Chapter 7: yeah, i mean, there's grass in it
Hui didn't mean to get in the middle of the two's fight. It's just, she hadn't calculated for the fact that since the borrowed qi wasn't hers, her body, after a few hours of flying, the qi had suddenly dissipated and released itself from her body and veins, instantly running lose, her wings burst into particles, the qi escaping into the air, and she, sent plummeting towards the ground.
By the time she realized her destination, it was already too late, so she did her best landing before blocking the two blades descending toward her with her manacles. Somehow it worked, the manacles instantly halting in place all the power that the men had, connecting to them through their swords. She began to wonder what kind of overpowered spiritual item these chains were.
They could even shut down the qi of a nascent soul cultivator, directly through his blade! Li Haoli had treated them like they were an everyday object, and even forgotten to take them off when he tossed her over the cliff. Where had he even gotten them?!
Either way, she also didn't mean to begin sobbing either, it was just that when she landed, the dust had blown upwards into her eyes, causing them to sting, and water welled up naturally to wash it out. She wanted to explain it, but unfortunately, she still couldn't talk. And just sat there mutely, trying to stop the tears in her eyes, by rubbing out the dust.
Everyone in the stadium was just staring at her. It was probably the most embarrassing moment of her life.
No girl wants to be the one who bursts out into tears in the middle of a stage. Unfortunately, things happen, such as dust gets in your eyes. And let me tell you, it is always dust. Really. It's always the dust just messing with you.
Zi Yiliang immediately took advantage of the reprieve to surrender.
"Tch! Since we've been interrupted, I'll yield the win to you this once! Take the child as a prize!"
He didn't want to lose his nascent core by continuing the battle and yielding was better than a one-sided beating from that monster in a fight, when he was obviously out for blood. As for the child, it was well known that Lu Biming hated the weak, and thus hated women and children. In fact, he hated the weak so much that he'd never even taken in more than two disciples. And they were both geniuses.
Therefore, when Zi Yiliang said this, it was like asking him to take another disciple, and what was more a girl child. A combination of his most disliked people. This obviously inflamed Lu Biming, but since he was in front of so many people, he couldn't just refuse the child like she was nothing, especially after having his blade blocked by her.
"Hmph. Fine, but next time, you'll feel the full wrath of the blade of Qingcao." He picked up the girl by her collar and leapt into the air, almost seeming to fly up to where the sect master sat. He came before the sect master and bowed. "It's finished."
The sect master nodded, dismissing him. But Lu Biming didn't move.
"You did well." Complimented the sect master, dismissing him a second time. Lu Biming still didn't move.
"I'll reward you back at the sect." Lu Biming stood strong. The sect master had had enough.
"For goodness sake, Biming, grow up and just take the child back with you! You need another disciple anyway, and some feminine presence would do your peak good!" He stood up in a huff, and left with the rest of the audience, jumping onto his sword to fly back to the sect.
Hui felt like she was being tossed around again. She bowed to Lu Biming. But since she couldn't say anything, she wasn't sure how to refuse being a disciple.
"What is it?" Complained Lu Biming, noticing her bow. She waved her hands, refusing, and then pointed to herself, and then away, making a 'goodbye' motion.
"What? Can't you speak?" Snarled Lu Biming. Hui shook her head and bowed once more, hoping he got the memo, before tuning and walking away from him. It was never good to get involved with prideful men like Lu Biming. They were her most hated type of man, and she wished to avoid living in any proximity with one until she was stronger than them.
However, before she could take two steps, she felt a strong hand clasp her shoulder.
"Now, where are you going?" She sighed, how was a mute person ever to get through to a man who didn't listen when a normal person talked. Wasn't it hopeless for someone who couldn't?
He leapt onto his sword, pulling her along with him. "That slimy sect leader." he cursed to himself as they flew away.
They finally came into sight of the sect. And rather than peaks, they looked more like many hills. There were 12 hills, and on each hill was a menagerie of houses, each bustling with life, except one. Which only had a wood shed and three buildings each with a small courtyard. She quickly realized where her place of residence would be.
However, before sending her on her way, Lu Biming threw her off the sword into his own courtyard and landed gently beside her. She really didn't see why he had to throw her, but after falling off so many high places, Hui had already mastered the art of landing and landed herself quite well, much to Lu Biming's undisguised disappointment.
He held out his palm. "Show me your hand."
She gave him her foot. He didn't take it well and grabbed it, throwing her backwards and onto her back. "If you're in the mood to play jokes, I'll gladly let you become one." He snarled, before walking over to where she was and grabbing her wrist violently. She felt his qi invade her meridians, but rather than seeing his face brighten at her incredible talent, she instead saw it dim in disappointment. He'd only finally yielded since he thought she might have talent, since she blocked his blade. He was wrong.
This was because Hui, although incredibly smart, didn't have a lot of cultivation knowledge. When she had rearranged her meridians, she had done so in a way that made accumulation incredibly efficient and incredibly powerful. It made it so that no matter what kind of spiritual energy she cultivated, it would be able to contain unimaginable power. Unfortunately, there wasn't a natural constitution like this, and when she'd redone her meridians, she'd put the vessels all over the place, even accidently rearranging her pressure points. Not to mention there was still incurable poison running through her blood, causing her to look incredibly unhealthy. And her milk white, uncalloused skin, from being imprisoned for so long, caused people to think she'd never worked a day in her life.
When a knowledgeable expert such as Lu Biming looked at her body, it was like looking at the web of a spider who had no idea what it was crafting and put his webs everywhere to catch it's flies, without order. Even if they were strong, they were completely in disarray and held no resemblance to any other spiders in existence. Plus he was looking for a good natural constitution. Hui's was anything but natural and had no spiritual roots since the beginning. She was born a waste. Even more, the chains currently made it almost impossible to access her qi, and although she was able to release it in bursts, that was the majority of what she could accomplish currently. When Lu Biming inspected her, it looked as if she hadn't cultivated a day in her life.
