**

The vast desert stretched endlessly, with ferocious sandstorms raging across the land.

Lin Feng carefully shielded Qing Lin, ensuring she was protected as they pushed forward against the storm.

As they advanced, the howling winds lashed against them, carrying grains of sand that stung like needles upon their skin.

The relentless storm forced Lin Feng to circulate his Dou Qi, forming a thin protective layer over his face.

Only this way could he avoid the fate of having his face sandblasted beyond recognition.

Beneath them, the scorching desert sand—heated by the blazing sun—felt like walking on burning iron pellets.

Every step made them feel as if they were treading upon fire.

Looking ahead at the boundless desert, Lin Feng couldn't help but feel a bit troubled.

Originally, he had thought the Tagore Desert wouldn't be much different from the deserts he had traveled through before.

Yet, upon arrival, he quickly realized that the environment here was far harsher than he had expected.

Although he had considered using Purple Cloud Wings to fly across the desert, the Tagore Desert was similar to the Magic Beast Mountain Range—

Mercenaries frequently roamed this place to hunt Magic Beasts.

Moreover, using flying Dou Techniques would drain his Dou Qi rapidly.

After considering all factors, he decided to give up on flying.

That said, despite the extreme conditions, the desert was also rich in fire-attributed energy.

Perhaps due to the constant sun exposure, the fire energy here was even denser than the secluded valley in the Magic Beast Mountain Range.

Additionally, the fire energy was exceptionally pure and domineering.

For fire-attributed cultivators, this was a great place to train.

Taking her gaze off the map, Qing Lin glanced at Lin Feng's back—a little thin but making her feel incredibly safe.

After a brief moment of daze, she adjusted the cloth covering her face, ensuring it was secure before softly reminding him,

"Young master, according to the map, beyond this sand dune is the habitat of a Rank 2 Desert Rock Serpent."

"We're almost there, huh?"

Lin Feng murmured as he looked toward the top of the sand dune not far ahead.

Turning back, he noticed that Qing Lin was panting slightly.

After all, she only had the strength of a seven-stage Dou Zhi Qi.

After a brief moment of thought, he said,

"Let's take a short break before moving on."

With that, he sat down on the dune, conserving his energy.

A short while later, both had recovered and resumed their journey.

Soon, they reached the top of the dune.

The two carefully hid behind the sand dune, only exposing their heads to observe the open area below.

There, in the middle of the sand, was a wide cave entrance, about a meter in diameter.

Since it was midday, the Rank 2 Desert Rock Serpent had already emerged from its cave, lazily basking under the sun.

"Wait here for me," Lin Feng instructed.

As soon as he finished speaking, a layer of crimson Dou Qi enveloped his body.

With a burst of strength from his legs, his figure shot forward like a cannonball, heading straight for the Rank 2 Magic Beast.

Sensing the incoming danger, the Desert Rock Serpent swiftly turned its head.

Its gray vertical pupils slightly widened as it glared viciously at the approaching enemy.

"Scarlet Flame Palm!"

Lin Feng unleashed his Dou Technique, his palm glowing with intense fire energy.

Feeling the threat, the Desert Rock Serpent retaliated fiercely.

Its powerful tail lashed out, carrying immense force as it whipped toward Lin Feng.

Boom!

The collision of man and beast generated a shockwave, sending a burst of sand flying into the air.

The airborne sand particles obscured Qing Lin's vision, making it impossible for her to see what was happening inside.

For a moment, she worried—

But as soon as the dust settled, she breathed a sigh of relief.

In front of her—

Lin Feng firmly grasped the serpent's tail with his left hand, forcefully twisting and yanking it toward the serpent's own head.

Lin Feng's right hand pressed firmly against the serpent's head, rendering its entire body immobile.

"Qing Lin, come here."

Hearing Lin Feng's call, Qing Lin quickly ran over.

As she got closer, her gaze fell upon the fierce Desert Rock Serpent, making her instinctively shrink back in fear.

"Can you do it?" Lin Feng asked as he observed her hesitation.

Thinking about how her young master needed her help, Qing Lin firmed her resolve and nodded determinedly.

She stepped beside the serpent's massive head, took a deep breath, and focused her concentration.

Her emerald-green eyes, as clear as flawless jade, locked onto the serpent's pupils.

"Ah!"

Suddenly, Qing Lin let out a sharp, high-pitched scream.

As the piercing sound rang through the desert, the edges of her green pupils began to change.

Three tiny green dots suddenly emerged, standing out clearly against her emerald irises.

Unlike before—when they had to be carefully observed to be seen—

This time, the three dots were undeniably prominent.

Lin Feng, watching from the side, noticed that these three green dots seemed to resemble tiny budding flowers.

Qing Lin's screams intensified, piercing through the air like a sonic blade.

As the shrill sound grew stronger, the three green dots in her pupils radiated a mysterious glow.

Then, in an instant—

The three green dots transformed into three tiny, fully bloomed green flowers.

A strange, eerie green light burst forth, enveloping the Desert Rock Serpent completely.

The moment the serpent was bathed in this mysterious light, its massive body went rigid.

Its gray vertical pupils trembled in shock and terror, staring at the young girl before it.

The eerie glow moved slowly across the serpent's body, eventually settling at the center of its forehead.

Once the light stopped moving, it began to shrink in size.

Yet, even as its range diminished, its luminosity intensified.

The glow condensed further, until it became no larger than a palm-sized mark.

Boom!

With one final pulse of light, two small green flowers were imprinted onto the serpent's forehead.

As soon as the mark appeared, the eerie glow gradually faded away.

In the next moment—

The tiny flowers in Qing Lin's pupils vanished, returning her eyes to their usual emerald hue.

Her body trembled, and her eyelids drooped as a wave of exhaustion overtook her.

Moments later, she collapsed onto the desert sand.

Seeing Qing Lin faint, Lin Feng rushed forward, no longer caring about the Desert Rock Serpent.

He quickly scooped her up, checking her condition.

Realizing that she was merely exhausted, he let out a deep sigh of relief.

Taking out a healing pill, he gently placed it into Qing Lin's small mouth.

Then, retrieving a water flask from his storage ring, he poured a small sip of water to help her swallow the medicine.

Only after ensuring she was stabilized did he finally turn his gaze toward the Desert Rock Serpent.

To his surprise—

The once ferocious Magic Beast now stood frozen in place, seemingly dazed.

But the most shocking change was—

Each time its gaze fell upon Qing Lin, its previous viciousness and hostility vanished instantly.

In their place was—

A newfound gentleness…
