed by the lifeless body of another shinobi. Fear spread through the ranks of the attacking ninja, their morale crumbling with each fallen comrade. In contrast, a surge of hope and determination filled the hearts of his fellow Takage ninja.

But amidst the chaos, one of the two elite jonin enemy shinobi unleashed a powerful slashing ninjutsu. Simultaneously, the other elite jonin was teleported away by a high-level space-time ninjutsu master, capable of instantly relocating individuals within a radius of approximately forty-five meters without the need for seals.

In a coordinated attack, both elite jonin used their respective ninjutsu, unleashing invisible spatial slashes that tore through the air. The devastating attack instantly killed more than sixteen of the remaining forty-two Takage ninjas, severely weakening their defensive line.

However, in that same span of time, Genso had cut down over one hundred and eighty-nine enemy ninjas. But the relentless use of his techniques had drained his chakra reserves. He had only twelve chakra pills left, his current energy level plummeting to 190 / 7290. He quickly consumed several pills, the immediate surge of energy a temporary reprieve. He knew he would have to carefully balance fighting with taking the pills to sustain his assault.

The initial wave of enemy ninjas had numbered around 1260. Now, only 870 remained. Genso was responsible for the majority of the casualties, often exploiting the close proximity of weaker enemies to the higher-level threats. A tactical flaw in the enemy's formation placed a significant sixty percent of their high-level ninjas at the front, facing the initial Takage defenders, while thirty percent were positioned at the rear, and the remaining high-level ninjas were interspersed amongst the lower and mid-level ranks. This created a bottleneck in the inner pathways, offering limited space for maneuverability.

Genso capitalized on this confined space, using his teleportation to strike with deadly precision. His enemies had little to no chance of reacting before his blade found its mark.

"System, give me 20 Explosion tags."

Ding... One thousand points have been deducted.

At this critical juncture, Genso no longer cared about conserving System points. There was no time for such considerations. His sole focus was the protection of his remaining clan members.

Genso poured every ounce of his remaining energy into his attacks. Wherever he teleported, explosions and destruction followed. Limbs and torsos were ripped apart, painting the walls and floor with a gruesome tapestry of blood. His own blood boiled with exertion, and his life force was slowly being depleted with each successive fold of his thunder sword breathing technique.
