Chapter 1 - chapter 1

In a small village nestled in the rolling hills of Kasese, Western Uganda, a young girl named Nzanzu grew up surrounded by the lush greenery of the African countryside.

She lived with her young brother, Muhindo, and their frail grandmother, who had been left to care for the children after their mother, Margaret passed away.

Margaret Muhesi had been a single parent, working tirelessly to provide for her children. But the pressures of raising them alone had taken a toll on her health, and she had succumbed to her struggles, leaving behind a void that could never be filled.

Despite the hardships, Nzanzu's grandmother did her best to care for the children. She taught them the ways of their ancestors, sharing stories of their cultural heritage and the importance of tradition. Nzanzu's brother, Muhindo, looked up to her and relied on her for support and guidance.

As the sun began to set on another day, Nzanzu set out to collect firewood for the evening meal.

She walked towards the nearby national park, the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. The air was cool and crisp, filled with the scent of eucalyptus and acacia trees.

As she walked, Nzanzu's thoughts turned to her mother, Margaret. She remembered the way her mother used to smile, the way her eyes would light up when she told stories of their ancestors. Masika missed her mother dearly, but she knew that she had to be strong for her brother and grandmother.

As the evening wore on, Nzanzu gathered a bundle of firewood and began her journey back home. The sun was setting over the hills, casting a golden glow over the landscape.

Nzanzu felt a sense of peace wash over her, knowing that she was doing her part to help her family.

But little did she know, her life was about to take a dramatic turn. As she walked, she stumbled upon a group of armed men, lurking in the shadows. They were a mix of foreigners and black poachers, all of them heavily armed.
