Chapter 59 - Knowledge Is Power

Moss returned to her dormitory in Section 13, took out the freshly acquired Dog Talisman and Sheep Talisman, and, using her light and dark powers, destroyed them as she had done before.

"The power of immortality!"

Immortality was a passive ability. Without receiving a fatal injury, it wouldn't really show its effect.

Additionally, the Dog Talisman granted the bearer eternal youth—one's physical condition would remain forever young and full of vitality.

Moss felt it immediately, like her stamina would never run out. "From now on, endurance battles are totally my thing."

"Astral Projection!"

She had already experienced the Sheep Talisman's power before, but this time, after directly absorbing its magic, she could use it with far more ease and control.

With precise control, she could force an enemy's soul out of their body during battle, gaining the upper hand.

When masters clash, a split-second advantage can determine the winner!

Of course, for any talisman power to take effect, its magic must hit the opponent. If they're prepared—whether dodging or putting up a protective shield—it could be blocked.

In short, while talismans are convenient, winning still depends on how you use them.

[Holy Dragon Beast: 33%][Lilithmon: 13%][LadyDevimon: 14%]

Thanks to the dragon and demon factors within the two talismans, the evolution probabilities for Holy Dragon Beast, Lilithmon, and LadyDevimon all increased slightly.

There were still five talismans left out in the wild: Rat, Dragon, Horse, Monkey, and Pig. If she could absorb all of them, she'd be able to further boost these three evolution routes.

But since their whereabouts were unknown, this approach would have to depend on luck.

Moss shifted her focus to other Ultimate evolution paths—

Venusmon had already been absorbed, so no need to worry about her.

Holy Angewomon… was tough, as it required embodying divine compassion.

Mastemon required LadyDevimon as a prerequisite, which was currently stuck.

Clavis Angemon required close combat.

Dominimon represented justice and chivalry.

A thought struck Moss: "I can work on Dominimon and Clavis Angemon simultaneously. All I have to do is uphold justice through close combat."

No need for world-saving feats—just be like a Kamen Rider, punishing evil and protecting the innocent. That would increase Dominimon's evolution rate and also boost Clavis Angemon's.

Two birds with one stone!

And conveniently, Section 13 just happened to deal with that kind of business.

The next day, Moss went straight to Black and said frankly, "Give me some crime-fighting assignments."

Black blinked, stunned.

"What is it?" Moss asked.

Black came to his senses, held his forehead, and exclaimed, "Oh my god, you're so noble!"

Angels fighting demons? That's their job. But helping the police crack down on crime too? That's next-level compassion! Now this is a real angel.Even though she was the only one he'd ever met…

From then on, Moss began taking missions from Section 13, just like how she used to pick up jobs from the Fairy Tail guild—except this time, instead of expelling monsters, she was clearing out gangs.

Justice in action!Undercover infiltration officer! Punches, takedowns, and spinning kicks!

The basic procedure was to storm the gang hideouts, beat everyone down to their knees, then call in Section 13 to clean up.

Ten days later—

[Clavis Angemon: 50%][Dominimon: 80%]

"Clavis Angemon's been stuck at 50% for three days. Looks like just doing close combat isn't enough to push it further. Dominimon's been increasing steadily these past few days, but now it's stuck at 80%."

Moss stared at the Dominimon percentage.

...Eighty!

That was the closest any of her evolution routes had gotten to 100%!

Even though it wasn't 100% yet, in theory, injecting a DigiSoul into this route would be like drawing from a gacha pool that only contains Dominimon, with an 80% pull rate.

Should she try?

Might as well.

Nothing to lose.

"Ultimate Draw!"

No hesitation. Moss took a bath, changed clothes, calmed her mind. Once everything was ready, she concentrated a DigiSoul of Ultimate-level energy in her right hand and pressed it to her abdomen.

Thump! Her body lit up with a glowing aura.

And inside the glow… there was nothing.

"Eighty percent and I still failed? That's not scientific!"

Moss racked her brain—what was that missing 20%?

Dominimon's archetype was a Kamen Rider. More specifically, the Showa-era Riders. They were usually highly educated young scientists, turned into cyborg monsters by evil organizations…

Though transformed, they retained their humanity, upheld high morals, and carried a strong sense of chivalry—thus becoming Kamen Riders.

"Could it be… that the missing 20% is knowledge?"

Moss was immediately stumped. Studying wasn't her thing.

Especially when Dominimon likely required knowledge in electronics, mechanics, even biochemistry.

Sure, she was a Digimon now, but she didn't feel any smarter.

Are Digimon made of data?

They do have digital traits, but Moss believed their essence was still biological.

Lifeforms made of data… are still lifeforms.

Data is just an adjective—not the subject.

Because they're living beings, they get hurt, they bleed, they feel hunger—some are smart, others are just plain dumb.

In fact, the majority of Digimon in the Digital World are dull, average beings. Some don't even have brains.

"Let me handle the studying," said Angewomon, volunteering herself.

Moss was surprised. "You're good at studying?"

"I'll do my best," Angewomon replied.

Moss thought about it and decided to give it a shot. After all, Section 13 had quite a few scientists and researchers—like that doctor who built the high-frequency laser emitter, Dr. Coppler.

At least when it came to machines and optics, he was top-tier.

"There are ten days left before the next crossover. Time to buckle down and study."

From that day on, Moss stopped going out on missions and stayed inside Section 13, diving into learning about electronics, mechanics, biochemistry, and optics.

If it were just her, she might only grasp the basics in ten days.

But she wasn't alone!

Her body housed not only herself—but also Angewomon. And Angewomon had incredible talent in this area.

While Moss was still reviewing the fundamentals, Angewomon's progress skyrocketed.

"Angewomon, you were being way too modest before."

Thinking back to how Angewomon had originally discovered the Digimon Assimilation spell, Moss realized their difference in learning ability was like that between an average student and a genius.

Angewomon had now fully embraced her own talent and smiled. "Moss, you handle the practical. Leave the theory to me."

"Got it."

Moss smiled faintly. Divide the labor, and things go smoothly.

Dominimon's evolution chance rose steadily in that study-filled environment.

85%...90%...95%...

So the missing piece really was knowledge.

There was also an unexpected bonus:

[Holy Angewomon: 5%]

"Looks like Holy Angewomon needs to be rich in knowledge too. After all, she's a messenger of the gods—having vast wisdom makes sense."

Still, the priority was Dominimon's evolution. Moss focused her mind and got back to work.

98%...99%...[Dominimon: 100%!]

Finally, with only one day left on the crossover countdown, Dominimon reached a full 100% evolution probability.

"This time it's a guaranteed hit!"

At 100% probability, there's no room for failure. Success was inevitable.
