Chapter 174 - Chapter 171: Furry

The Nine-Tails stared at the human girl clinging to its tail, nuzzling into the fur like it was a warm blanket.

For a brief moment, its mind went completely blank.

What… is this?

A human?

Touching my tail?

HOW DARE SHE?!

Did she not understand the terror of the Nine-Tailed Fox?!

Then—snap!

Reality crashed back into place.

That's right!

I'm the Nine-Tails!

I'm terrifying!

With a sharp jerk, the fox yanked its tail away.

Sakiya's hands suddenly grasped at nothing, her blissful expression vanishing. She blinked, looking up at the beast.

The Nine-Tails growled.

"Brat!"

Its massive claws rose into the air—

And came slamming down toward Sakiya!

"Sakiya!" Naruto shouted in alarm.

But she merely… took a single step back.

CLANG!

The fox's razor-sharp claws slammed against the iron bars, stopping just one inch away from her face.

Sakiya smiled, placing her hands behind her back.

"Oooh~ so close!"

Her playful tone sent the fox's fur bristling with rage.

"You little—!!"

With a snarl, the Nine-Tails swiped at her again.

And again.

And again.

But no matter how many times it tried, it couldn't touch her.

Sakiya stayed just out of reach, her movements precise, the perfect distance controlled effortlessly.

Naruto stood there, completely dumbfounded.

He slowly walked up beside her, his eye twitching.

"...Sakiya? Is this your special 'fox negotiation skill'?"

"...Is this how you negotiate?"

Sakiya, completely unbothered by the raging beast in front of her, tapped her chin thoughtfully.

Then she turned to Naruto with a serious nod.

"Hmm... pretty much."

Naruto looked at her.

Then at the giant, furious fox.

Then back at her.

He felt a headache coming.

"...Sakiya-chan… please… this thing lives inside me."

The thought of dealing with a permanently furious fox every day made him want to lie down and give up on life.

But Sakiya just grinned.

"Don't worry! This is the safest way to handle it!"

"My negotiation methods are just a little unorthodox."

She then clapped her hands together.

"Just wait! Soon, the little fox will definitely talk to us peacefully!"

Naruto glanced at the enraged Nine-Tails, still thrashing behind the bars.

He sighed heavily.

"...Yeah. Sure."

Meanwhile, the Nine-Tails watched the two brats completely ignoring him, casually chatting away as if he wasn't even there.

Its rage only grew stronger.

At the same time, though, it realized something horrifying—

This… was pointless.

If this kept up…

Its majestic, terrifying reputation would be ruined!

With a furious snarl, the Nine-Tails finally stopped thrashing.

"DAMN BRATS!"

Its massive red eyes locked onto Naruto.

"You, Naruto! I'll remember this!"

"You just wait! I'll settle the score later!"

And with that, the Nine-Tails turned away in a huff.

Naruto stood there, completely dumbfounded.

Huh?!

Why am I the one getting blamed?!

I wasn't even the one messing with you!

He opened his mouth, ready to argue—then quickly closed it again.

Yeah. Not worth it.

With a deep sigh, Naruto turned to Sakiya, his face full of exhaustion.

"See? I told you this would happen."

But Sakiya beamed at him, looking thrilled.

"See? He's not even mad anymore!"

"The fox calmed down! Now we can negotiate properly!"

Naruto just stared at her.

"...Sakiya?"

"Are you joking?"

But Sakiya shook her head, looking at him dead serious.

"I never joke about negotiations!"

"Now that the fox is calm, this is the perfect chance to talk things out!"

And with that, she stepped forward toward the cage.

Naruto froze, then frantically pointed at her back.

"Sakiya! Did you not hear me?!"

"Kyuubi is angry!"

But before he could stop her, he saw her reach for the sealing tag on the cage's lock.

Naruto's heart stopped.

His eyes widened in horror.

"WAIT—SAKIYA! DON'T—!!"

RIP.

Too late.

Sakiya had already torn off the tag—without the slightest hesitation.

Naruto stood there, completely frozen in shock.

"W-WHAT—"

He stammered, his entire body stiff with fear.

"How… Sakiya-chan… HOW did you even do that?!"

But Sakiya just tilted her head, casually holding up the piece of paper, turning it over in her hands with mild curiosity.

"Hmm… neat little thing, isn't it?"

Naruto wanted to scream.

After a few moments, Naruto noticed something.

Nothing was happening.

"Wait… huh?"

He blinked, confused.

"That seal lock was supposed to be the most important part, right? So… why is everything still fine?"

Sakiya casually tossed the talisman aside.

It landed in the water with a soft plop and slowly sank out of sight.

And then—

A sudden gust of wind blasted from the cage door!

The water at their feet churned wildly, sending ripples across the floor.

Naruto stumbled slightly, struggling to keep his balance.

Then—

A massive wave of sinister, blood-red chakra erupted.

The air grew thick with familiar oppressive energy.

The hairs on Naruto's arms stood on end.

This chakra…

He knew it well.

Nine-Tails' presence surged, radiating raw power and hatred.

Naruto's expression hardened.

Even with just the first layer of the seal removed, the fox could already affect him this much?

Sakiya, meanwhile, simply stood there, her hair whipping back in the violent wind.

"Wow~" she murmured. "Breezy."

Then, from behind the prison bars, a massive figure emerged.

This time, Nine-Tails' aura was far more menacing.

But even so, it didn't get any closer—

Because it knew.

Even with the talisman removed, its claws still couldn't reach them.

Instead, it narrowed its burning red eyes at the two standing before its cage.

Then, with a slow, rumbling chuckle—

"Hah… ha ha ha…"

It grinned, baring razor-sharp fangs.

"Hey, brat… you tore off that seal."

"Are you trying to let me out?"

As it spoke, its voice grew deeper—more dangerous.

The air grew heavier.

Then, with a sneer—

"Hmph. Go on, then!"

"If you've got the guts, remove them all."

"Let me out completely—"

"—so I can tear you to shreds."

And at that very moment—

The massive iron door before them suddenly began to slide open.

Kyuubi's face remained locked in a vicious snarl, its eyes burning with rage as it glared at Naruto and Sakiya.

But then—

The sealing door continued to creak open.

A heavy silence filled the air.

For a moment, the atmosphere turned... awkward.

Naruto stood frozen, his expression completely blank.

Sakiya?

Smiling cheerfully.

Kyuubi?

Utterly dumbfounded.

It hadn't even finished its threat yet—

And now—

The seal was actually breaking?!

How dare she?!

How could she just open it like that?!

No warning. No hesitation. Just—poof—gone.

Meanwhile, Naruto's brain was going through the exact same thing.

"Wait, wait, wait—HOW?!"

How had she even done that?!

She just… opened it.

Like it was nothing.

No struggle, no energy surge—

Not even a dramatic pause.

She just did it.

Naruto and Kyuubi locked eyes.

Big, wide, confused eyes.

In that instant, they both came to the same realization.

They were so screwed.

And then—

BOTH MOVED.

Naruto turned and ran.

Kyuubi exploded with chakra.

A violent shockwave blasted through the chamber, sending the water surging upwards in massive waves.

Naruto was slammed back into the water as the pressure sent ripples through the space.

At the same time—

An even greater force filled the air.

Naruto shivered as he surfaced, half-drenched.

It was over.

Above him, Kyuubi threw back its head and roared.

The massive fox's tails lashed out wildly, sending shockwaves through the chamber.

Its chakra burned like liquid fire, crackling with power.

Then, with a grin—

"HAHAHAHA!"

"I'm FREE!"

Naruto, still struggling in the water, watched as Kyuubi beamed with victory.

Then—

It noticed him.

Kyuubi's grin widened as it set its eyes on Naruto once more.

"Naruto!"

"You can't run now! The seal is broken! There's nowhere to hide!"

Naruto felt his stomach drop.

This was bad.

This was REALLY BAD.

With no other choice, he pushed himself out of the water, now half-soaked, and looked up at the towering beast before him.

"Stupid demon fox... you monster..." Naruto muttered, gritting his teeth. "If you're gonna kill me, just get it over wi—"

He froze.

Something was… off.

Kyuubi noticed it too.

Both of them blinked, confused.

Something felt wrong.

Like… a presence.

And then—

Kyuubi felt movement on its head.

Naruto's eyes widened.

Kyuubi's eyes twitched.

And then they both realized.

They had completely forgotten about Sakiya.

The massive fox slowly turned its gaze upward.

And sure enough—

There she was.

Lying comfortably on top of its head.

Casually rolling around in its fur.

Like it was a giant, fluffy bed.

Sakiya let out a content sigh, her small hands running through the soft tufts of hair around its ears.

She buried her face in the silky fur, rubbing against it like a satisfied cat.

"Hmm~ So soft… so fluffy…"

She hugged a tuft of fur, giggling to herself.

"This would make such a nice bed…"

The chamber fell into stunned silence.

Kyuubi's entire body stiffened.

Its mind went completely blank.

It was furious.

It was confused.

It was losing its mind.

"YOU—!!!"

With a deafening roar, Kyuubi's chakra erupted again, shaking the entire space.

"GET OFF ME, YOU LITTLE BRAT!!!"
