Chapter 5 - The Truth?

I sat at the edge of the training grounds, my back resting against the cool stone wall. My uniform was slightly scorched, a testament to Lyria's overwhelming victory. The crowd had long since dispersed, leaving behind only the lingering whispers of my unexpected defeat.

I exhaled sharply, rubbing my temple.

I lose.

Not because she was stronger, but because I hesitated.

No matter how i think about it, it's really weird

In the first place i never done anything to her, but for whatever reason she seems really hate me, like why? Well yeah I'm not like i try to befriend her in the first place but it's not like i tormented her either.

For a moment during the fight, I saw something in her eyes. A flicker of recognition, of certainty, as if she knew every move I was going to make before I even made it and all of that fueling by anger, no seriously why?

That wasn't just talent. That was something else.

Something eerily familiar.

Could she be like me?

Someone from another world? Someone who knows the fate of this world and try to change it?

It's somewhat understandable, if that was the truth of course, since Tristan in the original scenario was the one who indirectly open the portal for demon lord and his army by made a contract with Lilith, of fourth demon lord general.

No. That still weird. Pretty sure in the game Tristan made the contract is still a long time away, in the 2nd semester in fact and we still just entered the academy, so why?

Should i confirm it?

I took a slow step forward, eyes locked onto hers.

"You hate me, don't you?"

Lyria didn't flinch, didn't hesitate.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"

She was too honest. Too direct. People didn't usually answer like that unless they had nothing to hide, or unless they knew something I didn't.

I tilted my head, feigning amusement.

"That's funny. This is the first time we've properly spoken, yet you're looking at me like I've personally ruined your life."

Her jaw tightened. I saw her fingers twitch, as if resisting the urge to clench into fists.

Oh, this was interesting.

"Maybe I just don't like arrogant nobles who think they own the world"

She spat.

"Mm."

I nodded slowly, stepping closer.

"That would be a valid reason if I actually acted like that. But I don't, do I?"

I wasn't like the Tristan from the game. I had avoided acting like the arrogant, sadistic noble that he was supposed to be. Yet, her hatred of me burned as if I had already wronged her a thousand times over.

Or atleast that why i thought, but pretty sure i never done anything wrong since i came to this world though.

Well Tristan reputation already pretty bad though.

Which means, she was indeed know about me, or rather original Tristan.

"You know, i wondering about something"

I said softly.

"Did you know the future?"

Lyria's breath hitched. Just barely. But I saw it.

And there it was.

The truth.

Her glare hardened, but it was different now. Not just anger, fear.

Eh? Why? Why fear? Why she's afraid of me?

I exhaled slowly.

"You knew something didn't you? What would happened in the next 3 years"

Her fingers twitched again.

I smiled, though my mind was racing.

"No denial? No sarcastic retort? That's disappointing."

Lyria's lips pressed into a thin line. She took a step back, breaking eye contact.

Interesting. Very interesting.

She hated me. Despised me. But she was also afraid.

Not of my strength, but something that even i didn't know.

I crossed my arms.

"So tell me, Lyria, did you know what happened in the future, and your fate?"

I watched her carefully.

"You know, if you tell the truth maybe-"

"Stop!"

She raised her voice and got everyone's attention on us.

She looked back at me, her shapire eyes now filled with something different. Something almost like disgust?

"Stop saying something as if you care about me! Future? Fate? I don't know what are you talking about and what are you trying to do with me! Is it the way you tormented me this time huh?"

She close her mouth reflexively, as if realizing what she said

She ran out of the arena, ignoring that the test wasn't over yet, and of course no one even bother to trying to stoping her.

Ahh it's basically confirmed it, she really know about something, and there possibility she was just like me, someone who for whatever reason come to this world.

Sigh, now what should i do? Her power even though it's not awakened yet but i definitely need it so i can clear the scenario and come back to my world

"Still sulking after your loss?"

A sharp voice snapped me from my thoughts.

A girl stood a few meter away from me, arms crossed, golden eyes and hair, smiling to me.

She is Princess Elena, the third princess of Varklad Kingdom, she one of Lyria companion, well last companion.

"Not really, just want to confirm about something"

She gave a humorless chuckle.

"My my, you don't actually accuse her for cheating arent you?"

Ahh right, i remember this dialogue, it's the same like in the game when Lyria manage to beat Cedric, he did not accept his lose and accused Lyria of cheating.

"Sigh, it's none of your business"
