Chapter 28 - The Breaking of a God

Kaelen had fought monsters, demons, rebellious food, and even other gods.

But nothing—nothing—compared to the raw, unstoppable power of Avarion.

The God of Wrath wasn't just strong.

He was destruction incarnate.

And Kaelen was losing.

Kaelen staggered to his feet, divine energy crackling around him as he tried to ignore the pain.

His golden aura flickered, struggling to hold itself together.

Avarion floated above him, his burning greatsword resting on his shoulder, looking completely unbothered.

"YOU LOOK TIRED, GOD-KING."

Kaelen spat blood. "You talk too much."

Avarion vanished—and reappeared in front of Kaelen in an instant, driving a knee into his gut.

CRACK.

Kaelen felt ribs shatter as he was launched through the air, crashing through mountains, rivers, and forests before skidding across the ground.

He barely had time to breathe before—

BOOM.

Avarion landed in front of him, sending out a shockwave that leveled an entire forest.

Kaelen cursed and rolled aside just as Avarion's blade came down, splitting the ground like butter.

The earth trembled beneath them, cracks spreading for miles.

Kaelen coughed. His godly healing was working overtime, but it wasn't enough.

Lyria, Thorne, and Umbra watched from a distance, unable to interfere.

Thorne gritted his teeth. "We have to help him."

Umbra shook his head. "If we step in, we'll just die instantly."

Lyria clenched her fists. "Then what do we do?"

Before anyone could answer, Avarion turned to them.

His burning eyes locked onto them.

"…WEAKLINGS."

He raised a hand, and the sky burned black.

Kaelen's eyes widened.

No.

Avarion was about to erase them from existence.

Step Two: A God's True Power

Kaelen's divine instincts screamed.

He moved without thinking, teleporting in front of his friends just as Avarion unleashed a wave of destruction.

Kaelen threw out both hands, summoning a golden barrier of pure divinity.

The attack hit.

And the world exploded.

BOOOOOOOOM.

Entire mountains were vaporized.

The earth split apart, revealing rivers of molten lava beneath.

The shockwave traveled for miles, shattering castles, toppling forests, and cracking the heavens.

Kaelen screamed as the force pushed him back, his body burning under the sheer pressure.

His golden barrier shattered into fragments of light.

But—

His friends were still alive.

Kaelen collapsed to one knee, breathing heavily.

Avarion lowered his hand, looking almost… amused.

"I SEE."

Kaelen glared up at him, struggling to stand. "See what?"

Avarion smirked.

"YOU HAVE LIMITS."

Kaelen's heart skipped a beat.

"AND NOW…"

Avarion raised his sword again.

"…I SHALL BREAK THEM."

The sky turned black.

Avarion's aura swelled, his power surging beyond anything Kaelen had ever felt before.

The earth cracked, floating islands rose into the air, and the very fabric of reality warped around them.

Avarion gripped his sword with both hands, black flames consuming the entire battlefield.

"WITH THIS STRIKE…"

His **blade burned with the power to END ENTIRE WORLDS.

"…I ERASE YOU FROM EXISTENCE."

Kaelen gritted his teeth.

His power was fading.

His body was broken.

He couldn't survive this.

.

.

.

Not unless—

Kaelen's eyes flashed gold.

He remembered something.

A lesson from the old gods.

Power wasn't just about strength.

It was about understanding.

And in this moment—Kaelen understood.

Step Four: The Awakening

Avarion swung his blade down.

Kaelen closed his eyes.

And let go.

His body erupted with golden light.

His divine power stopped resisting—and instead, became something more.

His soul expanded, reaching beyond the limits of a god-king.

Beyond the limits of reality itself.

Avarion's attack hit.

And—

It did nothing.

Avarion's eyes widened.

Kaelen floated in midair, untouched, his golden aura now a blazing sun.

Avarion took a step back.

"…WHAT?"

Kaelen slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze was calm.

"I get it now."

Avarion snarled, swinging again—

Kaelen raised a single hand.

BOOM.

Avarion's sword stopped midair, caught between Kaelen's fingers.

The ground beneath them shattered from the impact—but Kaelen didn't move an inch.

Avarion's face twisted in rage.

"IMPOSSIBLE!"

Kaelen exhaled, and the air itself trembled.

Then—

He broke Avarion's sword with his bare hands.

Avarion staggered back, eyes wide with true fear.

Kaelen's golden aura expanded, the power of creation itself flowing through him.

He wasn't just a god-king anymore.

He was something far greater.

Avarion growled, summoning black fire to strike again—

Kaelen snapped his fingers.

And Avarion's flames vanished.

The God of Wrath stared in horror.

Kaelen looked down at him.

And for the first time in ten thousand years—

Avarion felt powerless.

Kaelen floated forward, his voice calm.

"You've caused enough suffering."

Avarion snarled, refusing to back down. "I AM WRATH INCARNATE! I WILL NEVER FALL!"

Kaelen raised a single hand.

"I know."

He pressed his palm against Avarion's forehead—and unleashed his full power.

Golden light flooded the battlefield, wiping away the black flames of Wrath.

Avarion screamed as his form unraveled, his power breaking apart under Kaelen's touch.

"NOOOOOOOO—"

And just like that—

Avarion was gone.

Step Six: Silence

Kaelen floated there for a moment, letting the golden energy fade away.

The sky returned to normal.

The world stopped shaking.

It was over.

Lyria, Thorne, and Umbra stared at Kaelen in stunned silence.

"…You just snapped away a wrath god," Lyria whispered.

Kaelen exhaled, finally feeling the exhaustion. "Yeah."

Thorne shook his head. "What are you now?"

Kaelen paused.

Then, he smiled.

"…Something new."
