Lingy Luo had recently been discharged from the hospital after a recurrence of her heart condition. Her complexion had improved, her face now carrying a faint rosy hue, making her look healthier and more vibrant than before. She flashed a soft smile, her beauty reminiscent of a spring flower in full bloom, delicate yet captivating.
"I haven't had a chance to properly thank you for last time," she said, her voice gentle and sincere.
Yang Mo nodded slightly. "You're welcome. We're classmates. It's only natural to help each other."
Jang Jia smirked mischievously. "What's going on between you two? You didn't even tell me, Yang Mo. That's not nice at all! Are you two dating?"
Hearing the word "dating," Lingy Luo's face turned bright red. She quickly shook her head in protest. "What are you talking about? There's no such thing! It's nothing like that!"
Gu De Fat suddenly interjected, his face lighting up as if he'd just unraveled a great mystery. "Wait a second! You guys really are made for each other. It all makes sense now!" He grinned widely, nudging Yang Mo playfully.
"Alright, alright! Enough teasing! Can't you see that Lingy Luo's face is so red it's about to drip blood?" Jang Jia chuckled and looped an arm around Lingy Luo, leading the group towards the entrance of the amusement park. "By the way, what's the best thing to do here?"
Meanwhile, parked near the entrance, a black sedan sat idling. Inside, the Black Tiger trio observed the group.
"Boss, they've gone in. What do we do?" Chicken asked cautiously.
Black Tiger scowled, clicking his tongue in irritation. "Of course, we follow them. Damn amusement park is packed, though. Not sure if there'll be a good chance to make a move."
As they exited the car, the cab driver, who had taken them to the park, shouted after them. "Hey! You haven't paid yet!"
Chicken frantically patted his pockets. "Crap, I forgot to bring cash. Hair, you got any?"
"Nope. Boss usually pays," Hair replied sheepishly.
Black Tiger let out a string of curses before fishing out a crumpled bill. "Damn freeloaders. Here's 100. Keep the change."
"The fare was 105!" the driver protested, but seeing Black Tiger's menacing glare, he backed down and muttered, "Damn hooligans…"
Meanwhile, inside the amusement park, Jang Jia was explaining the attractions. "This place was just completed last month. It's got everything—Ferris wheel, bumper cars, carousel, you name it. But the real highlights are the roller coaster and the haunted house. They say the haunted house is so terrifying, it's like stepping into the underworld itself."
Gu De Fat gulped. "Real underworld? How do they even know? It's not like they've been there."
Jang Jia rolled her eyes. "Duh, it's just what people say."
Lingy Luo shivered at the thought. "That sounds way too scary. I don't think I can handle it."
"Ah, Luo, you're too timid! Amusement parks are meant for thrilling rides!" Jang Jia teased, hugging her close.
Yang Mo, noticing Lingy Luo's discomfort, pointed ahead. "There's a small stage set up over there. Looks like they're about to start a show. Why don't we check it out first?"
Lingy Luo shot him a grateful look, understanding that he had suggested it for her sake. The group made their way to the performance area, where a comedy act was in full swing, making the audience roar with laughter. Next came a magic show, where the magician astounded the crowd with his tricks, followed by an interactive segment that had people eagerly volunteering.
By the time the show ended, it was already lunchtime.
"Alright, let's go eat!" Gu De Fat exclaimed excitedly, practically dragging the group towards the buffet restaurant he had been eyeing since they arrived.
Yang Mo shook his head in amusement. "You were more excited about the food than the rides, weren't you?"
"Damn right! Unlimited food, man!" Gu De Fat grinned, already imagining the feast ahead.
As they walked towards the restaurant, none of them noticed the three shadows trailing behind them—Black Tiger and his men, watching, waiting, looking for the perfect moment to strike.
