Chapter 36 - 036 : The mystery of Su Yun.

Days turned into weeks.

Lin Tian, once the ruler of a universe, now found himself living an ordinary life. School, classes, homework—things he had never bothered with before. Yet, despite the simplicity of this world, he had come to understand something.

Strength meant nothing here.

It wasn't about power.

It was about people.

And the most important person in this world—was Su Yun.

The more he observed her, the clearer it became—she was hiding something.

Every morning, she arrived with a smile. Every afternoon, she laughed with her friends. Every evening, she walked home as if nothing was wrong.

But when no one was watching—her eyes told a different story.

Lin Tian knew suffering. He had seen it in countless lives before—but never like this.

Because in this world, pain wasn't physical.

It was something deeper.

And Lin Tian had never faced something like this before.

One day, as Lin Tian was leaving school, he saw Su Yun standing near the entrance, talking to a man in a suit.

She looked tense.

The man, tall and well-dressed, had a sharp gaze, his tone low but firm. Lin Tian couldn't hear the conversation, but he didn't need to.

Su Yun's hands were clenched.

Her body was stiff.

And most importantly—she wasn't smiling.

The man said something, and Su Yun flinched slightly.

Then, after a few more words, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the city.

Su Yun stood there for a moment, her eyes blank.

Then, as if realizing people were watching, she forced a smile and walked toward the school gates.

Lin Tian narrowed his eyes.

That was the first time he had ever seen her lose control.

"Who was that?"

And more importantly—what did he want from her?

That evening, as Lin Tian walked home, dark clouds rolled across the sky. Within minutes, rain began to pour.

He walked through the streets, his mind filled with thoughts of Su Yun and the mysterious man.

Then—he saw her.

She was sitting on a bench in the park, completely still, the rain soaking through her clothes.

She didn't move.

Didn't flinch.

Just stared at the ground, lost in thought.

Lin Tian walked up to her, stopping just a few steps away.

"You'll get sick like that," he said casually.

Su Yun blinked, looking up in surprise. "Lin Tian?"

Lin Tian sat down beside her, his school uniform already drenched.

Neither of them spoke for a moment.

Then, Su Yun smiled lightly. "You're going to catch a cold too, you know."

Lin Tian smirked. "I don't get sick easily."

Su Yun let out a quiet laugh—but it was empty.

She looked forward again, her hands clasped together. "I didn't expect you to be here."

"I was just walking." Lin Tian leaned back slightly. "But I saw you sitting here, looking like someone with a lot on her mind."

Su Yun didn't answer right away.

Instead, she closed her eyes, letting the rain fall over her.

Then, finally, she spoke.

"Lin Tian… have you ever felt like no matter what you do, nothing changes?"

Lin Tian's golden eyes flickered.

He had lived for thousands of years. He had defied fate, shattered destiny, erased gods.

And yet—he didn't know how to answer that question.

Because in this world, power couldn't change things.

Only understanding could.

So he spoke honestly.

"I don't know," he admitted. "But if you feel that way… maybe you should tell me why."

Su Yun let out a breathless laugh. "You're too direct, Lin Tian."

Lin Tian smirked. "I don't like wasting time."

She glanced at him, then looked away.

For a moment, he thought she wouldn't answer.

But then—her smile faded.

And in a quiet voice, she whispered:

"My parents don't want me."

Lin Tian's expression didn't change.

But inside—something clicked.

This wasn't a simple sadness.

This was deeper.

He remained silent, waiting for her to continue.

Su Yun stared at the wet pavement beneath her feet. "I was adopted when I was little. My real parents… abandoned me."

Lin Tian's fists clenched slightly.

She continued.

"My adoptive family was kind at first. But things changed. They started… seeing me as a burden." She let out a small, bitter laugh. "Now, I'm just someone they tolerate until I graduate."

She smiled—but it was the saddest expression Lin Tian had ever seen.

"I guess I never really belonged anywhere."

The rain kept falling, but Lin Tian barely noticed it.

For the first time, he understood.

This was Su Yun's battle.

Not against enemies, not against fate—but against loneliness.

And for the first time in his life—Lin Tian didn't know how to fight it.

Lin Tian exhaled slowly, his mind racing.

In the past, when he faced a problem, he would destroy it. But this? This was different.

He couldn't erase her pain.

Couldn't force her to feel better.

So what was he supposed to do?

Finally, he spoke.

"Su Yun."

She turned to him, eyes expectant.

Lin Tian looked straight at her.

"You belong here."

Su Yun's eyes widened slightly.

Lin Tian leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees. "Maybe your family doesn't see it. Maybe they don't deserve you. But you belong here."

Su Yun stared at him, searching his face. "How can you say that?"

Lin Tian smirked. "Because I decided it."

She blinked—then let out a soft, real laugh.

For the first time, she wasn't faking it.

Lin Tian's smirk widened. Good.

Then he stood up, stretching. "Come on. You'll catch a cold."

Su Yun hesitated, then nodded.

Together, they walked through the rain, side by side.

And for the first time—Lin Tian felt like he was making progress in this trial.

Not through strength.

Not through power.

But through understanding.
