News has been flying around. The king's heir tried to eliminate him.
Father has long gone to the palace, so I am sure he is busy trying to settle the case, or make it worse even. I am quite curious, and would like to go to the palace to see for myself, but then I have to finish washing all of father's clothes before I can even step out of the palace.
I finish with his last robe, rinse it, then hangs it out for it to dry.
I rush back inside so I can hurry to the palace to see what is going on.
Who is this heir? Where has he been all these while? I mean, after more than fifteen years, the heir finally comes back?
I have both a bad, and good feeling about this. This better be something good.
I hurry in wearing my clothes. Do not mind my curious self, who knows what might come out of this?
I burst through the door of my room, then rush out to the front door. My heart races with some kind of excitement, but I can not tell what it is.
I close the door behind me, then head out to the palace.
I see some of my neighbors who ars very far away, walk past me. One of them, a woman, scans me from head to toe as I try walking past her.
"She must be heading to the palace," I hear her tell her companion walking beside her.
"Typical for a girl like her. Not only is she jobless, she is just a stupid busybody," her counterpart replies with a voice filled with so much disdain I feel like melting away.
I want to turn, give them a piece of my mind, but I shove the thought away. I have a more important thing to do, than listen to these old hags.
"You better stay indoors, nobody wants to see you. Stop being a busy body, and never show your face."
I clench my jaw, increasing my pace.
Good thing I do not kill.
"Quick advice," her friend chips in, "Please stay away from the palace too! No one wants a cursed little--"
"Why not get a job at the palace, and cling to the members of the Royal blood while you are at it?" I turn to face them, "Since you think I am a curse, and you so want to protect your palace, then go ahead, and try being a maid there, that is if you will be looked at."
Their jaw drop open. I turn on my heels, walking away, I am not even in the mood to argue with anyone, these people should just let me be for once!
I ball my hands into a fists, my eyes burning with tears as I furiously walk along the path, that leads to the palace.
"I will show them one day," I mutter, my nostrils flaring, "I will soon show them what it is to be in complete dominance!" I wipe my eyes, increasing my pace till I am almost running.
For the rest of the way, I try as much as possible to ignore the sneering faces, the malicious whispers, the hateful looks.
I eventually reach the palace, completely out of breath. I take in a deep breath, then try pushing the gates open.
There are no guards at the gate which only confirms that the rumors might be true. I step inside the compound, my heart begins to bang against my chest.
I swallow the heavy lump in my throat, then slowly close the gate behind me with trembling hands. What exactly is wrong now?
The image of Logan flashes before my eyes. My cheeks redden, but then some kind of ominous feeling pushes the blush back down my neck.
I can feel myself trembling from head to toe, still I can not fathom the reason why. I wipe my sweaty hands against the hem of my dress before walking into the palace building.
I hurry into the living room looking around, but all the maids, and guards appears to be busy inside because I can hear a lot of murmuring coming from the hallways.
I walk briskly towards the hallways. Of course, I want to know what happened, so I rush into the hallways hoping to find someone who is ready to spill everything.
I am walking so fast I bump into someone. I gasp, tilting my head backwards. It is a woman with golden hair packed up in a messy bun, she has very gentle brown eyes. I am a bit taller than her, so it is safe to say I am hovering above her little figure.
"I am sorry madam, I did not see you coming," I bow my head, feeling really jumpy.
I raise my head to meet her widened eyes-- shock? Disbelief? Surprise? I can not tell, but definitely she must be really-- unprepared to see me.
"You are her!" She places a hand over her mouth, her voice is barely a whisper.
Her statement awakens this self consciousness in me, "I beg your pardon?"
"You match his description. You are his mate!" She keeps on insisting.
I have a third mate now? What?!
"I am sorry madam, but who are you talking about?"
"My son, Archi," her eyes droop as she call his name.
"I have not met him before, you must be mistaken," I laugh nervously, thinking of something with which to change the topic.
Her expression goes blank, "Oh yes you have. Although he did not tell you his real name. He must have told you his name is Logan?"
My jaws drop, dumbstruck at her words. My heart race with this unsettling feeling pooling at the bottom of my stomach.
I try to say something, but words refuse to come out. Logan is Archi? Who is Archi?
She reaches out for my hand, but I flinch, and move backwards.
"I am sorry, but I just need to process all of this," I look away, my face is dripping with sweat, my hands are still trembling.
"I understand, let me explain," a tired smile play at the corner of her lips, "You deserve to know everything."
