Chapter 20 - Test

Two months passed quickly. During this time, Naoya had relentlessly refined his Domain Expansion, pushing its stability and power to new heights. More impressively, he had successfully mastered Domain Amplification.

The strength of Domain Amplification scaled with the user's Domain Expansion. The more refined and powerful the Domain, the more potent the Amplification became. This was evident in the stark difference between how Sukuna used it against Gojo compared to how the Disaster Curses had employed it.

Naoya smirked as he tested the technique, feeling the thin layer of his unimbued Domain wrap around his body like a second skin.

During this time Naoya mastery over domain expansion and the defeat of a special grade curse was spread like a wild fire in the jujutsu society.

After two months of intense training, Naoya finally stepped outside, walking through the familiar grounds of Jujutsu High. The cool morning air felt different—like the world had shifted just a bit.

as he was walking Geto noticed him. He paused mid-step, his usual calm expression flickering with mild surprise before settling into an amused smile. "Long time no see, Naoya. You look… different."ong time no see, Naoya," Geto greeted with a calm smile as they crossed paths in the courtyard.

Gojo, leaning against a nearby tree with his usual lazy grin, tilted his head. "What happened? Go into hiding? Or were you out picking on people weaker than you again?"

Naoya didn't even react. He just stopped a few feet in front of them,

"You two wanna throw hands?" His voice was flat, but the challenge in his words was unmistakable.

A beat of silence.

Then—Geto and Gojo exchanged a glance. The corners of their mouths twitched in unison.

Gojo pushed off the tree with a sigh. "Tch. You're gonna regret that."

Geto chuckled, rolling up his sleeves. "Well, this should be interesting."

Naoya smirked. "Yeah. For me."

Geto chuckled "So, who's first?"

Naoya smirked. "Rock, paper, scissors to decide."

The three strongest sorcerers of their generation stood in a loose circle, hands raised.

"Rock, paper, scissors—"

Gojo threw scissors.

Geto threw paper.

Naoya threw rock.

Naoya's smirk widened as he turned to Geto. "Guess you're up first."

Gojo leaned back against a tree, crossing his arms. "Try not to embarrass yourself, Suguru."

Geto shook his head with a grin. "Don't worry about me. Worry about yourself when it's your turn."

The air between them crackled with anticipation.

The test of strength was about to begin.

Knowing full well that any of the three of them could easily level the school if they got serious, they agreed to relocate. A nearby forest, far from civilians, was chosen as the battleground.

Gojo quickly erected a sturdy veil—blocking cursed energy from leaking out and concealing their presence from outsiders.

Leaves rustled in the quiet woods. The stage was set.

Naoya stepped forward, eyes locked on Geto.

Geto rolled his shoulders and smiled. "Finally."

For a few tense seconds, they stood motionless—two predators sizing each other up.

Then—

BOOM.

The ground shattered beneath them as they launched forward at the same instant. No cursed techniques, no tricks—just raw, brutal martial arts.

Naoya's fist cut through the air, aiming straight for Geto's jaw. Geto twisted, barely avoiding the blow as he countered with a sharp elbow toward Naoya's ribs. Naoya blocked with his forearm, the impact sending a shockwave through the trees around them.

They broke apart for half a second—then collided again.

Fists and limbs blurred as they exchanged blows, each strike faster and harder than the last. Naoya feinted left before snapping a vicious roundhouse kick toward Geto's side. Geto caught his ankle and yanked, but Naoya twisted midair, breaking free and landing in a crouch before lunging back in.

Gojo watched from his perch, chin resting on his hand. "Huh. Not bad."

Geto ducked under Naoya's next punch and drove his knee upward. Naoya barely managed to shift his weight, taking the hit on his hip instead of his stomach. He retaliated instantly, slamming his palm into Geto's chest hard enough to send him skidding back.

Dirt and leaves kicked up around them as they circled again, breathing steady despite the intensity.

'We're equal in hand-to-hand? That sucks,' Naoya thought.

"Are you ready, commoner?" Naoya shouted, his voice dripping with arrogance.

Geto responded by spreading his arms wide, shadows stretching unnaturally around him. "Come at me, Zen'in," he challenged, as dozens of grotesque cursed spirits began emerging from the darkness behind him - their twisted forms writhing and chittering as they materialized.

One of the curses lunged forward, its grotesque maw opening wide before vomiting a torrent of swamp-like water directly at Naoya. The putrid liquid surged toward him with alarming speed, threatening to engulf him completely.

Naoya's eyes flashed.

"Projection Sorcery."

His cursed technique activated instantly. The incoming swamp water froze midair, fracturing into dozens of small, animated white frames - just as Naobito had once done against Dagon's attacks. The disgusting liquid hung suspended like broken shards of glass before clattering harmlessly to the ground.

Naoya didn't pause.

With movement so fast it left afterimages, he launched at Geto like a bullet. The air itself seemed to scream in protest as Naoya crossed the distance between them in less than a blink. His right fist cocked back, cursed energy swirling around it in visible waves.

Geto's eyes widened slightly - even for him, this speed was borderline incomprehensible. His cursed spirits reacted instinctively, throwing up multiple layered defenses between them. A massive, armored curse materialized directly in Naoya's path, its spiked carapace gleaming.

Naoya's smirk never wavered.

"projection sorcery."

His fist connected with the cursed spirit's armor. For a single, frozen instant, the world seemed to stop. Then -

CRACK!

The cursed spirit's frozen form shattered into glittering fragments as Naoya blasted through, his fist rocketing toward Geto's face with unstoppable momentum.

Geto knew Naoya was fast—speed was almost the entire foundation of his technique—but seeing it firsthand was something else entirely. Even prepared, he barely managed to cross his arms in time.

BOOM!

The impact sent shockwaves tearing through the forest, uprooting trees and sending debris flying. Geto's boots carved deep trenches in the earth as he skidded back, his arms throbbing from the force.

Naoya landed lightly, already coiled for another strike. "What's wrong?" he taunted, "Can't keep up?"

Geto exhaled sharply, brushing dirt from his sleeves with deliberate calm. "I underestimated you, Naoya. My bad." His lips curled into a dangerous smile as the air around him grew heavy with cursed energy. "Should I take this seriously now?"

The ground trembled as two monstrous figures materialized beside him.

First came Rainbow Dragon, its massive serpentine body coiling through the air with unnatural grace. The Special Grade curse's pearlescent white scales shimmered with prismatic light, its bulging yellow eyes locking onto Naoya with primal hunger. The dragon's mere presence warped the surrounding space, distorting colors like oil on water.

Then came Kuchisake-Onna, her pale form flickering between the trees. The Slit-Mouthed Woman's stitched mouth twitched beneath her bloodstained surgical mask, rusted scissors clicking open and shut in her trembling hands. Her tattered school uniform fluttered as she began whispering her haunting question, the words slithering through the air: "Am I... beautiful...?"

Before Naoya could react, the world around him twisted.

Suddenly, he was trapped inside Kuchisake-Onna's Domain—a nightmarish, bloodstained classroom frozen in time. Cracked windows leaked a sickly red light, and desks were overturned like a crime scene paused mid-chaos.

The Binding Vow of her cursed technique locked his limbs in place, paralyzing him. He couldn't move—not until he answered her question.

Her voice echoed through the classroom, sweet and sadistic.

"Am I pretty?"

Naoya smirked, completely unfazed. "You're ugly."

Her eyes widened in rage. "Liar."

In an instant, spectral scissors as tall as doors materialized around him, their rusted blades gleaming with malice. They snapped toward him with terrifying speed.

Naoya reacted quickly.

A pulse of cursed energy erupted from within—Domain Amplification surged across his body like a second skin. The thin barrier of his unimbued domain blunted the impact of the cursed technique, weakening its lethality.

Still, the scissors tore into his flesh, slicing deep into his arms and legs. Blood dripped down his limbs, but nothing was severed.

Teeth clenched, eyes burning with defiance, Naoya growled,

"Annoying bitch."

In the blink of an eye, Naoya appeared beside Kuchisake-Onna, his hand outstretched, ready to deliver a devastating blow. He was going to end this in one strike.

But just as his palm moved to crush her, Geto's voice rang out sharply.

"I won't let you."

A massive Rainbow Dragon surged from the shadows, roaring with power. It shot toward Naoya with blinding speed, its jaws snapping open, ready to tear him apart.

The dragon's fangs sank into Naoya—but it was nothing more than an afterimage.

In an instant, Naoya appeared above the dragon, his eyes cold and deadly. His palm lightly brushed the creature, and in the blink of an eye, the Rainbow Dragon froze.

The dragon's movements halted as it became an animate frame—locked in place, unable to move for 10 seconds. The curse's power was now helpless, unable to retaliate.

Naoya, deciding to end the fight quickly, vanished in a blur of motion, reappearing behind Geto with his insane speed. But before he could strike, a massive curse, resembling a grotesque worm, lunged toward him, blocking his path.

"Oh, you saw that? Congrats, that's the last thing you'll ever see."

With a brief chuckle, Naoya's eyes narrowed, and without hesitation, he powered up, the air around him crackling with the surge of his cursed energy.

"I guess I need to go even faster."

The ground beneath his feet shattered as he launched forward, his speed now surpassing his previous limits. His fist, wreathed in swirling cursed energy, shot straight for Geto's face—

Only for Geto to suddenly dispel his curses and raise his hands in surrender.

Naoya's fist stopped just inches from Geto's face, the shockwave of the halted punch kicking up dust around them. His eyes burned with confusion.

"It's my loss," Geto said calmly, a faint smirk on his lips. "I don't want to sacrifice my curses for this battle."

Naoya's expression darkened. "Tch. Running away?"

Geto shrugged. "Call it strategic retreat. We both know how this would end." He glanced at the blood dripping from Naoya's cuts, then at the fading remnants of his own curses. "No point wasting resources when we've already seen what we needed to."

Naoya lowered his fist, clicking his tongue in irritation. "Weak."

Geto chuckled, turning away. "Say what you want. But you and I both know you wanted to fight him more anyway." He jerked his chin toward Gojo, who was still lounging on the boulder, grinning like an entertained spectator.

Naoya's smirk returned, sharper now.

Geto waved lazily as he walked off. "Goodluck."

The moment he passed through the veil's boundary, Naoya turned his full attention to Gojo, his cursed energy flaring anew.

"Your turn, Six Eyes."

Gojo's grin widened as he finally stood up, cracking his neck.

"Took you long enough."
