"I'm really not weak.."

It wasn't that he was weak
it was that Wade was just too damn strong.

"Merlin's beard! How is this possible?!"

At this point, the rest of the group realized they had seriously underestimated this first-year.

One of the older students pointed his wand at Abraxas.

"Finite Incantatem!"

But Abraxas remained hanging upside down.

The counter-spell wasn't entirely ineffective, but its effects were agonizingly slow—Abraxas was still dangling in the air.

Seeing this, Tom couldn't help but marvel at Wade's abnormal talent.

After all, in his mind, the Levicorpus spell had been created by Wade...

When the three older students saw the counter-spell wasn't working, they turned to Tom and said in a commanding tone, "That's enough. Let him down!"

"And when he was attacking me, why didn't you say 'that's enough' then?" Tom said coldly. "If I didn't have some skill, what would've happened to me after taking a dozen of his curses? Compared to how cruel he was, I'm just letting him hang up there to cool off, aren't I?"

"I said, that's enough! Didn't you hear me?" the older student snapped, clearly furious at being talked back to by a first-year.

Tom looked at the guy's lumpy, asymmetrical face and suddenly remembered something Wade had once told him about pure-blood families.

He'd said, if you ever see a wizard who looks strange or deformed, it's either because they've been dabbling too much in dark magic—or because they're very pure-blooded. These families kept marrying within their own bloodlines, which is why their children often turned out misshapen and not too bright

Tom clearly remembered that after giving this "lesson," that bastard Wade had even told him, in a serious tone, to love and cherish his nose—something that had made absolutely no sense. Tom had always liked his straight, refined nose!

"I'm not letting him down. You guys are going to attack me anyways. I don't want to free an enemy to make it more difficult for me," Tom said coolly.

They were already fighting, and he was outnumbered. He'd finally gained the upper hand—why on earth would he let it go? What, was he stupid?

The older student drew his wand, and the others followed suit.

At this point, words were meaningless.

Taking Tom down first and then talking it out was clearly the better plan.

As for whether they could actually defeat Tom
none of them had even considered the possibility that they couldn't.

There were so many of them, including three upperclassmen—if they couldn't handle one first-year, they might as well quit Slytherin altogether.

And as for whether ganging up on someone was shameful...

They didn't feel even the slightest bit ashamed!

Come on! We're Slytherins! The very fact that they could rally so many people was a testament to their strength in itself!

Seeing that the others were preparing to attack, Tom's expression immediately turned serious.

Now that he understood his own ability, he no longer worried about the weaker ones.

But those three older students—that was another story. They had him fully on alert again.

For wizards, magical power naturally increased with age, and if someone practiced diligently, that growth could be even more significant.

So even if those three weren't particularly skilled, just their raw magical strength alone made them worthy opponents.

As the group closed in, Tom struck first.

"Lumos Maxima!"

A blinding flash of white light burst from the tip of Tom's wand.

"What the..!!?"

"Ack! My eyes!"

"Damn it! What are you doing?!"

Even though Tom had closed his eyes, when he opened them again, there were still lingering white spots in his vision.

That alone was enough to show just how powerful this version of the Lumos spell—learned from Wade—truly was.

If he was affected even with his eyes shut, it was no wonder the others, caught completely off guard, were all momentarily blinded.

Of course, this "flashbang" wasn't nearly as strong as the one Wade had once used to blind the wizard supremacists.

At best, it could rob them of their vision for just a few seconds.

But for Tom, a few seconds was more than enough.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

"Stupefy!"

"Ack..."

Tom's wand moved like a blur, and in a flash, he took down two of the upperclassmen.

Unfortunately, the last one had been standing in the crowd, and Tom's Stunning Spell only hit the unlucky student in front of him.

By the time Tom raised his wand again, the third senior had already smartly ducked behind the others.

Tom felt a twinge of regret—but his hands didn't stop moving.

In the blink of an eye, three more students were taken down.

Unfortunately, Tom still hadn't learned the Lightning Chain spell.

Each spell could only hit one person.

So, no matter how fast he moved, he couldn't knock out everyone in a single sweep.

Before long, the two remaining students regained their vision and managed to block Tom's next spell together.

"Lumos Maxima!"

Tom tried the same trick again.

But this time, the others were ready. They shut their eyes in time and weren't affected much.

Worse still, the last standing upperclassman, seeing Tom aiming at someone else, tried to revive the two students who'd been knocked out.

Of course, Tom wasn't going to let him succeed. He immediately redirected his wand and fired a spell to stop him.

But doing so cost him the advantage he'd gained with his earlier flash—his opening had been wasted.

And now, two opponents still remained.

One of them was that upperclassman Tom had been especially wary of.

"Get behind me!" the older student said calmly.

The remaining first-year quickly ducked behind him.

"I'll block his attacks. You go all-out and hit him!"

It had to be said—pure-blood families weren't entirely made up of fools.

After witnessing Tom's spellcasting, this student clearly understood that his group had underestimated their opponent.

So, if they wanted to take Tom down quickly, the best strategy was to maintain their numbers advantage.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The older student deflected three of Tom's spells in a row.

At the same time, the younger student behind him launched his own attack.

Although that first-year's spellcasting wasn't even on Abraxas's level...

But even a weak spell, when cast unexpectedly, was enough to make Tom frown deeply.

Just as he diverted his attention to block the first-year's sudden attack, the upperclassman's spell arrived as well.

Bang!

"Ugh.." Tom immediately felt the weight of the impact through his wand.

Though this guy's power still couldn't compare to Wade's devastating force, he was a fourth or fifth-year student—much older and with far greater magical strength than Tom.

The spell hit with such force that Tom struggled to keep his footing.

After all, he was still only eleven, and his magical strength couldn't compare.

At this moment, he was incredibly thankful that he had launched a surprise attack and taken out two of the upperclassmen right at the start.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have stood a chance.

Of course, even now, things weren't looking great

He had to hold off the heavy attacks from the older student while constantly watching out for the first-year behind him, waiting for another cheap shot.

"Huff.. huff.."

Already struggling, having to split his focus to deal with another attacker was pushing Tom to his limit

Smack!

At last, after another heavy hit from the upperclassman, a Stunning Spell from the first-year followed immediately after.

Tom's wand had been forced far to the right as he desperately blocked the previous curse. There was no way he could bring it back in time to shield against the new attack.

Unless he had fully mastered the Shield Charm on Wade's level... but unfortunately, he hadn't.

And now, he had neither the time nor the space to cast it properly.

As the incoming Stunning Spell closed in, Tom shut his eyes with unwilling frustration.

Bang!

A spell collision rang out.

"Eh..?"

Something felt off—Tom didn't feel any pain.

He slowly opened his eyes and saw a thick, solid Shield Charm completely enveloping him in all directions.

"Well, well! Tommy boy, look at you—you've come a long way!"

A familiar voice came from just behind him.
