Camila wanted to run.
Down the cold stone halls, heart in her throat, the weight of betrayal sitting heavy on her chest. Nathaniel. The man who had wiped her tears, whispered soft promises in the dark… had orchestrated the worst days of her life?
No. No, it couldn't be.
But the look on his face. The silence. The guilt.
She wanted to burst through the courtyard and into the forest clearing, her breaths ragged. Tears blurred her vision as Killian's words echoed in her mind.
"He needed her… because of what she carries in her blood."
"It was all a ploy."
"His only mistake was falling in love."
She dropped to her knees, gripping the earth beneath her, screaming into the wind.
