Ava couldn't help but bite the inside of her cheeks, partly from nerves and partly to keep from screaming into the void.
In all honesty, she had expected to see Zach—maybe with his usual brooding expression and his iconic "later then" aura—but lo and behold, the one who flopped into the chair across from her like he owned the manor was no other than Zeke.
"Oh? Why are you looking at me like that?" Zeke gasped, flipping his hair with flourishing gestures. "Ava, sugarplum, I know I'm attractive, but let's tone down the longing stare, hmm?"
Ava blinked, unimpressed. "Nothing," she replied coolly, still glaring. "I was just wondering what brought you here when you should be at some exclusive rooftop party, flirting with heiresses and drinking overpriced sparkling air."
Zeke placed a hand on his chest like she'd just wounded him in battle. "Wow. I didn't think you still think of me as a hooker."
