Chapter 12 - Chapter 12, Solomon Harder

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, I then stepped out into the crisp morning air. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow on the neighborhood. I made my way down the street, eager to see how the construction of the new bank was progressing.

After a brisk fifteen-minute ride, I arrived at the bustling construction site, where a flurry of activity was unfolding. Several workers were diligently transporting heavy beams of lumber, their muscles flexed with effort, to the designated holes marked on the ground for the new building I envisioned. The sun glinting off their sweat. While others were treating the wood beams. Another group had begun the framework using the beams that had already been placed to lay the in-between for the building, and the last group was bringing in the base wood from a nearby lumber yard with wagons. The work caused a dust storm to dance in the sunlight, creating an atmosphere of industrious energy.

After watching the hustle and bustle of the worksite for 5 more minutes I then went to meet the chief construction worker Shawn Huss where I then asked him, "how's the work was going", to which he said to me "The building is going faster than expected", "Thanks to your blueprints of the build the worker and I have been able to work fast, Also it helps that your paying us 3 times the old owner. Because of that the workers are ecstatic and happy to work".

Upon hearing the news, I felt a sense of joy knowing that the workers were receiving fair wages for their efforts. It was gratifying to see that their compensation was reflective of the hard work they put in, and I appreciated the accelerated pace at which the construction was progressing. This dual benefit seemed like a win-win situation.

Curious about the local buzz, I turned to Shawn and asked, "Did you manage to get the announcement about the new bank opening published in the paper?" He smiled and nodded, confirming that he was indeed the one responsible for ensuring the news reached the community through the printed press. This allowed me to feel even more connected to the developments happening around us, knowing that Shawn played a pivotal role in keeping everyone informed. I thanked him.

After receiving the much-needed reassurance, I made my way from the bustling work site, leaving behind the noise and chaos, and set my sights on the guild. However, my intentions this time were distinctly different. Rather than engaging in my usual tasks, I had come with a clear purpose: to recruit a team for my burgeoning bank.

As I walked, I considered the various roles I needed to fill—talented individuals who understood the ins and outs of finance and could help me build a strong foundation for my venture. Before diving into the hiring process, I took a moment to access my system, eager to deepen my understanding of Mana contracts. I knew that these contracts were crucial for ensuring that the personnel I hired would be bound to their responsibilities and commitments, providing security and reliability for my bank's operations. With that thought in mind, I prepared to delve into the intricacies of these contracts, knowing they would play a significant role in my future endeavors.

Once I had absorbed the necessary knowledge, I made my way to the guild hall, a bustling hub of activity where adventurers and guild members often exchanged ideas and opportunities. Approaching Asa, a seasoned member with a warm smile and a wealth of experience, I inquired, "Does the guild allow for hiring?"

Asa nodded thoughtfully, her eyes brightening with enthusiasm. "Yes, indeed! Members are welcome to post job listings on a designated board we maintain. When you create a listing, be sure to include several important details: the specific requirements for the position, the expected time commitment, the pay rate, the job's location, and any benefits that might attract potential candidates."

After that, she turned to me and inquired about the specific type of job listing I wanted to create. I thoughtfully responded, "I would like to post a job that emphasizes not only proficiency in arithmetic but also strong communication skills. It's essential that candidates possess a willingness to learn and adapt, as this role will involve collaborating with team members and engaging with clients. I believe that a positive attitude and an eagerness to grow professionally are crucial qualities for success in this position."

I clarified that the job would be scheduled from Monday through Saturday, with operating hours from 8 AM to 6 PM each day, allowing for a well-deserved day off on Sundays. The pay rate is set at 312 Thal per hour, which reflects the responsibilities and the expertise required for the position. The workplace is located at the Bank of Apollo, positioned conveniently at the intersection of 44th and Erwin Street.

After hearing this, Asa's expression softened into a knowing smile. "Actually, I happen to know someone who perfectly matches your requirements for both skill and character. His name is Solomon Harden. He was previously employed as a financier for a distinguished noble household, where he managed their vast wealth with remarkable acumen. Unfortunately, when the latest head of the household ascended to the title, he initiated a sweeping restructure that resulted in the dismissal of nearly all the long-standing staff members, including Solomon.

Now, Solomon finds himself seeking employment in a rather unforgiving job market, as many noble households are hesitant to consider him due to his abrupt departure from such a prestigious position. As a result, he is currently unemployed and eager to find a new opportunity to demonstrate his financial expertise. If you're interested, I believe he could be a valuable asset to your team."

After considering Asa's strong recommendation, I felt compelled to give him a fair opportunity. Nevertheless, before moving forward, I wanted to arrange a meeting with him. This meeting would not only allow me to gauge his qualifications but also to engage in a discussion that would reveal his problem-solving abilities and approach to teamwork. Understanding his skills firsthand was crucial for me to make an informed decision.

After I shared my thoughts with Asa, she quickly excused herself and returned a few moments later, accompanied by a striking man in his fifties. He had a head of short, beautiful silver hair that gleamed in the light, giving him an air of distinguished elegance. Clad in a simple yet well-tailored guild uniform, he exuded an aura of authority and confidence.

I then asked Asa if the guild would allow me to borrow a room so I could interview Solomon. Hearing my request she then took us upstairs where she then left allowing me and Solomon to conduct the interview.

After the basic parts of the interview were complete I then started testing Solomon on his skills which he was extremely proficient at, finally ending the interview with me extremely satisfied with the interview after that I then called Asa back and requested a high-quality document paper which she was more than happy to get for me.

On her return I wrote up the contract for Solomon employment which states the following,

After the contract had been signed and put away I then bid myself goodbye to Asa and Solomon said that I would see him on the 30th so he prepared I told him and he bowed in response.

After that now there were only 3 more head positions I had to hire for, COO, MD, and HR next after the 4 head positions were filled then I needed to fill Vice-heads of the those positions making 8 then each head gets a board of 5 executives plus the Head and Vice-Head (VH) making 7 but luckily after that the rest of the staffing and running would be easier for HR would continue with hiring, MD would expand and cater to clients, CFO would grow the banks wealth, and the COO would get the scheduling, and operations needed fictional and efficient.

But that was for tomorrow for today now that I've got the first one out of the way the rest would follow after all when people read my posting and hear of the pay and benefits the people will just start flowing in.

After my eventful morning and even start of the evening I headed back to the estate to relax and finish the day, though before completely ending the day I finished the contracts for the other positions I mentioned.

*Authors note, (CFO)'s in real life make about $226 an hour which I wish I did as well but anyways the amount of 312 Thal per hour is an adjustment to make the pay equivalent for getting paid $3.12 and hour in the time period of the story would feel like getting paid $226 an hour, and with the rate of hours in the job hiring paper as a guild Solomon just bagged himself a job that pays 152 Ran and 8,800 Thal or a $15,288 a year job which is the same as a job that pays $1,108,380 yearly in modern time, hope you liked my little info dump also I've been adjusting prices for higher accuracy with the time.
