Chapter 54 - Chapter 51: Inferno Puppeteer

---

Fire and Strings

The battlefield was a hellscape of fire and shadows.

Flames roared across the station, consuming metal and stone. The heat shimmered in waves, distorting the air.

And within this inferno—

Thin, invisible strings glinted in the firelight.

Reika Hoshino stood motionless, her fingers barely moving.

But her Stand, Strings of Fate, was already at work.

Daisuke clenched his fists, his sharp eyes scanning the battlefield.

"Don't let her touch you," he warned.

"If those strings latch onto you—"

A scream.

One of the civilians under Koji's protection suddenly stiffened—his arms jerked unnaturally, his eyes wide in terror.

Then, with inhuman speed, he spun around—grabbing another civilian by the throat.

Mind control.

Reika smiled.

"I wouldn't worry about yourselves."

"I'd worry about them."

---

Split Priorities

Akira's mind raced.

They were in a two-front war.

Ayaka's flames cut off all escape routes.

Reika's strings could turn hostages into living weapons.

They couldn't afford to fight recklessly.

Koji gritted his teeth, reinforcing his barrier to protect the civilians—

But the controlled man was inside the barrier.

A perfect trap.

Koji hesitated.

If he lowered the shield, Ayaka's fire would incinerate everyone.

If he left it up—Reika's puppets would kill them from within.

A cruel, impossible choice.

"Koji—"

A burning spear of flame shot toward them.

"Damn it—!"

Hiroshi slashed the fire apart with his katana, the sheer heat scorching his blade.

He exhaled, gripping his sword tighter.

His eyes locked onto Ayaka.

"I'll handle her," he muttered.

Then he charged straight into the flames.

---

The Ronin vs. The Inferno

Ayaka laughed as Hiroshi closed the distance.

"Brave. But stupid."

She flicked her wrist—

Hellfire Waltz ignited the battlefield.

Columns of fire erupted around Hiroshi, forming a blazing labyrinth designed to cut off all movement.

He didn't stop.

Didn't hesitate.

Instead—

He moved forward.

Through the fire.

Through the searing pain.

His sword flashed.

And in one clean arc—

He cut through the flames themselves.

Ayaka's smirk faltered.

"…Oh?"

Her amusement shifted.

To curiosity.

To interest.

She raised her arms.

The real battle was about to begin.

---

The Strings Tighten

Meanwhile—

Daisuke vanished.

A blur of motion, he darted across the battlefield, dodging the civilians Reika had turned into puppets.

But no matter how fast he moved—

The strings kept multiplying.

Closing in.

Reika's voice was mocking.

"Running won't help, little racer."

"You'll all dance for me soon enough."

Then—

Daisuke stopped.

Dead in his tracks.

Akira's eyes widened.

"…Daisuke?"

Reika's lips curled into a smile.

And slowly—

Daisuke's hand rose against his will.

A single, thin thread—wrapped around his wrist.
