Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Mastery, a Qualitative Leap!

Canglang Martial Arts School.

Jiang Ning opened his eyes, his mind filled with images of the tiger from the afternoon.

Without hesitation, he assumed his stance and began practicing his fist techniques.

Fifteen minutes later, Jiang Ning retracted his fists.

[Five Animals Fist Experience +1]

[Skill]: Five Animals Fist (Proficient 52/500)

After a glance at his panel, he continued practicing.

The recent training had not been fruitless. While it hadn't led to a qualitative leap in his Tiger Fist, Jiang Ning knew he was inching closer to mastering both the spirit and form of the technique.

Taking advantage of his current state, he continued practicing, replaying in his mind the tiger's pouncing movements and the imposing aura of the king of beasts.

Three more rounds of practice and the experience gained remained steady at one point per session.

However, with each repetition, the light in his eyes grew brighter, shining even as night fell.

Huff Huff

Jiang Ning breathed lightly, his chest rising and falling slightly.

Even though he had mastered the foundational level of the Internal Elixir Cultivation Technique and tempered his internal organs, the continuous practice of four rounds without rest had left him slightly fatigued.

"Time to use the wild ginseng."

With this thought, Jiang Ning picked up the brocade box containing the wild ginseng.

Opening the red box, a ten-year-old wild ginseng root lay on the orange cloth inside.

[Source Energy]: 9.2

He glanced at his panel again, noting that he was only 0.8 points away from his target of 10.

At his previous rate, it would have taken him two full days to gain those 0.8 points.

But now, he didn't want to wait.

Making up his mind, Jiang Ning decided not to be as frugal as before, when he had used only a tenth of the ginseng at a time.

After a brief moment of thought, he split the ginseng root in half and placed one half into his mouth.

As he chewed, a sweet, warm sensation flowed down his throat and into his stomach.

Soon, he felt his body, like parched land blessed with rain, rapidly rejuvenating.

Fatigue and exhaustion faded away, his heartbeat grew stronger, and his blood circulated more vigorously.

"Taking half at once the effect is incredible! No wonder this stuff costs over ten taels of silver," Jiang Ning exclaimed, clenching his fists and marveling at the changes in his body.

Moments later, he felt his body temperature rise, his energy surging with nowhere to go. His condition had rebounded from its earlier low to its peak.

Seizing the momentum of the ginseng's effects, he resumed his practice.

Round after round, he practiced, each time refining his understanding.

During brief breaks to recover his stamina, he replayed the scenes of his senior brothers and sisters battling the tiger.

As the moon hung high in the sky, a new prompt appeared.

[Five Animals Fist Experience +2]

When this message appeared, Jiang Ning retracted his fists, a smile spreading across his face.

He had lost count of how many rounds he had practiced from dusk until now.

But seeing the change in the prompt, he knew his relentless effort had paid off.

"This feels amazing!"

Jiang Ning grinned, his teeth gleaming in the moonlight.

The change in experience gain meant he had mastered both the spirit and form of the Tiger Fist, reaching the level of mastery.

From now on, as long as he consolidated his current insights, each practice session would yield at least two experience points until the Five Animals Fist itself reached mastery.

Moreover, mastering the Tiger Fist meant he now qualified to become Wang Jin's true disciple.

A true disciple this was a genuine master-disciple relationship.

Given Wang Jin's status and strength, this would bring Jiang Ning a significant boost in his standing.

At this moment, Jiang Ning truly felt his situation was improving. The shadows that had loomed over his heart began to dissipate, and a smile naturally spread across his face.

He then grabbed a bowl of clear well water he had prepared earlier and drank it in one gulp.

"Consolidate my insights!"

"Keep practicing!!!"

His eyes burned with determination, filled with an unyielding fighting spirit.

As he sweated through his training, Auntie Sun came to the courtyard entrance several times to check on him.

Each time, she shook her head.

"This kid is too driven!"

"He's so focused on training that he's skipping dinner!"

"Now I have to keep reheating his meal over and over!"

The moon hung high above, its light draping the earth like a veil, enveloping Luoshui County in tranquility.

Only the occasional bark of a dog in the distance broke the silence.

And then

Clang Clang Clang

"Midnight, third watch beware of fire!"

Hearing the familiar call of the night watchman, Jiang Ning retracted his fists.

"So, it's already 11 p.m.," he murmured, coming back to his senses.

Gurgle Gurgle

As he regained awareness, his stomach growled like thunder.

"I'm starving!" Jiang Ning rubbed his belly, his face twisting in discomfort.

"Tsk tsk! So you do know what hunger is!"

"Auntie Sun, you're still here?" Jiang Ning turned toward the voice and saw Auntie Sun standing at the courtyard entrance.

"Of course I am! I've been reheating your meal for four or five hours! I thought you were made of iron and didn't need to eat!" Auntie Sun said with mock annoyance.

"Thank you, Auntie! I knew you were as kind as you are beautiful!" Jiang Ning chuckled.

"Enough with the flattery. Follow me!"

"Yes, Auntie!"

Jiang Ning quickly followed her.

At the same time, he glanced at his panel.

[Skill]: Five Animals Fist (Proficient 78/500)

Tonight, the Five Animals Fist gained a total of 23 experience points. The efficiency was indeed impressive!

Jiang Ning silently praised himself, his mood lifting.

Previously, a full day of hard training would yield less than 20 experience points.

But tonight, in just one evening from dusk to midnight he had gained 23 points, surpassing his previous daily gains.

"With the support of wild ginseng, the effects of my training are completely different!"

"And tonight, more than half of my practice sessions only gave one experience point."

"Starting tomorrow, each round of practice will give me two experience points and three strands of vital energy. My efficiency will undoubtedly be even higher!"

Thinking this, Jiang Ning felt a surge of excitement.

"Kid, what are you thinking about?"

Auntie Sun turned around and saw Jiang Ning lost in thought.

Jiang Ning snapped back to reality and smiled at her.

"Just reflecting on my training insights!"

"Tsk tsk! You're too driven, kid! You're starving, yet you're still thinking about training!" Auntie Sun teased.

Jiang Ning smiled but said nothing more.
