The Battle of Okkhaven which was Fought between Duke Balthazar and Duke Hemud Was another example of why you should not underestimate your opponents.
Duke Balthazar after invading Riverland Met little to no resistance he defeated Evander and His Rag tag army. Marching Rapidly towards Okhaven.
But as he was reaching the city he had a thought why not Build statue of Gold and when I take Okhaven it will be placed in the middle of city.
After all his name would become more famous. He would be known Conqueror. So he ordered his army to halt and gave orders to build a statue of himself with gold. As he was building his statue
He received letters and reports informing him about Duke Hemud's army has crossed the border and entered riverland.
After receiving intelligence Balthazar first decided to stop and let his army. Rest he did Attack Okhaven as Evander has fortified the city and if he tried to the city he will loose soldiers so he decided against it.
But he was still careless he was not worried about hemud . He was still giving finishing touch to his Statue.
As for hemud he also had same thought he can defeat Balthazar easily after all. Balthazar was careless.
But when the day battle arrived it was surprise for both if them.

Soon the whole battlefield turned chaotic and brutal Both the armies pushing each other back. Balthazar himself engaged trying tk motivate his men. Even though he was arrogant he was not A coward.
As for Hemud he was Behind the line trying to find ways to defeat Balthazar the reason he did not himself Participate in battle because of his age and because if his Low strength it would only get him killed.

The battle raged for Hours both the sides fighting till there last breath. Soldiers fought with courage . But soon the warr started to turn in favour of Balthazar troops there Superior numbers started to push back Hemuds soldiers especially Cavalry which had taken a lot of damage but still holding on.

Before battle Hemud did not use all of his Infantry he had his total 4000 infantry in his camp. And he only used Thirty three thousand soldiers in the initial battle. His strategy was to make Balthazar soldiers tired after hours of fighting.
And he also kept his soldiers near his camp after Balthazar was Marching towards him so the camp of Hemud's soldiers was bear.
Soon the Another 4 thousand soldier on battlefield . Joining the ongoing battle with these new soldiers Hemud's infantry started to push enemy back who were already tired.
Balthazar started to panic his soldiers were suddenly being pushed back. Soon the soldiers led by Balthazar broke and started the route the whole line of Infantry Panicked even Balthazar himself who was fighting.
Tried to shout and stop his soldiers but nothing worked his officers warning him to retreat. But in the mind of Balthazar he knew he has lost either be could retreat he thought of retreat but just he was about to retreat he tripped and fell on the ground the panicking soldiers.
Did not care who wa son the ground enemy or allies they just ran. And that's how Duke Balthazar who riding the wind of victory yesterday was trampled by his own soldiers.
And died.
But for Hemud's cavalry it was worse the left flank was already routed by enemy cavalry and they quickly started to attack hemud himself.but Hemud was safed in the end by ellos. And hus cavalry they organised themselves and attacked The enemy cavalry.
In these battle both the sides lost many soldiers. Initially Hemud thought it would be easy victory when he came to know about the casualties of his own army he was shocked.
He lost 7,500 soldiers and 3,500 where wounded his cavalry was utterly destroyed.
Meanwhile the enemy lost 18,000 soldiers.
Following day Hemud ordered his soldiers to rest. Before these battle Hemud had thought after defeating Balthazar he will march on Okhaven immediately and Conquer it but now he has ordered his Soldiers to rest.
