Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Some Deep Motivation!

[Bonus for Powerstones!♥😵‍💫]

________

Wade remembered that Snape's parents had not had a happy marriage and often fought.

It was in such an environment that young Snape, during one of his parents' frequent quarrels, would often step outside the house, and that was how he ended up meeting the ungrateful bitc—ehm—girl named Lily...

However, even knowing that Charlie's sister might end up with an unfortunate partner in the future, Wade didn't plan to interfere.

Perhaps because of his arrival, many things in the future were already bound to change.

But for that tragic professor… Wade still hoped that in this timeline, he might be able to live a different kind of life.

"Speaking of my sister… she's a witch too. When she was five, I saw her levitate a kettle with my own eyes," Charlie said with a sigh. "If nothing unexpected happens, she'll probably be sorted into Slytherin as well… but you've seen what Slytherin is like now. I really hope she won't end up like me, bullied and pushed around…"

Though Slytherin didn't exclusively take pure-bloods, the fact remained that pure-blood wizards made up the vast majority of the house.

When a group is dominated by a certain majority, the minority almost always chooses to conform.

It was the only way to survive in the cracks.

Snape had been like that too. As a half-blood wizard, if he hadn't joined the pure-blood circles and aligned himself with their ideals in such an environment, he would have become the one bullied, leaving him no chance to focus on his studies.

For the sake of peace, for the sake of being accepted by the majority, he had no choice but to do so. But his so-called best friend Lily was buddies with the ones who bullied him..

After that dramatic fall, Snape distanced himself from her and began to embrace his darker side; the consequences of such actions were that he went from being the bullied to becoming the bully. Over time, little by little, he truly came to accept their ways…

It could be said that Snape, for much of his early life, had always been on the dark side. It wasn't until Lily's tragic death that he finally woke up.

Charlie, however, was an anomaly among these people. From the very beginning, he had never agreed with their so-called pure-blood supremacy.

That's why he couldn't possibly behave the way these pure-bloods liked to see, with that obedient, submissive attitude. In a way, he was the complete opposite of Snape.

This was also why, only two or three days into the term, he had already clashed with the pure-blood crowd.

Of course, this was exactly what Wade admired most about him. Not every eleven-year-old child had such courage.

Tom said calmly, "Bloodline isn't what determines a person's worth… power is."

"As long as you have enough power, who dares say you're not worthy?" As he spoke, Tom picked up a handkerchief and wiped down his yew wand, continuing, "By that time, they won't even dare speak your name."

"History is written by the victors. All these so-called rules and constraints are things the strong make for the weak."

"Right now, they outnumber us, they're stronger than us, so they get to proclaim pure-blood supremacy and make even non-pure-bloods agree with them."

"But once we're stronger than them, we could call all the pure-bloods maggots, and they'd still have to kneel before us and accept their new title."

"So, Charlie… if you don't want yourself, or your sister, to keep being bullied, then you need to hurry up and grow stronger."

Wade smiled and said, "Tom's absolutely right. Seems like everything you've seen lately has left a deep impression on you."

At this moment, Tom truly started to show a glimpse of the future Dark Lord.

"I think, when it comes to understanding the importance of power, no one feels it more deeply than I do!" Tom shot Wade a fierce glare.

If it weren't for the fact that he couldn't beat this bastard, he wouldn't have been bullied by him so miserably!

"I'll study hard! I want to prove to them that even as a non-pure-blood, I can still surpass them!" Charlie declared with determination.

"Study hard?" Wade and Tom exchanged a glance, then both laughed.

"Eh? What are you laughing at?" Charlie asked, confused.

"Just studying what the school teaches you is far from enough!" Wade said seriously. "Think about the spells those guys use when they're bullying others and picking fights — have any of them ever been taught in class?"

"The kind of strength Tom is talking about isn't the kind that makes you a good student. He means real strength! In other words, you need to become someone who can win fights!"

"When you're facing people like them, you have to hit back using their own methods. Hit them until it hurts, hit them until they're afraid."

"For those who are reasonable, of course we can reason with them slowly," Wade continued.

"But for people like them, who refuse to listen to reason, no matter how sound your argument is, it'll never be as effective as your fists and your wand!"

Hearing Wade and Tom's words, Charlie imagined himself taking down all the troublemakers by himself, forcing them to admit that all that nonsense about pure-blood supremacy was utter rubbish…

Just the thought alone felt exhilarating. It was a kind of satisfaction only those who had suffered under the hands of pure-blood bullies could truly understand.

"But… what if I accidentally injure them?" Charlie still had some concerns.

"See? Didn't I say he's an honest fellow?" Wade chuckled. "A lot of people are like this — afraid of the consequences of fighting back. So, when they encounter injustice, they choose to endure it in silence, thinking it's better to avoid trouble, that if they bear it, it will pass."

"I can't say this kind of caution is wrong. But… since you've already made up your mind not to suffer in silence anymore, then you shouldn't keep thinking the same way."

"If those who bully you aren't worried about the consequences of picking on you, then why should you hesitate about the consequences of fighting back?"

"If it really comes to accountability, do you think the ones who started the trouble won't have to pay a price?"

"We don't need to go around looking for trouble, but when trouble comes to us, we absolutely must not back down!"

"Most of the time, you get bullied precisely because the other side is sure you'll hesitate to fight back, that you'll have too many concerns — which means they can bully you without paying any price!"

Wade then asked, "You've heard about it, haven't you? The incident where Slytherin lost a hundred and eighty points."

Charlie dumbly nodded.

Wade patted Tom on the shoulder. "That happened because they decided to ambush the two of us on our way to the library, and we fought back. In the end, they were practically all knocked down while we came out unscathed! After that, whenever they see us, they instinctively keep their distance and don't dare to bully us anymore. Otherwise, do you think we could've rescued you so easily today?"

"And the price we paid for fighting back was getting caught red-handed by Professor McGonagall. We got a hundred and eighty points deducted, same as the ones who ambushed us, and on top of that, we got a month of detention. But we don't mind at all, because it's not just us doing detention."

"Even though it seems like we were punished too, the important thing is that those guys also learned their lesson — they now know that bullying others comes with a price. Personally, I think it was well worth it!"

Tom snorted, "Honestly, if this guy hadn't wanted to take a little field trip to the Forbidden Forest, he wouldn't even have been punished…"

Wade and Tom's story not only left Charlie utterly stunned, but also deeply shocked Anne and the others, who had been listening from the side the whole time.

"So it really was you two who caused that hundred and eighty point deduction!" Anne exclaimed in surprise.

"Didn't you guys notice?" Henry pointed out. "Wade and Tom actually took down all those guys who ambushed them!"

"That's right!" Alphard said excitedly. "I heard there were even a few upper-year students among them… and that André Shafiq, the one who was stammering in front of Wade today, he was one of them!"

Anne pondered aloud, "That explains it. Because André had been beaten by Wade and Tom, he ended up so intimidated by them."

"So…" Henry summed it up, "In other words, you two, just a pair of first-years, managed to take down a whole group of people who tried to ambush you, and even the upper-year students weren't spared…"

Hearing that, Tom couldn't help but lift his chin a little higher. Hum humm huuuum~~

To achieve such an impressive result, he was honestly quite proud of himself.

Of course, he was also very clear that if Wade hadn't shown up to help in the end, his fate probably wouldn't have been so glorious… he might still be lying in the school hospital right now.

Charlie and the others didn't doubt the battle record of Wade and Tom at all.

Because when they saw how those people looked at Wade and Tom today, the fear and wariness in their eyes was impossible to fake.

If these two hadn't given those bullies a real taste of pain, how could they have let Wade and Tom so easily walk away with Charlie?

Charlie sighed in admiration, "How did you two manage to be this strong, even though you're only first-years…"

"Heh~ You could think of it as natural talent," Wade casually explained. "I have an excellent memory — anything I read, I can grasp quickly. Tom's the same; he learns magic at an astonishing speed."

Since he couldn't exactly mention ancient magic or the system, it was best to credit everything to hard work and talent, right?
