Chapter 49 - This Angel Exudes Black Aura

"This is... positive energy!"

Moss had originally said, "When I'm in positive energy, I'm a positive person; when I'm in negative energy, I'm a negative person," just offhandedly and half-joking. But unexpectedly, she actually began to sense the presence of positive energy.

At the moment, she was in her Blood Queen form after receiving the soul of Myotismon, so she should only be attuned to negative energy. Positive energy, to her in this state, should feel like an electric shock—painful to the bone.

But now she could sense positive energy without any harm, which meant… she was acknowledged by both the light and the dark?

She canceled the reception spell and returned to her Angewomon form. As expected, she could still feel the presence of negative energy.

"A holy-demonic hybrid!"

In a world balanced between positive and negative energies, this was like being the patch notes answer—the chosen child of the world. A delightful surprise.

...

"Bell-bottoms, the seventies… how do I get back to my own time?"

Jade Chan sat on a bench, sighing deeply.

She had a cleverness beyond her years—though smart people often had more worries.

Earlier that morning, she'd used the Rabbit Talisman to rush to school.

Sure enough, she wasn't late. In fact, she arrived more than twenty years early!

Afterward, she tried using the Rabbit Talisman again to return to her original time, but no matter how she ran, it didn't work.

She figured it out quickly: something was missing from the Talisman's power compared to earlier that morning.

Like the high-frequency laser developed by that scientist in District 13.

That was the issue—without access to such high-frequency lasers, even with the Rabbit Talisman's speed powers, she couldn't time travel again.

And so, she sat here, distressed.

"Impossible!"

"Yes, I can!"

Not far away, a kid wearing glasses pointed at a wall twice as tall as him and said to another child, "Nobody can get over that wall, it's way too high."

"I can!"

A young Asian boy stepped up—about ten years old, in a blue shirt and light brown pants.

Jade turned to look.

Uncle Jackie?

Though just a child now, he used a double-jump maneuver and managed to reach the top of the wall, but his balance failed and he started falling.

Jade rushed over. She didn't stop him from falling, but at least he didn't get hurt thanks to her cushioning the fall.

And that's how they met.

"One day, I will jump over that wall," the young Jackie said with determination.

"I believe you," Jade smiled.

More than just a wall—he'd be jumping onto moving trains in the future! A total superman!

As they chatted, they brought up Uncle.

Jade jolted. "That's right, Uncle's magic. I was so dumb."

She couldn't get her hands on any high-frequency laser, but this world didn't just have tech—it had magic.

Uncle's chi magic could surely send her back to her own time!

She immediately asked young Jackie to take her to his home, which was the location of Uncle's antique shop twenty years in the future.

They entered the shop with a jingle from the bell.

"Welcome... Jackie, is this your friend?" said a middle-aged man—it was Uncle.

Though not the white-haired old man Jade remembered, this was the black-haired version of Uncle from years past.

"Where are the antiques?" Jade looked around and noticed that the place was neat and filled with cassette tapes, not a single antique vase in sight.

Uncle was surprised. "You're the second person to say that today. Is this place really better suited for selling antiques? I was thinking of opening a store just for 8-track tapes."

Jade was puzzled. "Second person? Who was the first?"

"A woman earlier. She wanted to buy this place to sell antiques," Uncle replied.

"Huh?" Jade fell into thought.

Ding-ling~

The doorbell rang again.

Four men entered, each different in height and build—the four from the Dark Hand.

The first, Finn.

Tall, red pompadour, white suit, pink shirt.

Second, Chow.

A bit shorter, yellow glasses, black suit, gray shirt.

Third, Ratso.

About 6'3", looked a bit dumb, black suit, white shirt.

Last, Tohru.

Over 7 feet tall, sumo-like body, wide as a wall.

Jade chuckled nervously, "These guys definitely aren't nine years old."

Clearly, they weren't—they came from Jade's original time.

They'd crossed time in pursuit of the Talisman in Jade's hands.

Now, though, they all noticed young Jackie.

"That's Jackie!"

"He's so young."

"If we take him out now, he'll never grow up!"

Finn, Chow, Ratso, and Tohru's faces darkened.

Back in the day, before Jackie showed up, they were all respected and successful in their careers.

After meeting Jackie? They turned into clowns.

Ding-ling~

Another ring of the bell.

Everyone turned toward the sound.

Finn's eyes lit up at the figure in the doorway. "Wow, lady, this place is a bit busy right now. Come back another time."

The woman smiled. "That's alright. I came here for you."

It was Moss—now back in her Angewomon form.

"Looks like someone wants to meddle," Finn said smugly, unaware that he was face-to-face with the patch-notes version of reality. He stepped forward, flexed his fists, and tried to scare her off with a tough-guy act.

He was a gentleman—only raised his hand against women when absolutely necessary.

Swoosh!

So fast.

Like a white serpent, her arm struck Finn's neck.

It was Moss's left arm, wrapped in a silky white glove with winglets at the wrist—the arm of an Angewomon.

"..."

Finn's eyes rolled back as he crumpled to the floor, sleeping like a baby.

"Ah?!"

Chow, Ratso, and Tohru instantly became alert. No more messing around.

They remembered when they first saw Jackie—he seemed like just an archaeologist… until he turned out to be a superhuman.

This woman in strange clothing? Probably the same deal.

They exchanged glances and sprang into action.

Chow and Ratso flanked her, while Tohru charged head-on.

"Yaaa!!"

"..."

Moss remained calm, a violet glow surrounding her.

Heaven's Violet Light, Second Form—Solar Fist!

It converted the violet light into a non-physical blinding flash.

For evil or dark beings, it could burn them. For humans like these three? Just eye-searing.

Chow had it slightly better—his yellow tinted glasses worked like makeshift sunglasses.

Moss stepped forward—Chow was her first target.

"Ah?" Chow flinched, throwing up a fighter's stance.

Don't be fooled—he wasn't some weakling. Maybe not Jackie level, but still skilled among normal humans.

Thwack!

One hand chop, and Chow was down, sleeping peacefully.

Next was Ratso, then Tohru.

Tohru was tough. Her chop wasn't enough—she had to strike him several more times.

Jade, Uncle, and little Jackie watched in awe.

"How did you make that light? Moss," Jade asked, remembering her name.

"Magic, of course." Moss raised her finger, which glowed faintly.

Jade didn't see anything like a flashlight and confirmed it was magic. "You're a wizard? That's perfect! Listen, I'm from the future."

"I know," Moss smiled.

Jade blinked, then beamed with joy. "Then you can send me back?"

Moss pointed to the unconscious Finn, Chow, Ratso, and Tohru. "They chased you here, so they must have the way back. Check them."

Jade searched them—and sure enough, found a crystal ball.
