Chapter 16
Alexander stood before the bed, his hand heavy on the woman lying in the bed, unconscious. The healer's words echoed in his head again.
"Share the night with her. Her wolf needs to feel yours."
A tight knot formed in his chest, he grabbed the glass of whiskey he'd been drinking and gulped it in one go. It was just one night, all he had to do was sleep next to her… Nothing more.
But the idea of it… of being so close to her, it stirred something ugly in him. Something he had tried his hardest to suppress. He had worked so hard, he wouldn't crumple so easily.
His wolf begged to differ, though.
He set the glass down with a clink, fingers slightly trembling. One would think he was asked to walk through fire, and even that would have been easier for him.
He pushed the thoughts aside and stripped off his shirt, throwing it onto the chair by the door. His gaze shifted to her, noting the bruises that marred her skin, the dried blood still on her temple.
