He is like an eternal 'will' a will of someone who had extremely higher status in the Enlightened artifact at the same time, the will of someone destroyed everything every living creatures in the world, no Enlightened artifact know why the will wants it nor why does they had to do it. On the contract, they even like the world, they like it very much so how can they bear to destroyed it.
However the a enlightened artifact doesn't had any choice, it's neither becoming an insane enlightened artifact because they lost their whole sanity due to constant ravings of that will or becoming an evil artifact, destroying the everything within existence.
