Chapter 13 - The consequence of one text

A million different scenarios raced through my mind. What if he fires me? What if he humiliates me in front of everyone? What if… No, I can't go there!

My phone rang again, and this time, I almost fell off my chair. I looked at the screen—Chak. My hands trembled as I picked up the call.

"Niran, come to my office immediately," he said coldly. Before I could respond, he hung up.

I walked towards his office, my steps getting heavier with each one, as if I was marching towards my doom. When I reached the door, I knocked lightly and stepped inside.

Chak stood by the window, his back turned to me. His gaze was distant, lost in the view outside, but his voice was as cold as ever.

"Niran, how dare you send me something like that?" he said.

I blinked in confusion. "I'm sorry, sir, it was a mistake. I meant to send it to my friend, but I accidentally sent it to you," I said, trying to sound confident, though my heart pounded in my chest.

"Interesting," he said slowly before turning to face me. His sharp eyes locked onto mine. "Did you misspeak just now? You said 'friend' instead of 'boyfriend'."

I swallowed hard. "No, sir. I meant what I said."

Chak studied me for a moment before a barely noticeable smirk crossed his lips. "I see you have too much free time. From now on, you'll be cooking for me and cleaning my house every day."

What the…?

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me," he said calmly, walking to his desk. "You'll come to my house every day. Cook my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Make sure everything is clean. And just so we're clear—you'll be living with me from now on."

My eyes widened. "Live with you?"

"Is something unclear, Niran?"

"Yes, actually!" I blurted. "Why would I live with you? Why would I cook and clean for you?" My voice came out more panicked than I intended.

Chak leaned back in his chair, his gaze unwavering. "Because, clearly, you have time to send ridiculous messages instead of focusing on work. If you have that much free time, I'll make sure it's put to good use."

"I can't live with you!"

"And why not, Niran?"

Because I have a cat and… and…

Chak raised an eyebrow slightly. "Your cat? Bring it with you."

What?

For a split second, I thought I saw the corner of his lips twitch upward.

"Where do you even live?" I asked cautiously.

"I'll send you the address. Be there at 7:00 AM on Monday. And don't forget the documents."

I swallowed thickly. "Understood, sir."

"Now, go home."

As I turned toward the door, I could feel Chak's gaze burning into my back.

I desperately wished this was just a dream I'd wake up from any second now.

But it wasn't.

What the hell is happening?
