At the Office
As soon as he arrived, Helen handed him an envelope.
"An invitation was dropped off for you," she said.
Nikolas opened it,his eyes skimming through the contents. It was for an annual business summit,held once every year.A tedious event filled with CEOs socializing, making deals, and networking. He groaned. As much as he disliked the unnecessary mingling and being around several strangers, it was always a good opportunity to get potential clients. Regardless of how draining the event was.
His eyes drifted to his desk clock : 10:00 AM. Right on cue, his intercom buzzed.
He pressed on button on the device,"Mr. Darkos," Helen's voice echoed through the room, "it's time for the meeting. Everyone is seated waiting for you at the boardroom."
Drawing in a deep breath, he responded, "Ok Helen, I'll be there in five minutes".
But he got there in less than five,his entire body jolting with excitement at the thought of seeing Selene again.
As he opened the door to the boardroom,stepping inside he was immediately greeted with smiling faces of several employees. But his eyes quickly darted between them searching for only for person.
Selene!
Just the person he wanted to see,his eyes stay firm on her.she was seated at the front of the conference table getting ready for her presentation.
Acknowledging his presence with a nod, she stood up to begin her presentation. His gaze trailed from her shiny brown hair perfectly styled in a tight ponytail,to her full lips, adorned in red glossy lipstick,making them look even more attractive. Images of claiming them with his own flashed through his mind, and his entire body tensed,as blood quickly rushed down to his groin,he shifted in his sit,trying to adjust himself as he suddenly felt heat of excitement shoot up his spine. God!help him.he thought silently.
Mentally shaking himself back,he blinked severally opening his eyes,as he continued to greedily drink in more of sight of her like she was an everlasting fountain: Her wine-colored two piece suit,from the top to the pants hugged her curves perfectly in all the right places.
Nikolas swallowed hard,his adam apple vibrating with tension,as he quickly bite his lower lip.Tucking them tightly under his teeth to stop the loud moan from escaping his lips as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat,covering it up by adjusting his chair.
Before he could process anything further, the sound of the loud applause that erupted,jerked him back to reality.The presentation had come to an end.
Shit.he cursed.He hadn't heard a single word she said.
All six pairs of eyes turned to him, waiting for his response.
Nikolas picked up his bottled water and took a long sip,gulping down the liquid with speed, his throat suddenly dry,as a result of his sinful fascinations.
"Good job, Miss Selene," he finally said.setting the half bottle water back on the table.
Although,he hadn't heard a single word she had said.Nikolas knew she must had undoubtedly done well. The past two weeks had been enough proof he needed that she was more competent than the last manager.
Without another word,he reluctantly peeled his gaze from selene's face,as he stood dismissing the meeting he immediately left the room before anybody else.
He needed to be far away from selene,her presence alone was doing things to his body that he didn't understand.
But within just few minutes of stepping into the hallway, the sound of her soft laughter rang through his ear echoing in his brain. Quickly made him stop dead in his tracks.
Tiptoeing back,he stopped at the door of the boardroom,as he peered through the slightly open door.
His gaze caught a hold of selene her face stretched into a cheeky laugh,as she giggled surrounded by the four other male employees that hand been in the presentation.
A wave of heat suddenly surged through his chest,shooting up to his brain as his face tightened with anger.
So, she had been waiting for him to leave to enjoy her little chitchat with other men? She was truly avoiding him as she preferred laughing and joking with them,but not him?
Well, that ended today.
Before he could process the sudden rush of emotions in his brain,he forcefully pushed the door open, snapping all five heads in his direction.
His voice loud and firm "Miss Selene, I need to see you in my office. Now!".he ordered.
His expression blank,he tightened his jaw as he saw the look of confusion flickered across her face.
"O-Of course, sir,"she muttered, standing up immediately.
Nikolas turned and headed towards his office, sure that Selene was closely following him from behind. The familiar scent of her floral perfume filled his nostrils wrapping him around in a lovely embrace.
His heart pounding as he got into his office,what exactly was he supposed to tell her? Clearly,he couldn't tell her the real reason.He needed to make something up, and he needed to come up with something fast.
As he seated on his chair, Selene immediately popped herself down on the chair across from him.
"Is….this about the presentation, sir?" she asked,not waiting for him to speak first.
Her face laced with worry. "If it is, I can make the necessary changes you want me to."
"Do you have plans for lunch?"Nikolas blurted out before he could stop himself.
"I….er…..no sir",she muttered.
"Okay, good, now you do; you're having lunch with me," he declared,still surprised that he was going through with this.
Her blue eyes widened in shock. "W-What?".
Nikolas peeled through his brain,his mind racing rapidly.what were they going to talk about during lunch? He sure as hell couldn't tell her the real reason he had called her into his office.
Still searching for an excuse to come up with,his gazed drifted from her to the invitation envelope on the desk, and his lips curved into a small smirk.
Prefect!
"I have something to discuss with you about the company very important," he said immediately,preventing any room for further protests.
Liar!
His hazel-green eyes beamed mischievously; finally, he was going to get some alone time with her all to himself, and there was no way for her to
escape this time.
